Do you drop your AR or your Sidekick?

There are only a couple of playlists right now that aren’t AR starts, so I was wondering what people typically do when they come across a power weapon.

Actually, any weapon. Even when you come across a BR or Commando, what do you keep and what do you drop first?

For me, exclusively, I drop the AR for anything I’m picking up. I’ve gotten fairly competent with the sidekick, even at mid range, so I prefer the precision aspect of it to the AR, even though the AR headshot bonus is better than a lot of people realize at mid range itself. The fact the pistol fires faster after switching to it as a secondary also saves my life a good bit, and its perfect for combos.

Is it situational for you? Do you even pick up non power weapons? Do you refuse to use one or the other? I just like to ask folks these questions and get their input.

The choice is situational. When the enemy team is the type that is endlessly rushing you and providing close engagements it is better sometimes to retain the Sidekick. Most matches are not this type, however. I usually replace the Sidekick with something else.

I like to try and use many weapons, but ive come to love the pulse carbine. If i am on fragmentation or deadlock i always pick it up (high power has no pulse carbine for some reason). And i usually alternate between dropping the ar and the sidekick. Sometimes i want to keep sidekick, sometimes i keep ar. But the pulse carbine is my favorite weapon now. I think the br is annoying. It is a very powerful weapon, but if i pick it up it does nothing more than encourage me to camp. The only power weapons i will pick up would be energy sword, spanker, and sometimes skewer if its in a convenient spot and we are being attacked by vehicles.

When I started out I usually dropped the Sidekick because AR seems to shoot faster… But having played a bit, and got better at it, now I try to retain Sidekick as long as possible unless I get something really good in exchange. Sidekick is pretty much a precision weapon with a quite quick TTK. Also if used as secondary switching to it is the fastest of all weapons which can be a lifesaver. Now I drop AR as soon as I find pretty much any other weapon.

sidekick no one carries ammo for it so i can only assume everyone else is dropping it too and i don’t care what anyone says about it, it is the most worthless pistol halo has ever had

Most of the time I’m dropping both aha.

Depends.
If the map is more enclosed, I drop sidekick, if it is more open, I drop AR

What I trade my stuff out for totally depends on what I’m picking up. I use a couple general rules to decide what I trade.

Usually I trade my pistol out for precision weapons, and my AR out for other CQC or functional weapons.

I always try and keep one precision weapon and one CQC/ power weapon

As a controller player with almost no aim assist, I always drop the sidekick because:

  1. It’s difficult to spam the trigger while trying maintain aim
  2. I’ll miss most of my shots because of aim

Bro, clearly you’re a silly KB&M player cause sidekick absolutely slaps with that aim assist - you could use your little toe and ram that controller trigger and you’ll .9 seconds kill your target no aim required obviously because aim assist does all the work for you.

i’m a console peasant lol and for some reason halo inf’s aim assist doesnt work while using an elite V2

I’m kind of shocked by how many people are dropping the sidekick. Is there a particular reason? It’s objectively better than the AR in terms of kill potential
