When Halo 4 came out, it seemed to me that it deviated from the traditional Halo experience. It became better over time as playlists were tweaked, but it was still different at its core. When the Halo 5 beta came out, it was clear that Halo 5 was deviating even further from the traditional Halo experience. So, my question is this: do you think that the Halo 5 beta still followed the traditional Halo experience? I just want to get some numbers and see what the rest of the community thinks. Please don’t say that it’s still Halo just because it has “Halo” in its name. I want to know if you think if it’s still the same overall experience.
Personally, I think that Halo 5 has gone astray and needs to take some steps back. Honestly, I’d take another Halo 4 without the ordnance drops and reduced loadout options (no plasma grenade/pistols or Promethean Vision starts).
Poll options (because I don’t think that there’s a built in poll counter):
Yes, the Halo 5 beta still felt/seems like the traditional Halo experience built by previous Halo games.
No, the Halo 5 beta did not feel/seem like the traditional Halo experience built by previous Halo games.
Some aspects felt the same, others did not (please explain which aspects).
I give it a 1. Others will likely disagree, but I felt like as if I played a Halo game. I would suggest bumping up shield strength to make it not so fast and tweak the bullet magnetism and hit detection though.

Seriously, guys, it still plays like any Halo. Everything from the jump height to the weapons is still there. Halo 2 brought in a ton of new mechanics which a lot of people said broke the game. Did that make it not Halo?
So continues the endless circular argumentation about the future of Halo.
Purists vs. casuals. Deviation vs. evolution. Sprint vs. no sprint. AAs vs. new motion mechanics. Ordnance vs. weapons on map. Aim assist, bullet magnetism, blah blah blah.
It’s really great that every one has an opinion. It’s really great that everyone feels free to voice those opinions. Sometimes they even have an effect on development.
But the opinionated masses seem to forget that a) it’s just an opinion, b) there are plenty of people with opinions different than yours, c) opinions of players concerning game play will never trump the opinions of game developers concerning what sells games.
If it’s a green box and it says “Halo” on it, then it’s Halo. And if not, then you have MCC (cough, cough) and theoretically everybody’s happy.
Yes, but it needs some tweaking. Strafe juking felt lackluster, aim assist was a major letdown and only served to make the reticle feel heavy and sluggish, hitboxes were too big, and bullet magnetism was too high. The fundamental aim-and-shoot core of the game is neither engaging or rewarding.
Overall though - I liked all the movement mechanics fine. The beta was significantly better then Halo Reach or Halo 4.

Unfortunately Halo 5 cannot qualify as “traditional…” Technically speaking, Halo 4 was built off of Halo Reach, also making Halo 5 built off of it to an extent… Traditional Halo doesn’t have Sprint and armor abilities.
Honestly, am I the only one who feels Halo Reach was supposed to be a one-time thing?

I have to agree with you on this one entirely. It added a few other mechanics into the game but did not take away from core items. Just like halo 5. A
Was Halo 2 still Halo, with dual wielding and color coded markers when teammates are taking fire? Was Halo 3 still Halo with the bubble shield and portable lift, forge, and clip editing? How about Reach? Halo 4?
What’s not traditional about it? You’re using teamwork to control power weapons, power ups, and key positions on the map. Equal starts. Just like the original trilogy. An evolution in mechanics doesn’t negate that fact.
What’s funny is the H5 beta was more similar to CE than Halo 2 ever was.
Halo 5 doesn’t play like any Halo game I’ve ever played (and no, I don’t mean that in a good way).
Anyways people should stop making these kinds of polls on Waypoint. Either get an outside polling site, or don’t even bother, because frankly anyone can lie about the results of a poll that spans hundreds of pages of responses.
But if you insist, 2.
> What’s funny is the H5 beta was more similar to CE than Halo 2 ever was.
In what ways other than slightly faster killtimes does this game even remotely resemble Ce?
