I say no for one thing that bugs me, microtransactions. It has no place in Infinite in the first place cause it’ll give a sense of pulling out your wallet for armor you already earned from the last games. There is no actual justification for this system, and it’s NOT optional cause the only way to get credits is to BUY them or BUY the BattlePass.
Well as bad as MCC was at launch 343 eventually got it to a very awesome and superior Halo game. Infinite has potential but who knows how long before they get it am awesome game.
I don’t think hundreds of thousands will rush back for Forge and Co-Op. We’ve already seen the Forge leaks and it’s basically just Halo 5 Forge with a new coat of paint.
Right now, 343 is back to where it was with the MCC doing damage control on its reputation. So steady updates every six months to slowly bring in some content and missing launch features.
lol, youre in for a pleasant surprise.
So 8 months into a game and the whole while stringing people along. I got the game pass because 343 said Halo infinite was going to be a live service game, and there would be great new content added regularly to the campaign with co-op and multi-player. They got their money’s worth from me with that one.
It really is the same formula casinos use with slot machines, 343 will drip feed content so people feel like a winner, but we are spending way more money than it was ever worth. So do I trust someone who lies all the time to get what they want, and who says what I want to hear just to keep me quiet … Nope, no realistic hope for this game, possibly some unrealistic hope … eh.
Maybe with:
- Forge
- region / server selection for better connection in matches
- Gamemodes like warzone, firefight gets a comeback
The prediction I had is they will find a way to monotize Forge, and remember if the do, it means they spent plenty of time and money researching how to get players to spend over and over and over so it’s not going to be some unoticable way.
Possibly to file share you will need tokens, which can be purchased.
Or who knows they may take items previous free in other Forge modes and paywall them.this game is a F2P live service so don’t expect Forge to just come out with everything free to the players they are trying to maximize profits with this game. Given the popularity of Forge I wouldn’t put it past them to Do it.
Honestly I think it’s just a few suites making these choices and thus why they come off so out of touch with the community.
They are first and foremost a business trying to make money.
This would make forge very unpopular.
We’re in the worst time line if that happens.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened.
This would kill infinite.
I have been playing this game on xbox without having to spend money for online play unlike previous halos. There are plenty of free armour with more to come. We can only equip one armour part per core, what for have so many armours when it does not affect gameplay? I much prefer this being free to having to buy the whole game and also xbl gold.
You have like…
Low Standards.
Its not healthy Chief.
You prefer a.
-Free game with low quality service, with a content store that requires a bare minimum investment of $10 to enjoy anything. Where the cumulative cost to enjoy 100% customization options cost $1000+
That’s missing 90% of the social features critical to the games community.
Over a,
-$60 Cost for a Full Campaign game + Online Multiplayer, where all the customization options are available and free. Where you and everyone else can customize yourself in whatever way you want.
With Fully integrated social features.
Just because the first option is “free”?
Do schools not teach basic economics anymore?
Cost/Benefit analysis? The thing they Teach in Economics 101?
Its no wonder the Games industry is being utterly corrupted by this Satanic Playbook for predatroy game design.
There is no need to buy anything from the store because it does not affect your skill or performance in game. They also changed the pricing after feedback. It was never supposed to be “low quality”.
I will take the yes because forge is coming this year if I’m not wrong. Thus means that you can recreate famous maps from other halo games.
Halo 2 Zanzibar
Blood Gulch
Battle creek
Chiron TL34
And you can create your own battle Royal map and maybe they can be used in battle royal style
No. I’m a fan of the game, but it seems season content or delayed features will fix the animus of the core game against social/casual.
PvE, I think in some form, would draw in a lot.
Some sort of nod to good social features like matchmaking pre-game voting, pre/post match chat, encouraging team play of some sort, etc.
I’m pretty sure a marketplace would be better than a fixed stream of canned content from 343i.
remember it’s not devs making this choices it’s the suites, this is a F2P game, money is everything to them.
They have already made choices with this game that are not very popular but still keep making a profit from it so I don’t think they care if it makes it unpopular so long as they can show shareholders a profit.
It sucks but if they monetize forge and there is huge outcry, there will still be enough people willing to. Buy stuff to justify doing it.
And they won’t get rid of it, they will just do what they are doing with the store, experimenting with prices, seeing what they can push an d get away with.
It’s pretty bad when we are evoth in agreement that we wouldn’t be surprised if they went down this route.
And honestly if their is Outcry you know sketch is just going to say something condescending as usual.
First it was Bro these servers aren’t cheap, than it was like go play other games man.
They really need to just let Unyshek do that talking Sketch comes off like a guy who gets pissy if we don’t like what they give us and don’t have criticism
It’s because 343 has exceeded my worst expectations in almost every aspect.
-
The Armor Core system is horrible.
-
The coating system is wasted potential.
-
Aggressive monetization & FOMO through the roof. And a shop that isn’t even good at selling items (lame bundles & lack of daily sales)
-
Horrible Challenge system (no lessons learned from 3, Reach, 4, 5 or MCC)
-
Glitches everywhere (this is the first game I’ve played where simply punching someone is a coin toss)
-
Lack of playlists (getting better, but hiding behind the F2P model to slowly release legacy game modes like KOTH is lame)
-
BTB was broken for like 2 months.
-
Lack of PvE modes
-
Lack of Social features
-
Slow updates uncharacteristic of F2P games.
-
Highpower
-
Absent weapons/vehicles
-
I disagree with the general direction of weapon balance in Infinite
-
Scope glint (H5’s version of it was sufficient)
-
Hiding behind the F2P excuse yet still selling a $60 campaign
-
Open world was pretty dull and uninspired
In general I’ve been holding off judgement on the Campaign until I’ve seen later DLC. Infinite’s story is very much unfinished (30% of the map suspiciously unexplorable…)
And the music is probably the only thing 343 absolutely nailed. “Never Tell Me The Odds” is so good. And the artstyle is great too.
Whats the point though, by the time they release everything its gonna be time for a new halo that has limited content, but dont worry they’ll gradually roll it out over the next couple years…and guess what…just in time for the next halo after that to release lol.
What a joke of a system. But its one 343 has perfected lolllll
I wonder why Microsoft doesn’t seem to care….
Because Bill Gates is no longer the CEO of Microsoft and someone from Marketing always takes over the company when the OG founders leave it to retire and do other stuff . . . or die off.
For example, notice how as soon as Steve Jobs passed away and his Marketing Team took over the company; every product doubled or tripled in price while stagnating in quality?
This is because Marketing people typically prefer to look at business as “How little effort can I put into the work, how much product does a product need before I can sell it to someone? And how much branding can I put into the price tag?”
This is a combination of “efficiency” & “iconography”.
What difference is there between a regular Walmart bought jacket for $30 - $60 versus the $1000 Supreme brand jacket?
Marketing.
Name brand value and just about nothing more.
The current heads at Microsoft view the Halo Brandname as something to use with a con-artist mindset.
“What is the bare minimum amount of effort we have to put into quality assurance in order to maximize profits?”
Take Halo 4 for example.
Just around 10 MILLION units sold to retailers world-wide.
And yet it never passed 410,000 players online in a single day, with a year later on day 365 of being live the player count didn’t pass 10,000 online.
Did the executives at Microsoft care?
Most likely not as they sold 10 Million units to retailers.
It doesn’t matter how many refunds people got of the game, because the retailers pay for those refunds; not Microsoft.
They were probably mad however that 2/3 of the DLC content was scrapped because there was no longer a player-base large enough to yield a profit margin large enough to counter-balance the budget cost of said DLCs.
And so, with Halo 5 they insisted that the bare minimum of changes occur to gameplay to keep players invested, and added in REQ Packs with War Zone to keep profits rolling in.
And now lets look at Halo Infinite.
They baited us with Halo Reach as the focus for development.
And then when we got the game, we see that they literally copied Fortnite as their marketing strategy.
- Free-to-Play multiplayer
- Full-Price PvE Story experience
- Literally Fortnite’s Cosmetic Shop System
And now all we have to do is wait for them to update the game with “new” content in the form of cosmetics that already exist in the game and are just vaulted because they are creating the demand by getting players addicted to the system and demanding more. They are going to update the game with “new” weapons and modes . . . new to Infinite but ancient to Halo no doubt.
Long-story-short.
DO NOT let the Marketing Team take over your company.
Look at what it did to Apple.
“It like a PC, but more affordable while doing more.”
*Steve Jobs dies
*Marketing Team takes over
“Buy the new iPhone. What does it do? We took out the headphone jack, added a new camera, and we are going to charge you $900 for something that is VERY MUCH the same thing. Oh and we also updated your current iPhone to be worse so you HAVE to buy this one to keep up-to-date and smooth. Or you know, switch to Android. But you aren’t poor are you? You don’t want your other friends to think you don’t got money right? Your status is at risk. Just buy the new iPhone that we didn’t really innovate on and decided to charge you $750 more than it costs to produce and ship.”
At least this is my theory on why Microsoft isn’t doing much to improve Halo’s image.
Imagine if Nintendo was this sloppy with Mario?
Or Capcom with Megaman?
Or Valve with Half-Life?
Or Disney with Mickey Mouse?
Or Lamborghini with their car lines?
