At some point I wanna try and see if I can achieve Champion in FFA without using the Assault Rifle(my main weapon), the SMG or the Storm Rifle for fun/a challenge. I tried just winning a single FFA in general this way a long time ago and miserably failed.
I’m curious, does anyone else intentionally restrict themselves for the sake of improvement in any matchmaking games? If so how? I’m looking for inspiration.
I don’t but here’s a few challenges for you.
no sprint
no smart link
magnum only
no reload
switch weapons every time you get a kill
if you die, you must get a melee kill, you cannot use any other weapon
that’s all I got for the moment

The first three aren’t that bad, i’ll admit i got a little carried away with the last two. Also from the no reload challenge, it would help build self control. Have you ever reloaded but didn’t need to -say maybe fired off one round- and while reloading you die?

I’ve miscalculated bullets and reloaded mid-fight when I thought someone was suppose to die and didn’t but that was it.
I kind of wish they had a shield handicap feature like Halo 2 had (forgot exactly what it was called but you could lower your shields to half/no shields/ etc. to give yourself a bigger challenge. That would be nice.
Not in ranked play. I to have the goal of champion in FFA but find I need to get better with the pistol to do it but will use every weapon for it’s particular role. However I have done that in warzone where I either say no reqs or no vehicles or I can only use random req cards… Stuff like that.

You might be ready as is, I rarely used the pistol alone in fights, it was typically just a quick draw when my AR was low.

I think I can do it but unfortunately with my work schedule I can never put in the play time. I get to low onyx usually.
Handicapping yourself doesn’t promote skill in Halo 5’s case, just bad habits. The nature of its upgrade based sandbox doesn’t allow much room for growth with the starting weaponry.
No I don’t. It gives more frustration over fun when I try to restrict the weapons, vehicles or power ups I should use. Only tried it once and never done a personal challenge ever again.
If you’re Champ using CQB-short range and avoiding short-medium, and the others aren’t countering you, that’s not the weapon, that’s YOU.
You have to remember something about how you win, it’s that many are not doing it the same way you are. And skill with a precision weapon is just 1 type of skill in a broad set, low on the totem of importance.
So you may indeed be winning against players unknowingly, yet purposely, handicapping themselves because they’re not using the map as efficiently as you are because of their weapon choice.
When you try to play like others, at that high a level, you are handicapping your conditioned skill within the game. You are effective the way you are, not because of how you shoot, but because of how you use the map against players you want to try and be like.
It will take time and practice to be just as good… But different… If you want to be a Champ using precisions more.

Dude, I’m just trying to keep a Gold CSR lol.
But I’m jealous that you’re that good!!
dude, I suck. I got gold once. I think i tried to do something like that once, and I couldn’t take it. If i was to do this, i would probably do it in infection or something that is social because I would -yoink- up my CSR

Guessing by your stats it would only take 2-3 days if you do it the very instant a season begins, you could plan ahead and ask for those days off wen you find out season 11’s date. That’s what I did lol.

Bad habits? I’m very curious on how so, like camping and cheap tricks?

What was your personal challenge and what gametype?

It was in Halo Reach in BTB and the challenge was to kill only using the Magnum if the map has the Magnum to begin with. The results weren’t so good and I tried to get a K/D ratio of at least 1.1 and 3 matches of me trying ended with a .5 K/D ratio or a little over.

THANK YOU! I’m going to remember your words when I get yelled at again for mainly using the shotgun in Shotty Snipers(people act like I’m playing the game wrong just because I don’t use the sniper a lot, not that it stops me
)!
And also THANK YOU for saying that precision weapon use is low on the totem pole, I personally never believed in that whole “Those are the only weapons that require skill” bit. I was really considering the challenge of no auto’s in FFA only because it’s a way to change things up and keep it fresh for me, I’ve won plenty of times using the AR only(naturally, not for a challenge) so I figured using the only other available weapon would be a good way of doing it. If I had it my way I’d replace the AR with the Suppressor.
