Do YOU spend Money on Cosmetics and why?

I do in other games, its a rip-off here

I don’t currently spend money on cosmetics for several reasons. They are all way overpriced. It’s clear they gutted the Battlepass in order to nickel and dime us for additional Reach armor, and to make yet another Reach themed season after this one. All Reach armor should have been included in 1 BP. The coating system is also a joke. They should allow us to pick our primary and secondary colors at the very least before they try to sell us 10 different shades of red.

Also the fact that they put all these items that nobody wants in $15-$20 bundles along with the one thing that people will actually want instead of just selling things separately for a reasonable price. And then there’s the rotating store items made to create FOMO and get people to pull the trigger on a purchase they’d have never made in the first place.

Just a bunch of really terrible and greedy practices overall with the monetization in this game. I bought the BP the day it came out because I was excited for a new Halo and the gameplay itself is quite good aside from some glaring issues (useless radar, melee bugs, bad servers, certain weapon balancing). But if I had taken the time to play the game and see how they were gonna handle the store I never would have supported it by purchasing the BP.

I only bought the premium battle pass and only because it was lasting long enough that I figured I’d get the value out of it. A little over a month later I’m four levels shy of finishing it and will probably have it done today so I’d say it was worth it. But that’s the only thing I’ve bought from the shop and the only thing I ever plan to buy from the shop.

Since unlocking the cosmetics in the campaign, I went back to the regular Mark VII core anyway so most of what I’ve unlocked from the premium battle pass is going to waste. Oh well.

I started Infinite’s MP off without a Battle Pass, after like 10 matches I was like: ā€œDude… I’m not unlocking anything or gaining any progress! What kind of a FPS Multiplayer is this that doesn’t even reward players for winning or doing well?ā€

I expected the old Halo experiences from nearly every Halo since Halo 2, where we could progressively achieve greater and harder ranks and rewards, but no… I quickly saw all of this was locked behind pay walls instead. So, I figured, $10 ain’t much, I’ll just get the Battle Pass, hey Infinite is free anyways right? Well, after getting the Pass, I still found I wasn’t unlocking or progressing much, nearly every Spartan looked the same even had the same colors! Now I am a high level in the BP, and I finally feel like I have started unlocking all of the basic armors and emblems that were given for FREE in previous Halo MPs usually right from the beginning too.

All in all, I will probably never purchase another Battle Pass. It was a waste of time and money, I spent most of my time in the Pass unlocking things I didn’t even wear or use and to be honest, not that much gets unlocked in the BP anyways. You unlock a shoulder pad, then next level, the other shoulder pad and a Swap… real asinine type of stuff. I have like 15 Challenge Swaps and 8 XP Boosts… Ever since they changed the XP gained from the first 7 games and challenges, I don’t even need XP Boosts anymore.

Also, I refuse to purchase cosmetics, because they are meaningless when purchased. Instead of being rewarded like in previous Halos, the cosmetics have been adapted into a marketing scheme to make players think they are constantly getting ā€œnewā€ ā€œqualityā€ content that justifies each of their purchases.

In the past, Halo games have historically rewarded players with cosmetics… reach level XX and you’ll receive ā€˜emblem/color/armor’, well in Infinite it feels completely different when you have to purchase the reward instead of earning it.

No. Not worth it. I have spent in other games (outside of halo), but not this one.

The content is kind of lame lol.

I don’t spend money on cosmetics

Im not a toddler with a wallet

In a game like Warframe I would spend Money in the colour pallets or skins or attachments etc since the game allows me to simply use them as I please, with no restrictions.

In a game like Halo Infinite in comparison, I would not, since while all the gear is cosmetic, it is painfully restrictive and excessive in how I purchase things, ie through temporarily available bundles rather than what Destiny and Warframe have, a storefront that lets you choose what you want to buy from a catalogue of sorts.

Armour Coatings also fall flat due to their inherent restrictions of no proper colour customisation (ie Halo 2-5) but restricting it to each armour core like the armours are akin to different characters like Hero shooters, when they’re suits for the player, not characters.

So yeh I spend money on cosmetics because I like to look good IF the store and game allow me to get them at my own reassure, rather than strong-arming me with simulated FOMO & restrictive utilisation of said stuff in the store.

This is what I have spent so far, I like the game so I bought a few things.

Campaign - $60
Battle Pass - $10
Battle Pass - $10 (for my little brother)
Credits - $60 (Yoroi core items, cat ears)

I have about 3400 cR remaining, but I did get a bunch for free from Twitter giveaways. Waiting for Commando shoulders & Recon shoulders. When I get those two items I won’t buy anything for a LOOOOONG time because the shoulders I need will complete the look I always go for in Reach & other games.

I don’t want to spend money unless it’s ODST gear.

Just hand that over to me and no one has to get hurt.

I occasionally purchase them, but only if I find that the items are good looking, at the very least in my eyes.

I paid 10 bucks for the battlepass, but that will be the last I spend on the game

Fortunately, all the cool ODST stuff you can get from the Battle Pass.

I would never buy cosmetics from a shop for a Spartan. It would be a waste;

One you don’t see the cosmetics on your Spartan enough for them to make a difference

And

Two it’s a boring way to acquire things.

However I would purchase a campaign or DLC so I could acquire cosmetics through Play.

This campaign was rather weak and pretty much resembled the old linear campaigns but on a single map.

If they introduce a road map where more story is revealed and different ways to acquire cosmetics for MP - I would consider buying the campaign in a sale and DLC at full price.

i thought i be able to do alot more with that unlocks them after buying them i immediately regretted it because you cant use them how you would like to

i look like noble 6 right now cus thats the only look i currently like

I have actually killed an enemy and thought ā€œwow! What cool armor!ā€. I still don’t spend in the store, due to an intense disgust and hatred of micro transactions. They are absolutely unacceptable, and in infinite we can’t even earn in-game credits, so for someone like me the store is literally just a waist of time. Really wish they would let me earn that armor instead of trying to get me to spend my hard-earned cash on it.

thats somtihng im still wrapping my head around does that mean storm fall is a gen 3 version of gungnir?

No. I have not and will not unless things change.

I purchased the battle pass because there was literally no customization without it and I like customizing my in game characters.

I’ve spent money on cosmetics for apex and other games but aside from the battle pass I haven’t spent a dime in the Infinite store. Stuff is way too expensive and way too restrictive. I would have bought the soldier bundle if it wasn’t 20 bucks and locked to one core. But as it is, nah fam we don’t do that here currently.

I think there’s a happy medium to be had. The base colors and a couple armor cores should be available right away for free players. More advanced armors and some paints or extras could be made unlockable through play. Certain specialty items like charity content, pro content, sponsored content, etc could be available in the store.

I like the way that Overwatch has it implemented. It’s different because it’s a loot box system, but every non-promo skin is available through grinding. And they make a lot of extra money selling promo skins in the store. You can also pay money in to the system to fast track the grind.

There has to be a similar way to implement that system in Halo without using loot boxes.

The message just repeats. ā€œRegret, Regret, Regretā€.

IDK. Some buyers perhaps
