Don’t get me wrong, I love both styles: the remastered graphics in Halo CE and 2 are beautiful (especially Halo 2), and I also love the classic feeling in playing in classic mode. But I honestly prefer remastered: as you can enjoy beautiful cutscenes and gameplay, use the variety of skulls, and learn in-depth story points through the terminals.
Call me old school, but there is something really novel about exploring CE and 2 in old graphics. Getting out of the map of getting into “secret” places feels so much better in old graphics. Also it’s easier to tell hitboxes in classic.
No question, classic. I grew up playing the original and while the remastered version looks cool, it doesn’t give me the same feeling.
Remastered. They did a good job with the remastered versions.

It’s the one thing you can’t share with a friend who never played Halo. Have you ever experienced this?
You invite someone over to introduce them to Halo, and you play through the campaign with them in classic. As the game starts, you’re filled with nostalgia and joy because you’re sharing a precious moment with your friend: They’re experiencing the same thing you did, years ago, when the game dazzled and captivated you. …At least, that’s what you think they’re feeling, until they say (without any hesitation or subtlety) “Wow, these graphics look like crap!” Sigh… God -Yoink!-.

I don’t have too many close friends to play split screen. Most of the time I just play with my brother. I can understand how you feel.
