I keep hearing these constant complaints of weapon nerfing, weapon nerfing, gametype tweaking. Community, relax. Besides Halo CE, every Halo has had a tweak since it’s release. (Yes, even Halo Wars got one) Why is everyone up in arms and quitting a game knowing the track record of the Halo franchise?
I, for one hope the update won’t ruin the game like the Reach update splitting the community into two different factions. I love Halo 4 the way it. I’ll save you the Halo resume. I’ve adapted so much through the series and frankly I like it.
The constant complaining of gametypes and weapons, sheesh people. I am damn sure if Halo CE had XBL, I am sure there would of been patches (I can name a few complaints of weapons, or glitches)
I am not going to rant about “ohhh adapt” or “deal with it its a game” but Halo community you can’t honestly feel that since Halo CE till now there hasn’t been a change of skills/abilities/gametypes. Right. That is because every game has had a new element players had to adjust to.
So please before you rage quit and threaten to go to CoD or say Reach is better, be patient young grasshopper. I have faith in 343. A group of dedicated Halo fans themselves, will make this game right.
They for sure but they are on holiday break right now were probably going to have to wait until the holidays to end for the patches to start coming in.
> It’s the lack of acknowledgment, instead of addressing it in their bulletin updates they don’t say anything.
EXACTLY, I for one and I know personally dozens of others that we would all be extremely happy if they said try were patching it. Even if they said that it wouldn’t be until the summer, I would still wait patiently. This complete lack of acknowledgment. Like we don’t exist. Is feeling like a slap in the face.
I do believe that Halo 4 will continue to improve as we progress towards the Spring of 2013. The Halo experience is such a tall order to fill. The Campaign, MM, Sp Ops, and Forge mode have to be robust and generous. 343i chose the difficult task of making this title “Everything for everyone.” That is a nearly impossible task. But I give them credit for climbing that mountain. This edition of Halo has been outstanding, 343i has earned some good faith. Do I take issue with certain technical aspects of the game? Certainly! But patience goes a long way towards seeing these issues resolved.
When you see the myriad of nonsensical complaints here on the forums, posted with little civility or etiquette, you can’t help but feel sympathetic towards the 343i staff members who have to wade through it all looking for legitimate concerns.
I have much appreciation for not only the staff members at 343i who worked quickly to address several initial issues (and will continue to do so), but also for the responsible community members who brought it their attention in a composed and respectable fashion. Your good manners are applauded.
I believe it’s going to get patched. My problem with 343 is the lack of communication with the community. I’m done with halo 4 until the patch because of how frustrating it is (for me at least). I will come back with an open mind and hope things get fixed. I would just like it, as I’m sure everyone would, if 343 would tell us what’s happening. It doesn’t have to be a timeline, but it’s gotta be more than we’re looking into it or we’re working on something.

When they released the first patch, they said another is on the way when they had their explanation of what the patched fixed. They will not say when until they are finished since fixing one thing can break another, and adding a deadline to it will be bad for both the devs and the community that will have to endure it.
Be patient. They are working on it, and chose to get the obvious, more gametype breaking problems first. If you think not saying anything is a slap to the face, think of it this way: They’d much rather have you complain about how long it takes to patch the game, over you complaining about how that patch you want out quickly ended up breaking the game more than it fixed.

Honestly,
-Bulletins and BS angel posts.
-They tell people that the first TU would be about bugs and glitches fixes, and it was and it was fixed.
-343 says crimson pack would be a BTB and objective oriented map pack and that the next map packs would feature smaller maps and 4v4 and 2v2.
-They say that forge maps will come early 2013.
-They tell people time and time again file share will be fixed early 2013.
-They say that weekly updates are for bugs and glitches and that they wont release what bugs all the time but they will try, obvious reasoning SO MORE People can’t abuse it.
-They tell you that CSR(RANKING) has no offical date but they are working hard on it.
-They tell you that grifball, team doubles and a updated slayer pro based on feedback will be released early 2013
-They tell you that mlg will be released once the mlg community has their rules and settings done.
-They tell you that balance and sandbox issues will be listed when they have more hard facts on what they want done if anything.
-They tell you that maps will be rotated and they will adjust those playlists based on fan feedback and their popularity( FOR EXAMPLE SWAT STAYING IN)
What people need to understand is they cannot possible respond to everything you want and hold your hand through everything. For example, someone actually tweeted a 343 employee, who just said that a family member had to go to the hospital for a major issue in that tweet “When are you guys gonna -Yoinking!- fix your game patch this custom games this and so forth more hateful words.” this community has shown how immature and entitled they have become.

That would be nice, certainly. And to a degree, they have been a bit tight lipped. However, as I’m sure you can remember from previous titles, there has been a wise lesson gleaned from discussing issues before a reasonable fix is available (or at least nearly available). Though it feels as though Halo 4 has been out for a while, it has been a relatively short time for 343i since launch. Their Sustain Team has just opened shop.
I do think some of these issues could have been avoided with a beta. I do think some of these issues were due to growing pains. And I do believe some of these issues were caused by a conflict in design principles.
But 343i has been responding well, the first TU addressed some critical points. That gives me assurance. I can see your point. An (increased) open line of communication between the developers and the consumers would be a fine luxury indeed.
However, there is really no need to open themselves to that sort of liability yet. There are a lot of necks on the line with Halo 4, it’s no surprised they are reserved with their statements. If they truly drop the ball and allow MM to flounder on technical issues (resulting in, let’s say, around 30% drop-off in participants… that’s very arbitrary, but the point is made), then I would expect a hearty discussion initiated by 343i detailing the issues at hand.

gears of war 2 had a similiar outcome in which thousands upon thousands of people left after TU6 came out (my brother being one of them), so yeah they have to be very cautious about changing things or else they could wind up making the game even worse.
…this community has shown how immature and entitled they have become.

I have no argument there, but a reminder that this gaming community is by no means unique. We’re seeing a typical response to a very popular and accessible game. I think 343i has done a fantastic job providing an ear to the community, even as that process might not be readily apparent to some of the members.
Not only should we extend our patience towards 343i, but the Halo 4 community as well (which is adding a whole new generation of fans thanks to Halo 4). An open forum is always going to be rife with complaints of all varieties.
But the legitimate channels of communication seem to be functioning rather well in spite of the times. As you list, the information is available to those who are willing to take the time.

Yep while i do agree the game has some faults and i quite agree with people who post constructive criticism, when i saw someone from halo waypoint basically Rage at a 343 employee who just said his sister was in the hospital. I pretty much was embarrassed that’s what our community has come too.
Well to be frank a two month wait for a balance patch is taking the proverbial in modern FPS games. Especially considering the major competition is patching much much faster, resolving more issues, taking notice of customer feedback, and making an effort to secure its software further from hacks.
MS with Halo by contrast has;
No fileshare search
No web access to fileshare uploads
No youtube integration for replays
Done one patch for minor fixes,
Botched the specs promotion
Botched the map pack release
Stopped Spartan Ops episodes for a month
Capped all non spec code owners till at least after the new year
Then publicly stated that nothing else will be patched till well after the new year.
Is it any wonder people are leaving the game at this time?
