Fast travel spots. I’m blitzing through on easy now because my legendary run was over 8 hours and only bothered to capture one FOB so far because it was in the way. After getting this done and the bandanna skull, I’ll be a LASO play through away from having all the campaign 100% completed
On harder difficulty, it helps you to reveal spartan cores locations which is crucial (you want to get cloak dash soon)
I‘m on the exact same page here.
Btw: Merry Christmas to all of you! (the ones who care, that is).
Merry Christmas to you as well!
When you want to lay siege to a banished outpost with razorback full of marines wielding rocket launchers and sniper rifles, you bisit the FOB.
Although that is quite a spectacel, it is not really necessary.
But are you really experiencing Zeta Halo without it?
Since mostly all your collectables transfer between difficulties, I did almost a 100% collection run on Normal entirely with the Wasp. It saved a lot of time opening lockers, killing bosses from a distance and collecting data pads. After that, I did a LASO, and now I have no reason to touch Campaign again unless they add back all the cut content they scrapped to release it faster. There’s several cut vehicles, bosses, missions, and entire locations on The Run/House of Reckoning island that got scrapped. Maybe they’ll sell it to us as a DLC for $50 or something in 6 months… Otherwise, yes, I used FOBs for Variant Power weapons that can’t be refilled easily.
I don‘t know. You tell me.
I guess it depends on ones individual playstyle.
I’m Mustard Chef. I don’t need any help from anyone! Just me and my trusty old grapplinghook is all it takes.
OK, so i‘ve changed my mind about FOB’s after reading your comments on this thread. They are 100% useful when fighting HVT‘s that you can reach on foot or via vehicle. BUT it requires a certain amount of cheesieness to do so, because they die like crazy.
They also don‘t really seem to obey Chief‘s orders. Honking the horn means you have gtf into the Razorback and not hit the deck and do the worm all the time.
Also, if Chief hands you a rocket launcher with a lock-on, you‘ll not change that back for a shotgun!
You reads me???
Getting Sgt. Maj. Sixta vibes over here…
Tell me about it! When they cut the ending for Halo 2 I was pissed. Then they had the gall to repackage it and sell it as Halo 3. Disgusting.
WHY ARE YOU YELLING!?!?
Go get you LASO on.
Yeah they’re amazing. Why wouldn’t you?
It means you can pick a perfect loudout for yourself and your marines.
It means you can organise a fireteam of marines.
You can call in vehicles from Razorbacks to Scorpians and Wasps
They’re also fast travel points so clearing them is in your interest.
The campaign would have been a lot better with features that let you control the Marines and maybe have an actual team.
Also, changes to the AI so they would fire at enemies you know are there or some sort of marking system would have been nice.
Whenever I have a Warthog, the gunner doesn’t always continue shooting when we’re being shot at or there’s an enemy near us.
Bungie was upset about that too apparently.
That ended up turning out well though, unlike what happened to this game.
Shame we never got the Guardian campaign mission in Halo 3, because Microsoft kept rushing Bungie to cut content for an earlier release date. We lost like 3 whole campaign missions. At least in Halo Infinite, it will get updates and patches. Old Halo games are forever scrapped and unbalanced. 343 doesn’t have the guts to update them in MCC.
That’s unfortunate.
It would be nice to see those missions added to the MCC.
Hopefully Infinite will get its cut content added through updates.
Somewhat off-topic, but if that rushing problem and the microtransactions problem happen to Bethesda’s and Obsidian’s games as well, I’m going to abstain from buying any games published by Microsoft.
I use them a lot in game
I used them a lot for travel and wasps when I was doing my 100% run.
Really only bothered securing two or three just for fast travel points during my LASO run.
They really need to get their target priorization right. It‘s great that they take care of the grunts but maybe a focused effort on taking out the Brute with laser beam accuracy and a Skewer would be better.
I‘m with you on the controlling the marines part.
With the marking system already in the MP (is it in the SP also?) it would just make sense that you could tell the Marines where to go or maybe to even take a vehicle on their own.
Chief can‘t be the only one with a valid drivers license on Zeta Halo.
Yeah, I really wish they’d make it so the Brute AI isn’t so accurate.
They shouldn’t be able to have even close to 75% accuracy with the Skewer or other weapons.
I’ve been hit with the Ravager on top of a mountain outside of their view, and they’ve known I was there from the same distance despite not being obviously there.
It’s not just Brutes either.
Jackals, Elites and Grunts can sense I’m there from a distance, and they can aim almost perfectly at least half as far.
I think they should know you’re around somewhere if you shoot at them, but they shouldn’t know you’re there just because you’re in the area.
Another change I’d like to see is to have enemies run out of ammo unless they add a skull giving them infinite ammo, and it’s active.
The flashlight takes the place of the mark feature in the campaign.
They should make it so that a slightly long press marks places and enemies in the campaign.
Also, yeah, I think Marines should be able to drive, and the mark feature would help with that outside of battles.
In battles, they should let you choose to have them do different things based on various factors.
For example:
Shields are down - Drive to a safe area - Until shields are recharged.
Enemy has a power weapon - Drive at a safe distance - Until the enemy is gone.
Close enemies - Try to ram into them - If they’re weak.
I don’t see a reason that Marines can’t drive when enemies can.
However, the AI does need improvement, since it’s so easy to take enemy vehicles.
Some enemies even flip their vehicles, and I saw an Elite say something when he did it before flipping it over so he could get back in…
