Stock is always preferable if you’re taking on a challenge, but sometimes it’s fun to have unlimited lives, so you can experiment with different loudouts, maps, approaches…
And if you end up being matched with some colossal plonkers, it can be useful
ODST firefight was the real FF for stock lives. “FF Limited” on Reach is a joke. I enjor Arcadefight or true ODST firefight equally, but I refuse to play “Limited” on Reach. On ODST, the only limit was lives. There was no time limit or rounds limit, AND the skulls being turned on each round were random.
I have to say I’m disappointed so far with Reach’s matchmaking firefight. All I seem to get is arcadefight NEP. All that equals is SPARTANS going baller with fuel rod cannons and rockets.
At first I was excited for the unlimited ammo on the sniper rifles… but it’s pretty bad.
A guy yelled at me for my “low score” and “snipers are slow.” Right after a 4x kill. 3 headshots…
It dawned on me then it’s a different game.
My girl and I survived God only knows how long in ODST a couple years back. True Alamo and nail biter to the end. All the skulls were on and we were fresh out of ammo with gravity-hammer brutes heading our way.
Needless to say I’m trying to customize my own firefight with the best of both. Mostly ODST with some better weapon package options.
I still like it more for just enjoying the game with friends over SpartanOPS. I enjoy the idea of an episodic multiplayer story, but the Spartan IV’s are bunch of John Wayne pains.
Kinda puzzles me that people rip on Reach’s Firefight just because it CAN have unlimited lives… Stock lives is still an option and you can play it that way whenever you like. It just isn’t playlisted, is all.
I like stock. It’s kinda boring when you don’t have to worry about pretty much anything with unlimited. Even though I must admit I enjoy unlimited time to time. But nothing is more satisfying then surviving a tough wave. Definitely back in ODST going for the vidmaster challenge with some friend’s.
It’s just hell boring with unlimited lives, I mean what’s the purpose in it?
When firefight was announced to be in reach, I was very excited since I thought it would be something like GoW horde survival feeling. But it’s not anything like that and I was very dissapointed, hence didn’t play it much.

I know! Every single time people vote for Arcade-fight.
And even if 2 people vote for Firefight Limited, Arcade-fight almost ALWAYS gets chosen because it’s at the top of the choices to be chosen.
