Do you Think Halo 5 should of been halo online?

Most of the game is online only

Uh…
No. As much as I absolutely hate the campaign, not having access to the campaign because I refuse to pay for the hideously overpriced, and largely useless, Xbox Live Gold would be totally and utterly unforgivable.
Halo 5 did bad enough with the fans. Locking the story behind 120 dollars for people like me who care about story is a terrible idea.

Does it matter?

What would be the advantage of this? I see no reason why any game should require an internet connection to at least play it’s campaign.

I feel your thinking is pretty skewed. Xbox gold over priced? It’s only $5 a month if you get a 12 month subscription. Also it’s not useless, especially since they have started the giving away some games very month if you have gold subscription. Granted not every month are games that may appeal to some players but it’s pretty cool. Also discounts on other games at times.

Right, and for $60, I can either get a new full priced game, or a bunch of indie games.
The games aren’t really things I’m terribly interested in either. There was nothing on there I didn’t already own on PC, or simply didn’t care for. These games are also dependent on the Gold subscription. If your subscription goes… So does your game. Really pathetic.
On the topic of discounts: Not as good as Steam. I got the Evil Within + Season Pass on Xbox for about 12.50 before tax. On PC, I could have gotten it for about 10.00 before tax. Those games are also digital, and if Xbox Live goes down for any reason, then you can’t play it. Found that out the hard way. If Steam goes down, you can still play all your games, just not online.

There’s no way I can justify paying $60 a year for a service that’s inferior to Steam. Just by comparison of what each offers.

The games with gold aren’t always indie games they have offered a pretty wide variety of games each month it seems to me. You can easily get $60 worth. Also Xbox live rarely goes down in my experience. I can’t remember the last time it was down actually.

Just last week, actually. January 4th. Couldn’t play any of my digital games.
Toward the end of December, they offered Vermintide (which I own on PC), and Back to the Future, Telltale (which I don’t care for). At the start of January they offered something that I didn’t care for, and Van Helsing 3, which I never would have bought anyway. Those games aren’t exactly worth it to me. Of cours, that’s a small sample out of the total number of games offered per year, but I digress.
I also never said the games were all indies. I remember they had Dark Souls on 360 back before the One ever released. Didn’t match that for the two weeks I had XBL though.

Yes the vast majority of the game is online. Especially since u can’t even play co-op on the same console. But I personally would have been pissed if I was FORCED to pay for gold just to play solo campaign. I have gold to play multiplayer… NOT campaign.

I agree that Halo 5 shouldn’t be Halo online. I strongly disagree that Gold is a bad value. I consistently pick it up for 45 dollars a year. 4 bucks a month is a steal.

What, for the privilege to use the internet you already pay for?
For the free games that are largely rubbish and go away if you don’t have Gold?
For the discounts that don’t match Steam discounts, and are therefore inferior?
For the ability to play Halo online (there are games on PC for that. CE is still kicking around, Halo 2 is active, Forge is online)?
What’s so great about Gold that Steam doesn’t do better? Heck, Microsoft won’t even let you change your gamer tag unless you pat them even more money.

No one mentioned that you also get free silver accounts on the family plan. It seems like you’d be better off just sticking to PC with how disgruntled Delta is sounding. I doubt anyone likes that H5 is online only, but there’s nothing we can do about it except to stop buying Halo games or Xboxes if you don’t want to put up with it.

Or when Halo 6 drops, it’ll come to PC and you can just get it then. Free multiplayer. Could always wait until then.

Eventually, 343 and MS are going to want to tap into the PC market with MCC and Halo 5. Might take a few years, but it’ll happen.

Also, unless I missed a memo or something, what exactly do Silver accounts do? I thought they just enabled online communication… And that’s it?

Yes, I can already see it now. Buy gold now to play H6 and MCC for PC on Xbox Live servers! Muhahaha. /s

That’s where people get endless smurf accounts from.

Ah yeah, you can share Gold with them, and raise some havoc for new players.

To be honest, Delta if all you are you are going to do is shut down peoples’ suggestions,
then feel free to drop the topic. Halo has, for the most part, been a Xbox series and is known
for being Xbox Exclusive. Exclusive meaning it is only available on 1 platform, in this case Xbox.

If you actually understood business, you would realize more people are getting into console gaming
than PC gaming. This is seen when so many PC games are being transferred over to console and
not vice versa. As more people consoles, more games get made mainly for console games and not
transferred over to PC. That is Business 101.

So either go back to playing Steam and stop complaining or get over having to pay money
for a service, which has always cost money, and try out Halo 5. Don’t complain about something
you never fully experienced and will never get on PC.

Funny, then, that Halo CE, Custom Edition, and Halo 2 (which incorporated never before seen tech for its time, and was the only game to do so) were also released on PC, as well as Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2, Halo 5: Forge and the upcoming Halo 6 will be released on PC as well. Halo CE was originally seen as a third person shooter on mac computers before MS paid Bungie to work for them.

That’s also an extremly bold claim that you aren’t backing up with any numbers. You can’t say that without providing some sort of data that shows a growth in console players vs a decline in PC players. From what I’ve read, PC is actually growing, as Valve gets more users. That’s not including Origin, Blizzard and other users that game on PC. Of course, I have no data, so whether that’s true, I don’t know.

On the topic of good business, it makes more financial sense to spread your product as far and as wide as you can. Let’s say 2 million people own an Xbox, and Microsoft publishes an exclusive that 1 million of those people buy. Let’s say that 2 million seperate people own a PC. Microsoft publishes another game, but makes it for both PC and Xbox. This time, the player base is split evenly with 2 million players.
The first time, Microsoft only had 1 million sales. Because they put it on PC, they got another million they wouldn’t have had otherwise, because the other million on Xbox doesn’t care for the game that got released.

As for “just suck it up and pay for it”? I’m not just going to go belly up and pay for something that should be free. If it means not having online capabilities for my Xbox One, so be it. I’ve already spent a load of cash getting peripherals for the system, and I’m not spending anymore, least of all when I don’t have a lot of time to game. If I have XBLG, and I don’t use it every day, I feel like I’m waisting money.

One if your to cheap to pay $60 a year or $5 a month than you need to rethink about your life more… --__–
But anyways as for the Question I fill like Halo Online was a testing ground for other Halo games to come in the future. But I still wish 343 would’ve made some of the armor available in that game and put it into pack in Halo 5. I for one would love to have Forerunner Spartan Armor.

Armor design in Online was pretty cool. Look kinda weird for Halo though.

As for the “cheap” thing. As I said above, if I’m paying $60 a day, I need to be playing every day for almost the whole day, or I feel like I’m losing money. As I’ve also stated above, I can’t play every day, only two days out of the week, if I’m lucky. So I’m not going to pay for something that doesn’t give me anything that great or something I can’t use every day. I’d rather save my money than waste on something I won’t even be using all that often.

I’m so confused. What are you paying $60 a day for?

I hope that with Halo 6 there are more options available to play offline. It’s a shame the Forgers need Gold to forge, and I miss the days of solo FF without being online.
