Do you think Halo 4 is GOTY material? I do, but there’s also the matter of competition.
With Dishono(u)red, AC3, Hitman:Absolution and many other games releasing, how much of a chance do you, personally, think Halo 4 has in winning GOTY?
Of course GOTY is just a title, the real GOTY is whatever you enjoy the most, but this is just for discussion.
EDIT: Even though the games haven’t released yet, this is just speculation based upon what we know.

Lol I’m inclined to agree, it really deserves it from what I’ve seen so far and expecting. But I’m betting on AC3 winning simply because it’s multiplatform and CoD is the cool thing to hate now.
I won’t decide that until I get to play Halo 4 for myself.
Yeah, if it can beat, AC3, borderlands 2, Dishonoured, Hitman: Absolution, Black ops 2 (lol).
It’ll definitely be a contender, but it’ll have to compete with games like Mass Effect III, Dishonored, Borderlands II, and I hate to mention it, but CoD.
In the end though, do the game awards really matter? I mean, Call of Duty won GotY back in 2010 at the Spike VGAs.

i agree with the finding of the unicorn, but the matter of GOTY is in hope that ether halo 4 is alot like halo 3, or that all the other games arnt as good xD my hope is that its just like halo 3 cos all the other games look just as good as halo 4

Best shooter maybe but probably not GOTY.
ME3 AC3 and Dishonored are huge contenders.
Depends, to be honest, I feel that Halo 4 does deserve GoTY at this point.
An extremely talented and diverse community of people came together, and have been developing the game for 3 years at least now. There are so many factors to why I really think that Halo 4 should or at least will win, and I’m not saying this because of my love of the series.
One obvious reason that I see, is Spartan Ops, someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but ‘weekly episodic content’ much like that of a T.V. series? Has that ever been done before? I don’t think it has, it’s creative and something new to the industry, I can already see other triple A titles following suit if SpOp’s is a hit.
They are also continuing the story of the seventh or sixth best character in videogame history (according to a magazine I saw once, but I think the MC takes the cake over Mario . . . whatever though). The story looks compelling, interesting and fun (the gameplay they have shown has made me more excited for this campaign that any other Halo besides 3’s simply because I thought that would be the ending, and most anticipated that).
They’ve also evolved the multiplayer experience to match something familiar to players, but added features that renew the experience, sure, maybe some of us don’t like all the changes that have happened, but Halo 4 looks like it has a serious chance of revitalizing the popularity it had back in Halo 2 (whether or not the game will be as good as Halo 2).
Of course I haven’t played the game, so I can’t comment on game play, but I have a feeling that Halo 4 will be the game that most deserves the GoTY award. The crew at 343i have especially deserved it, I hope the passion and work they put into the game shines off the disk when I take it out of the box.
Although . . . I have a feeling that even if they don’t win GoTY they will have been satisfied with continuing the series that they love, and the experience of creating a Halo will have been grand enough, more so than some ‘award’. Hell, I don’t think anyone here would hide it anyway, whose dream job would be to work on a Halo game? I don’t think any of us would say no haha.

Wow I just checked out the Halo 4 E3 demo again, I forgot how amazing that jungle level looked. The lighting absolutely wrecks MoH.

Yep! It can sincerely be GoTY. I am only worried about is Borderlands 2, Dishonoured and Assassins Creed 3.
Since Mass Effect 3 was a complete letdown, it shall not be GoTY <3
