Do we all want BR starts for BTB?

I sure do, I really hate AR starts for BTB. Bring BR starts back

Could do the MCC thing and have Precision start settings for modes

I think the Battle Rifle is too good to be a starting weapon. You won’t need to pick up or use another gun. Plus precision weapons tend to encourage players to keep their distance which means less hectic melee battles and more people firing pot shots at eachother.

I would like to see what the legacy games used to do, and just have a variety of gametype’s that could happen.

Like there’s the “Total Control” mode we have now, and there could also be a “Total Control Hardcore” mode that could be added. The difference would be one being the current AR/pistol start and the other being BR/ no secondary starts. This would be completely in line with previous Halo titles setup.

And the name “hardcore” is just one of the old legacy naming conventions I chose from old games. There stre a few options that have previously been used

Im ok with the assault rifle in BTB. I just want the same weapon spawns for each side of the map.

The maps would have to be drastically larger to offset the BRs range.

If you take a look at Halo 3’s iteration of BTB, the maps are super large. Large enough to basically negate the BRs effectiveness somewhat.

The reason I think the change was made was to pretty much prevent everyone from running around guns blazing…

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t mind an increase in spawns for BR’s but, with the weapon mechanics of the BR in Infinite, it’d be a nightmare on BTB if it was the spawn weapon. It’s very accurate even at long range, very easy to use, and one of the deadliest weapons in the game right now.

I much prefer AR Starts over BR Starts in BTB. AR starts actually get people moving and going to the objectives and I’ve had some intense gun battles thanks to that, with BR and other ranged weapon pickups being the upgrades that they should be when a player acquires them and become a devastating force when they pick their right spots and distances to provide long range support.

Although it may sound nice to have BR Starts for some, personally I dread on what playing on such a big open map on Highpower would turn out. There’s a reason why Behemoth was taken out of Ranked CTF and that was because of how big and open it was and how they made the game miserable with BRs.

I’d immensely rather keep AR starts as the default. Would it be nice to have BR Start option for those who want them though? Sure. But for default starts I prefer the AR.

If I started with the BR and Sidekick, I’d honestly probably never pick up any other weapon besides power weapons, and I’d be more likely to defend the base at a distance, making it a pain for anyone to ever capture anything

Knowing this means everyone else might do the same, really kind of ruins BTB, since it basically just becomes bigger Ranked arena, with the lack of weapons and vehicles.

A whole team shooting BR at a Wasp or whatever would just make every vehicle a hassle to drive, since everyone could precision shoot the weak spots and take you out immediately.

343 would need to rebalance the other weapons to make you want to grab them, and they definitely would need to buff vehicles, because the Banshee and Rockethog are pathetic in Infinite

I think BTB would be really dull with BR starts. Movement would be heavily restricted. BTB maps have too much open space for everyone to spawn with a BR, I think it would just end up as a camp off.

Could be worth seeing how it plays in a temporary event for a few days, I just suspect it would really dull down that mode particularly. It has less impact on movement around the map in 4v4 as open spaces are more limited.

Terrible idea for this Halo tbh. All engagements would end up being long-distance to medium distance standoffs.

I want the choice for either like we have in MCC. I prefer AR starts as it seems to encourage more players to actually move around the map and play vs sit back and camp with a BR.

I hate AR for BTB, but I hate the BR more. (I love the gun, but BR starts kill the game for me) It just becomes a sniper match except with more health. I get bored quick with BR starts.
BUT I feel like the commando would fill that slot perfectly if they fixed the balancing.

or better yet, given how no one uses the commando or sidekick… just start the player off with both the ar and br. best of both worlds…
or bring back precision slayer from mcc-… wait, but then the babies would get it confused with swa- tactical slayer -v-

As it is right now, most player in BTB are fighting over the few marksman rifle spawns, and usually the player who picks up the BR and is good with it just dabs on everyone who didn’t get to pick one up. That’s one of the main reasons why people want a Precision mode so everyone can start up on the BR.

While BR is indeed strong enough that people won’t wanna trade it off, you could always design maps that limit how effective BR is at range, because in closer quarters, the AR totally shreds a BR user through pure fire rate, and as such, the AR pickups may be more contested. That or AR-BR starts.

I’d be fine if they at least gave us the commando for a starting weapon, and then replace all the commando’s on the map with Battle rifles.

BR starts needs to be a thing for BTB, AR starts is terrible you’ll always get outgunned by someone using a battle rifle when u have an assault rifle and sidekick at mid range.

At least on the map fragmentation there’s so many Battle Rifle racks so whenever you die you can always have one.

On the map Highpower the racks are terrible there are literally only one or two weapon racks with BRs on either side.

On the map Deadlock the weapon racks ARE GOD AWFUL to encourage finding weapons. Literally one side spawns with bulldog, stalker rifle and BRs and the other side gets heatwave, shock rifle and commandos. It literally happens everytime that the side that spawns with commandos will swap spawns so they get to spawn on the side with battle rifles.

It’s literally not a coincidence that people on deadlock swap spawns to the side with a br and especially the people who use a br just slay others because there’s literally only 2 people with a battle rifle out of 24 people running around with assault rifles and side kicks making it a very unbalanced game when it supposed to have “equal starts”.

And you get the usual “Ar StArTs EnCoUrAgEs To PiCk Up WeApOnS fRoM rAcKs”.

Well almost no one picks up ravager because its god awful the only thing people use is the overcharge when they do pick it up, pulse carbine is also terrible, commandos are always on the racks when a battle rifle is availabe.

I literally see those 3 guns still on their racks.

And guess what Halo 2 and Halo 3 has br starts and those games work SOOOOO WELL and people still pick up weapons in those games. People still pick up plasma pistol, sword, rockets, hammer, bruteshot, shotgun, plasma rifle, and sniper.

Same with Reach even though it was DMR starts people still pick up the plasma pistol, plasma rifle, rockets, sword, hammer, shotgun, sniper, concussion rifle, needler and the needle rifle which was the covenant version of the dmr. PEOPLE STILL PICKED UP A COVENANT DMR WHEN THEY ALREADY SPAWN WITH ONE.

So don’t give me that garbage excuse that AR start is great to encourage weapon pickups when the previous games that were mainly BR starts and DMR starts people still picked up power weapons.

Yeah I really don’t understand why they changed the name of SWAT to Tactical Slayer. Such an unnecessary minor change.

Not to encourage pick ups, but to control the amount of BRs on the map at a given time.
