There are currently nearly 200 armor sets, 300 emblems, lots of visors and a bunch of weapon skins with more on the way.
At what point do we say “Woah there 343, more armor is great but look there’s already over 200000 possible combinations we’ve got going here. Cant we get something else in these updates?”
Essentially my point is in the updates so far all we have got for the most part is more of the same thing that we already have lots of, and odds are at least 80% of people wont use these various armor pieces and emblems. When you look at the updates like this you realize that they are really insubstantial.
Free things are good but if youve got 200 Screwdrivers would you really want more when what you really need is a spanner?
It’s a little over kill. Nothing wrong with players expressing a little individuality, but jeez. I’d rather have 100 colors than 100 different armor sets.

I dunno about you, but I was happy that they made a version of Mark V that is (more or less) based directly off of the Halo 1 version. But that’s just me.
All we really need right now is gametypes, and that’s more in the purview of the programmers rather than those making assets.

I love that big selection of armours, emblems, helmets and colours!

Id have to sorta disagree with you there. In my opinion all the armors and emblems are really only put into the updates to pad it out and make it seem like we are getting more than we actually are. If we didnt have these armors in the updates 343 would HAVE to put something more substantial in otherwise people would feel… i dont want to say “Ripped off” as its free, but something along those lines
We really don’t need more variant skins, though. As to new emblem cards, I honestly can’t be much -Yoinked!- about preset player cards in the first place as they’re limiting to the point of being pointless to me.
There’s also the fact that we’ve got enough to keep us occupied for a while as far as customization goes. A couple new things here and there, sure, but the bigger focus really should be on maps, gametypes and bugfixing.
You know what I’d love more than new player cards and armor variants? New colors entirely. It’s hard to be excited about new armor when you can’t even be the color you want anyway because the game’s color system is broken.
They are two different teams working on this. Multiplayer team is not the same as the req design team. So idk. I would prolly be in your same shoes except all my excitement for the halo 2 battle rifle, mark v armor, and that amazing wolf pistol skin.
reach’s system was the best. Helmet, customise the helmet, left and right shoulder, chest, legs, wrist, visor, am I missing something?
what would be good is if we could customise each piece like the helmet. Edit shoulder pieces, forearms, chest and legs. Remember on reach had bout three knives which was stupid.
that’s what I’d prefer. Instead of 200 armours, bout 20 or 30 armours each piece with around 5 customisable options

I would prefer this than 5 different versions of the same Mark VI armor. Its only a paint job too, actually thought these were skins like an extra layer of customization (tertiary color scheme) nope proven wrong, what’s worse is that a lot of these armors are fugly.

Excelleny analogy with the Screwdrivers, I honestly think that 343 genuinely believed this content would be enough and that’s why gametypes are taking so long.
I think part of the armour problem is that it is meaningless with the REQ packs. I know what i want, so until i get it the armour or helmet i get is worthless, and so there is many helmets and armours i never even look at. I think of there is more meaning behind the armour I’d like it more. Like how achilles requires spartan companies and a lot of time and effort to get. If the armour took time to get, not just rng, it woukd be more meaningful.
My personal theory is that they had all of their artists design a ton of different sets and in any other game, most of these would have been filtered out in the quality control process. However, due to the microtransactions they intentionally kept all of the sub par through to terrible sets to intentionally make the players frustrated with the drawn out task of unlocking them all, thus increasing the chance of people paying for REQs.

More colors might put more stress on the engine and xbox itself. But I’m pretty sure the xbox can handle it. If we were to get more customization, the software needs to be optimized.

Since we can’t have full armor customization, because somehow it seems impossible for them due to latency issues and fps maybe dropping dramatically, they had opted to give us skins of armors. I think it would be awesome if we were given full armor customization along with the skins of armor, but I think the limit to more customization would be only shoulder armors, like Halo 3 was.
I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand the desire for customization of FPS characters since (as far as Halo goes) you only see it when you’re carrying a turret. It just seems silly to me, I guess.

Why would you get flamed? Its a valid argument and true. We never really see our character besides holding a turret. However what made that change is Team Arena now shows your spartan beginning and ending of match. Halo: Reach brought assassinations which now shows off your character doing styled kill moves. Your armor can show fear or bring admiration to their eyes!
