Do you have 880 Halo 4 Gamerscore?

And if not, why not! 880 Gamerscore-worth of Achievements are currently obtainable (the remaining 120 Gamerscore will be available by the end of Episode 5 of Spartan Ops). Let’s help each other out and spread the love.

Dawn - Requiem - Forerunner - Infinity - Reclaimer - Shutdown - Composer - Midnight (Total: 80 GS)

Just play through the campaign on any difficulty. If you do it on Normal or higher (like you should be doing) these achievements will stack with the difficulty-specific ones.

Wake Up John - I Need a Hero - The Legend of 117 (Total: 130 GS)

Complete the campaign on Normal, Heroic and Legendary. The quickest way is to play through on Legendary and you’ll get all three achievements.

Tip: Do this co-operatively. Many hands make light work, and as long as one player is living at all times you won’t have to worry abut being reset to the last checkpoint. You’ll also pick up the Bropocalypse achievement.

Tip: Some people are saying that this achievement is glitched for them. To improve your chances of this achievement being recognised, try to play straight through whenever possible (including the prologue chapter). If you have to quit out and return to a level, always begin at Rally Point Alpha. Sometimes your in-game Career doesn’t match up to your Waypoint record, so check both to find out which missions you need to repeat.

Lone Wolf Legend (90 GS)

This one is tricky. Learn the levels playing in co-op or on lower difficulties and then just suck it up and hope for the best. If you persevere you can make it. Play cautiously, and try to always have an EMP weapon on you to take down Elites shields, and a headshot weapon to follow-up. An overcharged plasma pistol also works great on Knights.

Skulduggery (15 GS)

Do a campaign mission with three skulls and on Heroic or harder.

Tip: Choose the easiest three skulls, Cowbell, Grunt Birthday and IWHBYD, and play Dawn. You can just run through a lot of this level. To make it even easier, play co-op and when you get to the missile firing sequence, have one player already standing by the missile ready to unjam it.

Tip: Play this co-operatively and all players will get the achievement.

Bropocalypse - Bromageddon (Total 50 GS)

Do the campaign co-op on Heroic or harder. Not a difficult achievement to get because ideally you’ll be playing through the whole game co-operatively anyway.

Contact the Domain - Terminus (60 GS)

Find all the campaign Terminals. I’ve got to say that out of the last 4 Halo games, Halo 4 has the easiest campaign collectables. Most of the Terminals are barely off the beaten track (and the levels are mostly very linear anyway) so you should stumble across them all with no real effort anyway.

If you’re stuck, Roosterteeth have a handy guide:

Digging up The Past - Midnight Launch - This is My Rifle - Bros to The Close - Mortardom - Explore the Floor - Give Him the Stick - Chief Smash (160 GS)

These are the mission-specific achievements and they’re pretty good fun, a bit of a challenge, and almost always easier when you’re playing co-op. I’m not going to give full text walkthoughs here because there’s no point, the descriptions are self-explanatory and if you get stuck, use RoosterTeeth’s excellent video guides:

Note: This is My Rifle, Bros to the Close, and Mortardom all need to be done on Heroic or harder. All the others can be done on Easy.

Tip: Only the driver will be awarded the achievement on Midnight Launch. If you’re playing co-op make sure to use both Warthogs, or swap over really quickly.

Tip: This is My Rifle is possibly even more difficult on co-op as you’ll often respawn with non-UNSC weapons. Get ready to revert to the last checkpoint if this happens, especially in the final Ghost section, which is annoying as hell.

Tip: In Bros to the Close, make sure you have all 6 marines BEFORE you go through the door. Avoid giving them Railguns as they tend to blow themselves up…

Tip: To do Mortardom, load the level at Rally Point Bravo and when in the “Sniper Alley” section, pick up and keep a plasma pistol as this is your last chance to get one. Fight through until the portal and when you appear, jump in a scorpion. Kill all the Ghosts and then kill all the remaining UNSC troops and vehicles or they’ll steal your kills. Shoot the nearest Wraith once with the Scorpion to kill the gunner, then use your plasma pistol to EMP and board it. The rest of the level is easy. You can do this co-op but only one player will get the achievement.

Not Some Recruit Any More - Movin’ On Up - I Heart Red Vs Blue - Hangin on the Combat Deck (85 GS)

Easy. Just play War Games until you get these.

Operation Completion - A Legendary Episode - Crimson Alone (75 GS)

Play through Spartan Ops Ep 1 on Legendary. Actually quite easy as even playing solo (for Crimson Alone) you still get infinite respawns with no penalty.

Roses vs Violets (20 GS)

Find one of the Red vs Blue Easter eggs. Currently there are two, on Ep1Ch5 and Ep2Ch5. Do it co-op and the whole party will get the achievement.

No One Left Behind (20 GS)

Play Spartan Ops Ep2Ch3 on Heroic and make sure at least one Marine survives. Best done co-op, quickly rescue the three marine groups then jetpack to the main structure and give all the marines Spartan Lasers. Have one guy guard the entrance against Elites. very difficult solo, much easier co-op.

Knight in White Assassination (20 GS)

Play SpOps, assassinate a Knight. To make this easier play co-op and on Easy. Active Camo really helps. The Knights actually are a lot more predictable than Elites, and if you kill their Watchers and keep your distance, the lesser Knights will sometimes lose interest in you and go back to their patrol routes. If youy;re playing co-op, have one player with Hardlight Shield be the bait, and you can run up and assassinate the Knight.

The Challenged - The Challenger (total 30 GS)

If you’ve been playing since launch you should have 25 challenges by now! The Spartan Ops weeklies are usually very easy and you’ll get these just by playing that week’s Episode. Try to do the War Games dailies every day and you’ll soon have these achievements.

Actually, this achievement was glitched for me and only popped when I got my 26th challenge.

Armorer - Badge - PWNED - Poser - Game Changer - Snapshot - Director - Sharing is Caring (Total 45 GS)

Really simple. The one that people seem to be finding tricky is Game Changer because Halo 4 has a difficult menu system. Just follow these steps:

  • Go to Infinity
  • Go to War Games, Custom
  • Mess around with some settings
  • Go to Game Options
  • Hit Y
  • Name the variant.

The Ones Nobody Has Yet

Dedicated to Crimson - What Power Outage - No Easy Way Out (total 120 GS)

Keep playing Spartan Ops as they are released and by the end of Episode 5 you should have these three.

Roll on the DLC and more Achievements!

I have 860 right now. Just got the challenges one to get and of course the ones I can’t get to the remaining spartan ops episodes come out.

Hmm, good post! I’m sure many people will find it helpful, and I was going to shoot for grabbing the remaining possible ones in the next couple days.

Does anybody have any questions or requests for info about getting the achievements so far? And, what achievements do people hope to see in the upcoming DLC?

Personally, I hope we don’t get just horribly specific multiplayer stuff, like some of the Halo 3/Reach DLC achievements.

I stopped Achievement hunting a long time ago after I realized that no one gives a ****. It was a sad day indeed.

I’m usually the guy who has a huge bulk of all the achievements in the first few weeks, but I want something to fall back on if I get bored considering I’ll be playing this game for at least the next 2 years and I feel like I rush a game if I do that. I’m currently sitting at 730G (so I practically have a huge bulk) On the other hand, I really hope the DLC has lots of achievements like H3’s mythic map pack which had 12.

Not yet, I havent even approached the co-op achievements yet, but its next on my “to do” list.

Does having a high gamerscore give you anything? Like do you get a prize or something from Microsoft or whatever?

This is not a sarcastic post, I’m serious

Not necessarily. Recently they started a promotion where you get a measly 2% off your XBL purchases and some digital rewards here and there if you have a gamerscore above 25k, but you get no tangible goods out of it. Gamerscore and achievement systems in general compare progress, experience, and dedication between users as kind of a system-wide leaderboard. Some people take it too seriously while some think it’s just stupid since they don’t get the point of it.
