I’m not sure if i like them any more. When they just did news on upcoming halo games i thought halo follower was great, but now they just make loads of pointless videos and articles. Also today, they shared a link on their facebook to a video they made one year ago, which was just pure theory on if there will be a halo wars 2. I kind of think they are just trying to milk -Yoink- content for views now. What do you think about halo follower. Like or dislike?
I think HaloFollower is really great and make good videos. sure… lots of videos are pure theory but so are also other videos from other youtuber.
And now the Halo franchise got lots of new players trough the MCC they surely want to know more about Halo and the first step… youtube and/or facebook and search for Halo videos for backgroundstories or other stuff.
I just watched them on the release and duration of Halo 4.
I really didn’t like them to begin with.
Before Halo 4 released he made a video of story details and a load of other nonsense, it turned out the whole video was a complete lie and everything that was in the video was either from outtakes from previous Halo games or just stuff from other games, it was taken down pretty quickly when people found out. I am not sure many people knew about this as he was not that well known of back then, but I do remember sending him a message on Skype or YouTube when he released it and his reason for making the video was something along the lines of… I made the video to show people the kind of stuff I want to create for my YouTube channel, I still don’t understand what he meant by that, but back to the question, do I like HaloFollower? No, I do not like Chris as he lied and I have no time for liars, but I do like the other members of his team that create all the lore videos.
He’s sketchy. That’s all I can really say.
I like it, but honestly, i don’t care about the rewards they give out…
Originally I really liked Chris. True not all of his information was accurate or correct but hes only human. He was a decent source of Halo news that made it easier to keep up with current/future events. However nowadays I’m disliking him more and more every time a new video is released. I can’t quite put my finger on it though. His Halo theories are probably to blame. I just disagree with most of them.
I’m not a big fan, personally. I usually avoid his/their speculation videos, but I do watch some of their stuff.
The Lore/canon videos are pretty … lacking, I feel. I find Halo Canon to be much more useful and informative (a bit more enjoyable to follow in terms of coherent writing).
I do have to say that Halo Follower seems very dedicated, enthusiastic, and hard-working, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a bit a proof-reading before video shoots. At least do a script reading to someone else before hand to at least make sure you know how to pronounce everything. The most recent video had “Cairo” pronounced as “Cario” … it’s said throughout the game several times and is the capitol of a country! And when discussing the skulls for H2A, “Recession” was pronounced as “Re-keshion”, and it’s not like we didn’t just go through a global one of those. I’m just saying, though not a big deal, it’s easily avoidable.
Again, I don’t watch their speculation videos and I get most news from either the forums here or Chief Canuck or Ready Up Live. Though I do admire their work ethic even if a lot of the content seems to be there just for the sake of having content.
Great replys so far. Someone gave halo follower praise for their halo news coverage, which i have to agree is great when there is news. Also, i have to agree that they are hard working even if some of the content is lacking .
I loved Halo Follower before the release of MCC. They kept me up-to-date and released videos with great content everyday. And that is exactly what ruins them. They are only good when there is plenty of news to share. Just like an online magazine. But when news is scarce, they suffer. They have to start repeating old stories, copy someone else, or do speculation about the future. Online magazines do this all of the time. I’ll see WIRED tweet about their new article around 4 or 5 times a day. Then they’ll tweet it again a few days later. Then a few weeks, then a few months, etc. And they’ll just copy other’s articles.
And imagine how bad it’d be if there was NOTHING news-worthy one day. Or for a few weeks. Halo Follower gets just as much info as we do, so right now they can only try to piece news together by hints in other news articles, or talk about Lore and Canon stuff.
So Halo Follower will get better. Then get worse. But then get better again. For instance, they’ll have better videos during/after PAX. And they’ll have great videos for the few weeks before the release of Halo 5.
Aside from that, Halo Follower has no major flaws. Chris does have trouble speaking, but he has a very legitimate reason for it and tries to make up for it. I think that people are spoiled by channels like Rooster Teeth and SourceFed which have a dozen or more people who just make sure the audio, visuals, and mic quality are top-notch. And since YouTube is a platform where anyone can make content, you have to expect varying levels of quality.
All in all, I kind of like Halo Follower right now. I don’t watch every video they put out, but I watch about 1/2 or 1/3 and I’m not disappointed. And I have no plans to cancel my subscription.
Don’t care for them at all. Unsubscribed a long time ago, but not after they gunked up my sub feed with months of poorly-scripted clickbait.
No idea why Chris insists on putting out videos when there’s nothing to cover.
i watch them because im board and curious
I am amazed no one remembers that video he made about this energy drink he was advertising. He was literally selling it and asking others to also sell it. Yes indeed, he made a video for his 100,000+ subscribers trying to get them into a pyramid scheme to make money.
I have followed many channels, and that is by far the most greedy, scammy, and overall evil thing I’ve ever seen anyone do. I don’t know how the -Yoink- he thought he was going to get away with that one, but he of course removed it and it’s so bizarre that I bet no one who wasn’t there themselves would believe it.
Do I like Halofollower? No, -Yoink- no. They’ve done horrible things and produce mediocre to below average content.
Most of his videos are useless information and stupid lore theories. I don’t like him.
Not a fan really. I may have only watched 3 videos, but stopped in the middle because they were either completely wrong, completely boring, or a combo of both.

I didn’t know about that.
You might want to edit your post a bit … calling out an individual (especially by name) is a ban-able offense.
I went ahead and took it out of the quote.

You’re right, I edited towards what I really meant with that to be more specific to the channel, thanks.

I remember that.
Honestly, I think that channel has potential, but I can’t count how many times I’ve commented on videos pointing out inconsistencies and canon mistakes and stressing that he needs to slow down only to be ignored.

Gotta love that video about cut halo 3 content showing a ton of clips of halo reach cut content that used halo 3’s graphical assets, pretty much showing that he saw the footage, saw that it looked like halo 3, did no research, then made a video immediately. Also, manure armor. I think I’m done with them, ultimate halo so far is living up to whatever potential isn’t being utilized on halofollower in terms of fact checks, community attention and participation, news coverage, and content quality, the only thing they don’t have is enough subscribers.
I love HaloFollower. I have been subscribed to their YouTube channel since the beginning and I love that they enjoy working hard for us fans who are too lazy to find the news themselves. And their videos aren’t “pointless”, they just review the same stuff a lot so that it actually gets into our minds and we get excited about it.
