BAD idea to kill cortana off, she’s obviuosly not your average 7 year AI. Anyways I wouldn’t want to see Jen Taylor cry over the death of her character.

Well, it could make for a cool plot twist- Master Chief forced to destroy the only pers… A.I that has been with him since Halo CE. How tragic it would be to tear a part of himself and be alone without her guidance.

At the moment, yes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she begins to lose it a little. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Cortana isn’t rampant it’s metastable.
The only thing I wouldn’t trust Cortana with is my money…She couldn’t stop people from taking it. >_<

No it wouldn’t. It would depress him a little yes but as far as John sees Cortana. He sees it as a irreplaceable equipment.
And John hasn’t relied on Cortana that much at all, I admit humanity wouldn’t have won the war with out it and the Halo Array Incident couldn’t have been accomplished. It is 2 years old roughly by the end of Halo 3, compared to how long John fought the Covenant it isn’t long at all. it would never equate to the same way he felt when he lost his Spartans
Bottom line. It will have more effect on the player than the character.
I still trust Cortana as an ingenious plot device. Whether or not I, in the role of Master Chief in H4, will trust her is something completely different.

But seriously, I like the idea of Cortana perishing at the end of the new trilogy. I’m just not confident that 343i/MS have the guts to kill off the second most famous character in the Halo franchise. It’d be a huge and risky thing to do, after all.
She could still survive you know, after AI go rampant and get all of the crazy out, they do reach a somewhat more “stable” state. Plus Cortana was always a little nuts.
After all of her literal screen-time in Halo 3, I don’t trust her at all. xP
No, seriously… the fact that she could be harbouring Mendicant Bias concerns me. :S
Given Cortana’s circumstances and history I theorize she will not fall victim to rampancy.

I still trust her but i do love the idea of chief having to end her existence. although i dont want her to die i think it would make for great gaming and story.
what if most of the way through halo 4 they show u just how well chief and cortana work together again, at the end of halo 4 (cliffhanger) cortana begins to lead chief into a trap…maybe split personality along the lines of gollum and frodo at the end of two towers. halo 5 chief will use her good side tapped into by forerunners or somebody to do a few last important missions before having to kill her. halo 6 chief finishes the second fight but finishes himself at the same time. what a trilogy. although id love to believe another chief triliogy would be possible, id rather they put all effort into this one to make it so full of drama and emotion. we got a lot to look forward to whether we are right or wrong.
