Halo 4 brought the Didact into the games, giving us our 1st look at an actual Forerunner. We all know at the end of the game Chief puts a plant on him and he falls into the slipspace portal. Then in Escalation he faced off with Chief and the rest of Blue Team, eventually leading to him getting composed. Later on, a coloring book claimed that he actually accessed and is in the Domain. However, Grim did say not to take this statement all that serious, with it coming from a kids’ coloring book. With Infinite, we know nothing about the plot, except with that opening cutscene. For Infinite, do you hope that the Didact returns in some capacity, being either a villain or even hero?
While I still hold on hope to the idea that the Gravemind is secretly the one pulling Cortana’s strings, I could definitely see the Didact being the one doing the string pulling. He was such an interesting character in the Forerunner Trilogy and definitely deserves more than what he received.
Yes I liked the Didact and felt his character was wasted after getting rid of him after one game, felt like there was so much more potential there. I even think it’s a possibility he’s manipulating Cortana.
He’ll be back…
Greatness awaits!
I honestly have few narrative points I’d ever want to see revisited less in the Halo franchise than the whole “Awakening of the ancient evil Voldemort Type” that the Didact represents.
I strongly disliked his role in Halo 4 as an all-powerful endgame warden boss, as I felt it didn’t accord with anything the series had established up until that point. It seemed like 343i was attempting to setup Didact as Chief’s arch-nemesis, which felt bizarre given that Halo hadn’t ever occupied that sort of genre trope before. Chief isn’t a superhero, he’s a super soldier. He doesn’t need a super villian, he needs a war to fight. It just feels bizarre and off when they tried to recast the whole dynamic of MC’s character around the Reclaimer paradigm in Halo 4. Just my opinions, of course.
So, I personally very much don’t want to see or hear from the Didact again in a mainline Halo game.
Absolutely, the forerunners being enemies is the only way I can see Halo’s story progressing logically after H4 and the didact becomes necessary for that. I don’t give a damn about H5’s story
I still wish the Warden would’ve been revealed to be the Composed Didact in Halo 5. Still have my fingers crossed, but I doubt that’d happen. Here’s to hoping we see him back in some form, though!
Didact could be the best villain in Halo history,he should be back😎
Maybe he will come back in a prometheus body like Spark.
Nope. Hoping him and the prometheans somehow just get written out. Their designs are terrible and fighting them is even worse.
Yeh, loved to see his return. He was one of the few things I liked about Halo 4, his current fate is unknown in the comics.
I didn’t really like him too much, Warden Eternal reminded me of him enough.
He was dissapointing in halo 4. If he’s gon a come back in Infijite, I want him to be more interesting. Warden eternal was worse.
I think he will come back… all he did was fall of a light bridge…

there is a lot that happened after that. He was eventually composed in Halo escalations
No. All the nuance to his character died millennia ago, now he’s just insane and flood-corrupted.
He should have never been there. He wasn’t really fun to fight. Kind of a big let down.
I could see him alive but I honestly don’t know how I feel about him being back. Now the gravemind holding and controlling him could be sick.
