I think we all know that MC (with the influence of Cortana) has alot of criminal insticts and I’ve been wondering where this is going to lead him in the future. I think that by the end of this new Reclaimer trilogy the MC will most likely end up in prison, there are alot of possibilities as to why this would be and the one I’ve been leaning more towards is some sort of ONI betral or treason. At first I thought maybe something to do with drugs but then I realized that most players would look to MC as a role model so that may be inappropriate. Anyone have any ideas for what could cause the MC to get locked up? Looking at the past Halo games and books I’d say it’s pretty much inevitable.

Criminal instincts? Care to cite some examples?
Master Chief is a Spartan, that means he is a purely conditioned, brainwashed soldier. He is as patriot-human UNSC as anyone could possibly get. And nothing will ever lead him to betray them.
I honestly hope that the Chief dies in this trilogy. He deserves a warrior’s death.

Bit harsh ^
Not really. If he’s kept alive, that leaves the opportunity for the character to really become a cash-cow.

They could always go the “we made a clone” route. Killing him in the game wont solve that. I don’t mind the Halo series sticking around as long as we get interesting games.
Where did you get the idea that the Chief had criminal instincts?
I don’t think that people realize that the franchise has to end at some time. In a linear progression of storyline, it’s impossible to keep it alive forever. This isn’t like Zelda or Mario where the games don’t really follow canonical values. There is a beginning and and end to Halo.
Chief definitely needs to die at the end of the trilogy.

Except in the Halo Universe, I’m pretty sure that cloning is illegal.
And ZapZap, the universe is expansive enough that there could still be dozens of games made, even if the only focus is on the Human-Covenant war. But even then there’s the entire time of the Forerunners, plus what is coming in Halo 4.

True, but those games, much like ODST, would have to be considered side-stories. I honestly don’t think that the franchise needs to be milked any further. I like the idea of a new trilogy, but it would get to the point where the main story needs to end. Think of it like Star Wars. There are hundreds of different iterations of the story that don’t necessarily follow the actions of Luke. I believe that Halo could follow that route.
Halo Wars and Halo Reach both went “back” in time, but they’re not necessarily considered side-stories.
If it could be done with focusing on a specific conflict within the war, I think it could be successfully done.

They did make clones of every Spartan II candidate. Halsey cloned her brain. I really don’t think ONI plays by the rules
The title of this thread made me lol. How could they put a Spartan in jail without them breaking out? If the UNSC had any reason to stop MC, they would probably just try and kill him or something.
Um no.

Excuse me, but Zelda actually follows a canonical order, as so Mario franchises do
I think its possible that Chief could go against UNSC and ONI for reasonable reasons, but I really doubt it, and hes the main character so he would probably never go to jail, or if he did he’d get broken out by Kelly and Fred. Chief is an advanced soldier born for the military so drugs should have never entered this at any point in time.
its MC, he saved man kind im sure he can do what ever he feels like doing lol

I don’t think so, I just can’t help but think that MC will die. But then again Spartans never do.
lol wut?
