Does anyone else get this feeling? Every Halo I’ve ever played I’ve been quite above average. Hell even Halo 4 as much as I hated it. Halo 5 MP just seems so casual that anyone can pick it up and be decent.
Halo 5 definately isn’t the worst Halo I’ve ever played, just seems to easy.
I still do well above average so far, however it feels pretty empty.
For one… the REQ system ‘yeah im going to be one of those guys’ I hate it…
Announcing weapons in team slayer? ‘10 seconds til sniper spawn’ really?
Part of halo was knowing what spawns where and when based on who had picked it up last.
All of these things cater to ‘noobs’ or unskilled / new players. Which I guess lessens the gap between people of skill, but at the same time, we all have played for quite some time to enjoy the halo we once knew. Each halo seems to kill me a bit more inside.
I could list a hundred things such as how players look like 2d animations with the depth degrading quality, but ill stop here.
I think the skill gap is still present. In FFa I won the first two came second in four and a third and fourth with a last place in two.
However it does seem quite easy to get a perfect if you stick to a rhythm. With what the poster said above. The call outs for weapons is definitely a sign of catering.
Just a thought but if there were more social playlists they could take the call outs from arena play.
>Do you also feel like you’re awful at this game?
>This game is far too easy/casual for me
What are you saying? From what I’ve seen there no aim assist and the skill gap is larger than H4. Do you feel like this game is so ridiculously easy that even though you’re terrible at it you still put up decent stats in matches?
I feel that in general the guns are more accurate but aim assist is lower. I like this because if I miss its because I missed not because the random bullet spread cheated me.
To be fair, I actually feel decent at this game. There are people that clearly out class myself, as I recently found out matching a team of champions in the arena. Otherwise, I’m normally in a close game, or slightly above average.
I have to say this is the first time since Halo 3 that I have found competition in a Halo game. Everything, even in laggier games feels crisp. Although I would love to try a game mode with out all the additions, for old times sake.
The countdown to a power weapon is like assuming every has their stop watchh while playing. I wouldn’t go as far a calling it a skill. Same with knowing where they spawn like 3 matches in a map and you know that.
If now that “everyone” knows that the sniper is coming up. You can’t seem to walk a way with it. You arnt as good as you thought you were. If you watch some of the old school halo tournament days, and I’m talking original final boss days. They have a guy not on the team yelling when what is gonna drop.
Now you gonna tell me that makes them noobish id have to laugh. The noobs will hear the countdown and legit SIT on the powerweapon and get picked off before they can fire a shot.
Our halo 1-3 skills might need to be reassessed sure but there is a skilk gap in halo 5. Whether is one you enjoy or approve doesn’t matter really.
Map control and map movement is stronger than it’s ever been if the right hands.
I’m in no way trying to say I’m a pro by saying this, although I still do relatively well, I feel like it’s weird that I’m able to win and do much better in every Halo except 5. It could also be that it’s harder to carry teammates, didn’t think about that one.
I have mixed feelings, also because I’ve raged during games and that’s definately bringing me back to the good ol days :’).

Agreed 100%. I love watching MLG matches but in no way is knowing when/where a power weapon spawns a skill. The real skill lies in how you’re able to acquire it,and since everyone is alerted of it’s spawn in H5, it’s even harder for a skilled player to do so, which actually adds to the difficulty, therefore adding to the skill gap.
I tried a few games of team slayer and it felt like it was the first time ive ever played an FPS; probably get better once i learn the maps layouts i suppose?
Awful? No. Learning, yes. Warzone is a TOTALLY different beast than anything we have ever played. Having 8 people rush out of a base all firing fuel rod cannons at 3 spawn camping ghosts is a way different experience than anything BTB had. So you die…quick. Because warzone isnt very easy to hide in. Please dont get me heated on Arena…they literally ignored all the feedback from the Halo Community Feedback Program with that one. As far as I can tell they still left in the Spartan Callouts…because nothing says competitive multiplayer like your teammate’s character yelling “SNIPER AT BLUE TWO!” for the whole match to hear.

> I don’t think people understand the difference between a few people knowing the spawn times, and the game telling EVERYBODY when and where it spawns.
First the “skill” was about you knowing that a sniper spawns in exactly 3 minutes and your opponent thinking “it’s been 5 mins…is it up yet?”.
Now the “skill” is about outsmarting every player that’s bum-rushing the power weapon and making your move for the power weapon at the ideal time, and subsequently finding cover from all the other players coming after you since they know you’re probably around sniper spawn.
Please tell me how that’s not an upgrade for people who want this game to be about skill.

Did you accidentally post something inside my quote I’m not seeing?
edit: Oh, or were you just quoting because you agree? Sorry, been up for a loooong time.
