Do You Like These New...Things?

Do note that this article contains my thoughts and opinions and is not the reflection of others.

Alright, so I found another topic just a few minutes ago that featured 2 of these twitter posts, and when I clicked on them, they featured these “weapons.” Just to cut to the chase, since they were tweeted by Xbox Japan, I think they will actually be weapons in the game, and if so, it kinda sickens me. Weapon Customization is what I was most fearful about for Halo 5 and I guess it might be coming true. When I saw this sort of thing in Halo Online, I just looked at it with so much disgust. Since these weapons have different scopes and lasers and -Yoink-, I’m guessing they’ll each have their individual stats, which brings me to my next point.

The reasons behind my anger for it should be obvious honestly, weapon customization in my opinion should only be COD’s sort of thing and BattleField and Titanfall and whatever else, but just, not Halo. Halo was my game of balance, the one game I could look to if I wanted to play something that took much more skill than other games such as COD because the game was actually balanced. Even if these weapons are only for Warzone, they still don’t belong in Halo, Halo should be just AR, BR, DMR, and SMG. Not, AR Scoped, BR Long Range, DMR Suppressed, and SMG Rapid Fire. This is not what I think when I think about Halo. Now I’m not trying to sound like a total Halo 2 or 3 fanboy, no offense if you are one, but anyone that actually likes Halo should know that the game is built on balance, not whoever has the better weapon, even if that weapon is the same. If I get into a firefight with another player, and we both have BRs, then whoever has more skill and maneuvering should be able to win that battle, not because I had the BR Short Range and he had the BR Extra Damage or some -Yoink- like that.

Whew, after all of this I’m still excited for Halo 5, I’m still excited for Warzone, Spartan Abilities, 35 maps, Campaign Co-Op, etc, and still can not wait for it to release, but if these weapons are not just some photoshop practice to show off the skins, or are not just fake in general, then I will be greatly disappointed to see them in the final game, and I know most of my other friends will be as well. So, if you’re excited for them, vote that you are, if you’re not, vote that you aren’t, either way feel free to tell my why down below. I’d love to hear your responses.

Honestly, I don’t mind. I’m actually okay with having different variants of weapons within one gamemode.

As long as there is a healthy amount of Arena based playlists at launch, I will be content with this.

What I’m not okay with is having these weapons are pre-order bonuses. That’s just not cool guys…

It would be cool if anyone could shed light on this. Please tell me these things are purely cosmetic…or only available in warzone? I’m a little confused right now
It says:

  • Sentinel Battle Rifle with Laser Targeter:
  • –Short description: The Battle Rifle is issued to Spartan super-soldiers.*
  • –Long description: Initially fielded late in the Covenant War, manufacturing concerns and logistical issues involved with its ammunition meant the BR85 service rifle was not widely adopted until after the conflict ended.*
__–Value: Improve overall weapon accuracy, even when not using precision aiming.__That doesn’t really sound like cosmetic only?

It’s just in Warzone. It’s not a big deal. What worries me is if people get accustomed to them, and start saying “why can’t I use my long range AR in Slayer?” enough that it may be considered for Halo 6.

But I doubt they’ll do that. There needs to be clear divide for competitive and casual. I enjoy both thoroughly (which is why I can enjoy both Halo 2 and Halo 4) but I want them as far away from each other as possible. That’s actually why I’m really excited for Halo 5, it seems to cater to both crowds.

But if I had to pick whether they should stay or go, I think I’d be happier with them gone. I’m sure a lot of newer players may like them, but they just seem so out of place in Halo. Although, I’m perfectly okay with sprint, so make of that what you will.

There’s a thread on this already, just a slight scroll down (if on mobile). Other than that, 343 can have at it with their Warzone playlist, no biggie.

Edit: They’ve already said some of these weapons will not be cosmetic, if not all of them. This is only in Warzone.

Yep totally agree I am fine with these sorts of things as long as both arena and warzone are kept completely separate from each other and don’t interfere with one another arena and warzone should not influence each other.

It’s a variant of the BR that has improved accuracy. These types of weapons will only be available in Warzone. Only Cosmetics (Skins, Assassinations, Armor) can be used in the Arena based playlists.

Even though the BR gains increased accuracy, Players will still have to ‘earn’ the weapon in Warzone, Before they can use it.

Example: The Sentinel BR is available to players at REQ level 5 in Warzone (This is only a guess). Player must get to level 5 and then must have 5 energy points to call it in. You can’t just start a match of Warzone and immediately grab your improved BR right off the bat.

ok alright. and the pre order bones is just the snetinel skin right? not that you can use the sentinel from beginning

I think the pre-order bonuses include the actual weapon itself. So player can grab the game, Load into warzone, Get to the required REQ level and then have the Sentinel BR ready to go.

I don’t agree with this type of pre-order bonus, But it has been confirmed that ALL pre-order bonuses will be unlockable in game. So nothing it locked behind a paywall. Guess I can live with it.

I’m fine with it as long as it’s only in warzone. Honestly it’ll be nice to have some change of pace from the standard weapons queue in the regular matchmaking.

Its just in Warzone…

…but for how long is what makes me worry a bit.

I’m cool with them as long as they remain in war zone only. Its actually kinda smart using war zone as bait for the modern crowd, and keeping arena basically the same. Might get more people interested in Halo.

Unless a large group of people wants it in arena aswell, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Nothing wrong with any of those. Cosmetic customization is totally fine as long as the profile of the weapon scopes stays the same in Arena
Warzone is the purely-fun, unranked, all-out big-battle scenario that many people have been clamoring for (not me tbh). There will be some many people and AI that having weapons with different scopes and kill-times will be fine in that mode.

As long as none of that makes its way over to Arena, in this game or any future halo game, its all good.

They said it will always be in Warzone and only in Warzone. Unless it’s part of some sort of Fiesta gametype or a gametype where balance doesn’t matter, then it will always JUST be in Warzone.

I’m fine with that because it’s going to be fun, just like Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is fun with all the unlockable upgrades and items.

Im cool with this as well as long as its in the social playlists only. I am pretty sure 343 already confirmed on multiple occasions that arena/competitive will have equal starts. I like the idea of adding more functionality and customization to the social playlists. It will help Halo compete with the new FPS games while keeping the “core” competitive fanbase happy with the competitive playlists. If anything it is a huge plus! Love it

I will enjoy both playlists

Can you borrow me youre time machine for next weekend?

im cool with this for war zone but i would also like the ability to forge these guns and put them in our maps. I wouldn’t mind them too much in arena as long as you can’t start with them

Thanks for aggregating these. They look great! Can’t wait to use them.

With armor upgrades and the sort going the way of the dinosaurs, I’m happy to see some new customization options introduced.

for gods sakes why dont you know this already it is only for warzone.
