The reason I ask this question is because I think 343 might have screwed up on the release of Halo 5 on PC. I think this because I remember on the first day of release I was on the the reddit discord server, and every room was full of lobbies playing each other. Now its completely empty, its hard to find a people playing on pc. Its a shame too because I and mostly everyone else I have talked to who have played it loved the game. Games don’t last because they are fun for a while, they last because they keep being fun. Its hard to keep a game running when you can’t find a game to play. slowly and slowly it starts to get abandoned, and that’s where we are now.
If the game launched with a proper server browser from the start and some customization options for PC players It could have lasted. The servers could have been filled and supported by players. The general consistence to the game was that it was great, so why did they they launch it unfinished. If 343 launched it with server browsers it could be doing great right now, but since they decided to rush it out it now has impression of “OH that was cool, but couldn’t find anyone”.
People may come back to the game when the server browser is released, but a large majority only came back to halo because they saw it just get released. Now that it is released and people have already deleted a 40 (don’t know exact) gig game, they aren’t going to simply redownload it because they heard something was added to it. I’m not say everyone will disguard this update, surely there will be people who come back, but there is a large amount of people who will not look back.
343 ruined their perfect opportunity to revive the franchise and that is a shame to see.
