hello guys :3… I was just wondering if you guys wanted to see a slightly improved assault rifle in the game, since the one in reach is kinda weak and sorta completely useless against a DMR even in close quarters… so I was kinda hoping the gun becomes a little more stronger so that its not so useless compared to other weapons…
Only in terms of its range, but if the AR is improved, then so must weapons of similar capabilities (eg. the Plasma Rifle/Repeater), otherwise it will dominate its competitors.
Also the kill time needs to be that of Halo 3 (16 rounds) and not Reach’s (18 rounds) to keep it competitive.
A slight buff, higher rate of fire, and less range. Either that, or pop in the smg, and improve the range and damage of the AR.
I love the AR.
But honestly, after 4 games in a row where it’s role has been identical in each game.

No. If you want something new there’s plenty of other shooters out there.
There needs to be some sort of AR/SMG in Halo 4.
I’d personally love a 60 round magazine once more.
Yeah it would be nice if it was beefed up a little and maybe a alt-mode like a grenade launcher. But that would be too much like COD. Definitely punch up the audio for it. It was better in reach but in H3 it sounded like rain hitting plastic sheets.
well what would you like more… a gun that kills in about 16 rounds or a gun that kills in 18 rounds but has a larger magazine lets say… 45-60?

Because some people think the AR is unskilled and thus should be useless.
well there’s like balancing issues if you improved every gun and such but I was thinking that the AR was the only gun that needed an improvement… it just felt like the most useless gun
A better AR would definitely balance out the sandbox, which is currently dominated by the DMR.

They need to just keep the one from the first game except make it 20 percent more accurate and make the clip size about 48
There are other ways to make the AR more useful. Make it more effective against vehicles for instance.

does it kinda make sense to you that a precision weapon kills faster then an assault rifle with a lower rate of fire even at close ranges? If it was at longer ranges that would be respectable but at closer ranges its still quite easy to aim a precision weapon and kill them at a faster rate with or without a head shot
I think the real problem with the Assault rifle in previous games was the atempt to make it a “spawn weapon”. Honestly, the pistol needs to take the place as the primary spawn weapon. The pistol should be a 5 shot head shot weapon, and an 8 body shot weapon. If the pistol was the spawn weapon, the assault rifle could be beefed so that it is not overpowered. Additionally weapon bloom should be removed, these things together will make the Assault rifle the weapon it should be, and not a crap spawning weapon you throw away at first change.

Do you not know how much Aim-Assist makes things easier to kill? Its all part of gameplay and leave realism out(This is a Halo a Sci-FI shooter. Here an example of one of the most competitive Sci-Fi title to date Quake 3 Arena. The Nail Gun was a difficult weapon to use because of its difficulty to aim with it and its lower rate of fire but it could kill very quickly, however, the machine gun you spawn with had a fast rate of fire and you could damage people with it easier but it took a longer time to kill than the nail gun.

wait… you want it not to change? If you want something not new go play Halo 3.
