We are right around a Month from Launch, and the game is finally starting to get some serious marketing. So my question is, do we know if the game has gone gold and the content for launch finalized and sent to manufactures to start loading on the physical copies of the game? I imagine it will be the next week or two if not already done.
We do not know yet. If they have not yet, I would assume they will in the next week or so
Content for launch has been finalized for a while. As to whether the game has gone gold and released to manufacturing, I haven’t heard anything.
honestly the way they’ve spoken about these final months of development, the campaign is crashing in super hot. they’re probably going to squeeze out every second of time they have before printing and have a huge day 1 patch waiting to finish the job.
It’s 14.2MB on the Microsoft store right now. Don’t think it has hit RTM yet.
Games usually go gold about 2-3 weeks prior to launch.
I wouldn’t expect Infinite to go gold for a little while yet.
I don’t think such a thing really exists anymore now that everything is digital download. 343 could run the clock all the way out if they wanted to.
Probably close to going gold since the website has just had a major update plus we’re getting pretty close to release date. I wouldn’t be surprised if the pre-download happens next week or the week after.
No official word as of yet, but seeing marketing and IGN coverage starting to pick up, I’d assume it would happen in a week or two.
Years ago this would be the about the time we see an announcement about going gold. However I would figure these days with more shipping options and less physical copies needed at release (remember pre-order actually meant saving a physical copy for yourself because they wasn’t enough supply for demand) plus maybe there is more than place other than the place in Texas that every game company seemed to use back then.
With all that and in short I’d guess they have another good two weeks to squeeze in everything they can on disc. Of course we’ll have a day one update. Wouldn’t be a release these days without waiting to download after preloading lol.
I think as the years have gone by games need less and less lead time before going gold. Take for example Call of Duty which used to announce they had gone gold about a month and a half before release. For Vanguard I don’t think they even tweeted out that they had gone gold and just released the game. My best guess is that Infinite will go gold around 2 weeks before release and even then 343 might not make too big a deal of it.
Personally haven’t seen anything yet. I was just wondering the same today. I’m sure it would be everywhere if it was tho
I don’t believe it has. They’ll make a big announcement when it does which I bet will be on the 15th.
Yeah, look at No Man Sky. Technically it went gold and released in 2016, but it never really became the game it intended to be for another couple years.
Since Infinite is taking a GaaS approach, it could be an entirely different game in a couple years time. The entire idea of going gold feels like a pretty dated concept, although I’m sure it’s great for the morale of the devs.
Going gold isn’t the same benchmark it used to be. Since Day 1 patches became more normalised and expected, games most often aren’t finished when they go gold. I fully expect development on Halo Infinite to continue up to launch, and for a few quick patches improving performance on PC to hit within the first couple of weeks.
I mean, unless you specifically work at the studio, at a publisher, or other part of the industry. It doesn’t really matter to the consumer besides something journo’s write up on a slow week.
You’ll know once they’ve gone Gold. Trust me. They’ll most likely have an article on the front page about the announcement.
Getting closer!!!
Unsure, but usually games go ‘Gold’ around 2 weeks before launch.
