Do we really have to wait until Halo Wars 3?

Didn’t know wether to post this in HW2 or Halo Infinite forums, so I decided here as it really doesn’t matter since both games are relevant to the subject.

I hope we don’t have to wait until the next Halo Wars to see what happens next on the Ark. Maybe they can finish the story off as a minor part and carefully squeeze it into Halo Infinite’s campaign. I mean we’ve waited 7+ years since the first HW to see what happens next in the SoF’s story and let me just say I was amazed and relieved when we got that in HW2. Please 343i if that story doesn’t continue in Halo Infinite please don’t make us wait quite some time again. Well, here’s to hope that red team and SoF will somehow appear in Halo Infinite.

I think that since the H5g and HW2 storylines tie together we will see the continuation to both branches. Though just from a Chiefs perspective.

So basically I dont think we have to wait until HW3 to see the storyline continuation but rather at most, different perspective.

Pretty sure they’ll crossover. Cortana found Anders, she’s most likely going to be curious about the Ark, investigate and find out that the Flood are still on the Ark, will probably try to control the Brutes if she can but I’m sure she’ll be more focused on the Flood threat.

You guys also have to consider how purely HW2 sold sadly.

It’s a great RTS and brought me back to the franchise, so I would love to see it tie in the main story! Not to mention the Banished. Atriox, Shipmaster, the Brute brothers and so on are the most charismatic villains we got since H3! However the general public wouldn’t know them and 343i is not a stranger when it comes to dropping story-lines. Spartan-Ops, Gabriel, Jul… Just to mention a few. HW2 risks to be the next one on the chopping board!

Maybe they can bring the Spartan Ops mode back and we can play as Red Team and see how it all ends from there? I wouldnt mind that one bit. Unless they force us to play on the same maps over and over again. It was pretty annoying how many times we had to revisit the same maps in H4 Spartan Ops.

Really hope both games connect in Infinite because i really want to red team/cutter to meet the chief and also really want the banished to tie in somehow.

I think we could get Halo Wars 3 which finishes the fight between Spirit of Fire and the Banished. It could take place on Reach since Anders is on a Halo ring near Reach.

I have a strong feeling that we will not see a Halo Wars 3 for many years to come if not never. Your best best for a continuation is a crossover in a game or finished in the expanded universe.

That would be an epic scene in Halo Infinite.

That doesn’t jive with 343’s plans for future Halo stories. They are doing simpler stories that are more focused on the Chief. Tossing in the cast from Halo Wars 2 would conflict with that, sadly.

Hopefully a crossover is done. I don’t really read the books even though I should but if they finish it off in a novel I would be disappointed.

That’s probably what you should brace yourself for. Halo Wars 2 was made so it could happen in an environment where Halo 5’s story wouldn’t affect it outside of Anders’ Halo being secured by a Guardian at the very end. I suppose Cortana could activate the portal on Earth to the Ark, but then you are throwing in a whole cast of characters in a story meant to focus squarely on the Chief as per 343’s own words.

I can agree with that. They do need to focus on Chief. But I believe if they throw in some minor parts carefully, they can still focus on just Chief. As I said before, maybe the return of Spartan Ops can help with that where we would play as Red Team? Halo 4 did well with that little side story IMO.

I don’t think we should bank any hopes on Spartan Ops making a return. There is a reason we never saw a Season 2 (it was chucked into and summarily botched in Halo: Escalation [comic series]) and 343 hasn’t really hinted at pursuing any campaign-based DLC. I’d like to see it return with a fresh take that accurately takes people’s feedback to heart, but I’m not expecting it.
