No, I am not trying to troll.
When I first played Spartan Ops, I absolutely HATED IT. It fell short of what 343i advertised it to be, the chapters were too lackluster, 343 didn’t even use their absolutely perfect, beautiful Spartan Ops menus from the Infinity trailers, and it seemed like they were going for quantity over quality. To me, it did not really feel like a “second campaign”.
Now, however, my opinion has drastically changed and I LOVE Spartan Ops. And while I know that people don’t really like the repetitive button-pressing, I personally love pressing the buttons. I always have Mobility in my loadouts so I can press the buttons before the rest of my Fireteam Crimson can. I think I enjoy the button-pressing a bit too much, as it never gets boring for me.
Do you guys have a big problem with button pressing? I’ve seen a lot of people complain about it, but I really don’t see it as a problem.
Just think like RvB Caboose and you’ll be fine, he loves pushing buttons.
It doesn’t bother me. I neither hate it nor like it. I am neutral on it.
I don’t have a problem with it, but I can understand the sentiment that harder/more challening objectives are needed for cooperative modes like Spartan OPs that don’t revolve around clearing out enemies and pushing a button.
It’s ok actually, moments when my friends and I are in a firefight and we have to activate something, I’ll tell my friends to cover me and I’ll run in between the crossfire and activate it
Moments like those make you appreciate it, it’s really dependent on how you like immersion

I don’t think it’s the button pressing that is the problem.
It’s the OBJECTIVES that we do in Spartan Ops that is the problem. Most objectives are just kill. Why couldn’t they be something like;
-
Defend humans/scientists (this has been done before in SpOPS but in very few missions)
-
All Fireteam members must split up to complete different tasks in a limited period of time.
-
Eliminate targeted enemies before they escape. If a number of them escape before you can eliminate these enemies, you will fail the mission.
-
Pelican missions! How cool would it be to see your Spartan sit in the Pelicans? (This can already be done through glitches and tricks without any hacks or mods)
-
Stealth missions (if you alert enemies of your presence such as shooting them instead of playing stealthy, you will face more waves of enemies and the outcome can be different)
-
Destroy Covie/Promethean generators before time runs out.
Button Pressing is fun.
Spartan Ops is not.

I enjoy Spartan Ops 6x more than multiplayer and Firefight when I am playing with a full team of friends.
Your opinion, however.

Isn’t a majority of any video game button pressing?
> Isn’t a majority of any video game button pressing?
You’re pressing buttons in the real world to press buttons in a video-game. Whoa, SpartanOPScEPTION!
I think they could get more creative with the whole button pushing thing, remember with the original Halo not all of the objectives had you pushing a button.
Remember when the objective was to use your shields to knock out the generators?
Or in Halo 2 (Outskirts) when you go through the tunnels on a ghost to chase and destroy those covy vehicles (don’t know what they’re called)
These are just two examples but there are several other things that can make for great objectives other than buttons.
I just thought it got really tedious after a while, changing the button pushing animations was a good idea but it’s still just the same thing over and over.
I do…gives you the feeling that you, are the main character.
It’s not the act of pressing buttons that’s the problem. It’s the fact that it’s all you do.
a) Move Forward
b) Kill Covenant
c) Press Button
d) GOTO A
(add in spawning in at any moment)
It doesn’t help that the enemies are mostly boring to fight and unlike previous Halo games, their A.I doesn’t dramatically change at any moment.
I dub thee, HERETIC.
jk
If there’s one thing people should be hating, it should be those big blue Covie shields. Practically every mission of Spartan Ops has it. Instead of using clever terrain changes, they just put up these shields and call it a new mission (these shields also stop us from exploring the level).
I don’t know about you but I don’t need these constant reminders that I’m stuck in the map.
CHANGE IT UP 343.
Flood Complex, take Valhalla to the skies, giveusunderwaterlevelonWarrens! What happened to those diabolical death rivers you crafted on Reclaimer?

You forgot the promethean killing, good ol’ promethean killing

That’s what I’m talkin’ about. there needs to be more than just point-kill-push button-repeat. They did introduce some pretty cool SpOps maps though.
Me know nothin’, me no tell. Me push button, run like hell.
In all seriousness, I like it if it is necessary. Unfortunately, almost everything requires a button.
