I bought Halo 5 on release day in 2015. Since then I’ve had to download the many multi-gigabyte updates just to play the game online.
I am thinking of getting an Xbox One S 1TB system, but don’t want to/don’t have the ISP data cap to be able to download all the updates all at once.
If I buy a more recently printed new copy of Halo 5, will it contain the DLC on disc?

No. All physical editions of Halo 5 are the same; they contain only the base game that released in 2015. The only way to get the updates is via downloading them as DLC. You can’t get around using the internet to download the updates, unless you save all your Halo data on an external HDD and use that HDD on your new Xbox One S. That might be a solution that lets you circumvent actually updating. Emphasis on “might be”.
