Do you like the idea of loadouts?

I want to know if the halo community likes or dislikes the loadouts and why?

let me know your comments or thought on loadouts cuz i dont know how i feel about them ?

In all honesty, I find no fault with them. It allows you to start with weapons that you like that aren’t OP power weapons. It gives you an opportunity to develop your playstyle for those that are newer with the game. It also lets you put your focus on fighting the enemy instead of running for the closest BR on your side of the map, and getting wrecked if you can’t find one. It speeds up gameplay. If the only reason people don’t like it is because it came from CoD, then that’s sad.

I like them. And while we’re at it - they aren’t going anywhere, either.

How doesn’t like them! Now I can spawn and get straight to the game.

I like them because I hated started with -Yoink- weapons all the -Yoinking!- time and frag grenades which I am apparently unable to use unlike everyone else sniping me with them.

Loadouts work for me

I like them because you can get what you need depending on map/gametype without having to vote between ARs and DMRs like in Reach, and not everyone has the same play-style.

That being said, I have two issues with loadouts:

  1. There’s a bug where all your loadouts reset if you play on another Xbox. I was at a friend’s party over the weekend and they wanted help on co-op campaign, and then we played some matchmaking. I was surprised when I didn’t have any AA to use and my reloads were taking forever…so when I looked at my loadouts, all the names of them are there, but set to default: DMR, magnum, frags, no AA or upgrades. On top of that, when I got home and signed into my own Xbox, the loadouts were reset again! Big issue if people have LAN parties or actually play with friends IRL and not just over Live.

  2. I think there needs to be more loadouts than 5. I might be happier if they provided a separate loadout for Spartan Ops, but I feel there are just too many options for 5. Normal Infinity Slayer is much different than BTB, which is different from all the objectives, and each of those can require tweaks based on situation. And for SO I’d rather have a regen/ammo setup that I normally don’t use in matchmaking, which means I either have to set up a loadout before I play, or waste a slot. I don’t know if anyone else feels that way, but I think it’d be nice, especially after unlocking specializations.

You can actually modify your loadouts while ingame.

Love loadouts. That was always the thing I hated about Halo. I hated starting in game types that gave me weapons I am terrible with. I would just end up backing out. Every person is different and has different play styles and should be able to start with weapons and gear that works for them. Just my opinion. I would also like to see more load out weapons added. I really wish the SAW (nerfed back version) could have been one of them. I love that gun. Sounds -Yoink!-.

Indeed, but I’d rather not have to take the time to do that during a match. Sometimes I try in between matches but there’s not always enough time unless you leave the party/lobby. I’m not saying we need 20 of them, but I think 8 would be much better than 5.

Absolutely not. The part of halo strategy is to get and control weapons before your opponent does. Also theres zero variety in games. No one bothers to even pickup other weapons

I do not enjoy loadouts, personally.

Call me an old fart, but Halo was always an arena shooter, and adding a class-based object to it ruins the balance of gameplay. No one starts with the same loadout so one person has a numerical advantage over another in some situation. In past halos (That Reach crap aside) you spawned with the same weapon in search of the same bigger power weapons and the conflicts leading to the power weapons themselves were incredibly hectic.

This was back when there were three classes of weapons, Starter, Good, and Power. Which was an adventure in on itself.

Now, the Starter weapons and the Good weapons are combined and essentially randomized with your opponent and it leads to people calling for nerfs and buffs and whines because they got killed by such and such loadout rather than a player’s skill. It just doesnt seem ultimately fair that the AR has to be balanced with the BR and the plasma pistol has to be balanced with the Magnum.

I like them.

Loadouts - yes
Customizable loadouts - not really
Progression system based on item unlocks - hate it

I like being able to spawn with a carbine, rather than hoping that there’s one on the map.

It’s alright since all the good guns can be bought at early levels. I don’t see the hate for loadouts. They’re not overpowered advantages. 343 is simply empowering the players to customize the way they play and to allow them to tailor it to their play style.

What I really don’t get is why they made the progression system so short. Even for people who don’t play often, all options would be available after about 10 hours(?) of actual game play. I wouldn’t mind if they took it away, but I don’t really see it as an inconvenience for that reason.

Also, no idea why they would make emblems available on progression system. I get why you’d have to unlock some for special commendations, but not the normal ones. Or why they removed some…

I miss the old system. Map control and fighting over power weapons almost seems none existent. I kind of feel like playing as a team is a concept that seems to have decreased somewhat.

Map control is still present whether there are weapons or not. Example: the high ground Laser spawn on Ragnarok is advantageous not because of the weapon spawn, but because it gives an open view on all corners of the map. In Abandon, controlling the top rings also give an advantage. Map control is still present.
