So Im going to go ahead and buy halo 4 for myself after playing a few games over friends houses(so lets say an est. 20 games). The question that I have is im noticing im one of few that use the br over dmr. I never bought halo reach so I never was used to the dmr, and more often then not my br games (k/d) compared to dmr games is higher. I watched most of the recent mlg event and have watched a couple early montages and everyone is using the dmr. Should I make the switch or continue to play in my comfort zone? also Im planning on playing alot of slayer pro/mlg gametypes.
play with what ever you want. but if you want to be competitive use the DMR. its the better gun. and competitive is about being better so use whats best
They really do play the same mostly, however the DMR is better at long range than the BR, although the BR does normally preform better than the DMR at short. the main difference is using weapons out of their comfort zone. It is a lot easier to use a DMR up close than it is to use a BR afar. Personally, I change from one to the other as I need.
Kill time- if every shot is landed on target
DMR: about 1.6 seconds
BR: about 1.8 seconds
Advantages-
DMR: Faster kill time, effective at all ranges in hands of expert marksmen. Also, almost zero bloom. more shots per clip.
BR: More Aim Assist, very hard to miss a shot at close range. Also upward kick of weapon does the work of landing the headshot for you if you aim at chest level.
Dissadvantages-
DMR: Vertually no Aim Assist… other than that no real dissadvantages
BR: Large spread, very innacurate at meduim-long range. Slower kill time.
If you can practice to the point that you don’t need aim assist… DMR is the best weapon. Works at all ranges, kills faster, has more shots per clip. Also, some times the BR’s aim assist is a disadvantage. When you are trying to focus on one target another enemy can strafe accross your reticule pulling (with the aim assist) you aim away from your intended target. DMR is currently the best choice.
