Do you like the gun's sound effects?

First of all, am I allowed to post about this? If not could a Mod quickly get rid of this thread. I don’t want to get in trouble…

Anyway, it seems that sound effects for the guns have changed again. What are your thoughts on them? Do you like how they sound, or do you prefer the older sound effects? I’m personally not sure what to think. While I’m okay with a few sound effects, some I feel could do with a little tweaking.

Finally, I noticed during the gameplay videos that every time a player hits an enemy, this strange beeping noise occurs. Is it a glitch, or something else?

I don’t know if I like or dislike them necessarily. I’ve only heard the human variant weapons and to be perfectly honest, I never thought there were particularly outstanding (excluding the sniper rifle). So I’m not to picky on that part. Covy weapons on the other hand have always been something I enjoy listening to…So I can’t give you a definite answer on that since they haven’t been totally shown yet.

Kind of neutral as of now, but the smg I enjoy.

I like the sound of the SMG, but the BR sounds very different. I wish they’d find a definitive sound and stick to it, but eh, as long as sounds good, then I’m fine. :smiley:

If I’m completely honest, I dislike them just as much as I did Halo 4’s. If they put Halo 2 Anniversary’s weapon sounds in Halo 5, I will be over the moon… twice.

Ah, okay. Yeah, everything’s very sci-fi, which is really cool. :smiley:

Edit: I’m still unsure about the AR sound though. Maybe it’s just me, but it sounds kind of weaker compared to other incarnations of the AR.

That’d be cool! Also a good use of resources. They’ve just recorded the new sound effects, why not reuse some?

Probably my biggest issue with the direction their going. The sound of the weapons is just atrocious. That stupid beeping noise that happens after every round you fire is just silly. The BR has basically lost all of the qualities that have made it what it is.

The art direction they’re going (this can consider a lot of areas, including some of the awful armor designs of Halo 4) is becoming less Halo and more generic and uncreative sci-fi universe.

I will say that that high pitched beep every time a player shot an enemy is really annoying. I hope they do something about that.

As for the sounds, as I’ve said, I’ve mixed feelings about them personally. Once I hear some Covenant weapons (will they even be in?) then I’ll be able judge.

I will give credit where it’s due. The Soundeffects so far are pretty amazing, as is the art design. I will say though the one map that looked pretty awful was Breakout.

I would reserve judgment on the sound effects guys. I’m fairly confident most of them are placeholders.

You’re probably right. Though I do wonder if they’ll change anything between now the Beta in December.

I think they need some bass

It all sounds good to me. No complaints in that department so far.

For the most part…
One thing I find a little odd is that the BR’s Burst sounds like it’s only a one shot (like the DMR) and not a 3 shot burst

I thought I was the only one! It really confused me and made me think the BR was now single shot haha.

They need to lower the beeping pitch imo, thats bound to get annoying after a while.

Also, I know this isnt a gun but, the announcer needs fixing,he sounds like he just drank 10 gallons of mountain dew.

If I were to be honest, I have to say I highly dislike the sounds, but since this is a very very early beta build, I hope they will improve upon it… I especially dislike the AR sound it’s just not right :stuck_out_tongue:
