Do The Controls in Halo 5 Feel Sluggish/Clunky?

So I just started playing Halo 5 about an hour or two ago and I could not get over the fact that the controls feel EXTREMELY sluggish and clunky. Now this may be because I am a PC gamer and are used to the responsiveness of the mouse and being to whip around when someone is shooting behind you. The first thing I did when launching the game was go through the options and look over basic controls and settings. Based on previous halo games i set my sensitivity to 8 out of 10. After this I hoped into a match and immediately noticed how slow turning was and kicked my sensitivity up to 10 out of 10, there was little improvement here. I also have noticed that when transitioning between direction the movement isn’t as fluid as other halo games. I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this or is this just my PC gamer side not being satisfied.

I agree - my keyboard and mouse don’t seem to be working on my Xbox One…

I get ya op . I was wondering if if it was just me but I see I’m not the only one… Hmmmmm

I agree on the feeling sluggish part compared to say Destiny.

Perhaps I will figure out some setting to see if I can improve it once I get a better feel for the game.

you can actually get the Keyboard and Mouse to work on the Xbox One. It’s called the Cronus Max Plus. I have yet to set mine up yet but a friend of mine uses it and swears by it. My post however is focused and the look sensitivity being sluggish and clunky

Destiny nailed the weapon gameplay for sure, takes a little time to adjust to something different.
Halo has so much more to offer for my taste in gaming, I’ll take the practice curve happily

my issue with the game is that the game went from having barely any target friction in the beta to a level of friction so huge, now, that when i’m attempting to out-strafe and break an opponents pattern, it’s nearly impossible to swing my crosshair back onto my enemy. (like there’s this foot-long invisible barrier between my crosshair and the enemy that just will not budge, for whatever reason.) this becomes more pronounced in closer-range battles… this was never an issue in previous halo titles, forme. Just figured that I would mention it.

I was just telling a buddy of mine this last night when we were playing the campaign on Legendary. I don’t know if there’s some sort of mechanic that makes you move slower when you’re being hit, but the movement of the character seemed a bit sluggish. Even sprinting and boosting seemed a bit under par.

Even the animations for the special moves are pretty long. I’ve not once used the ground pound in Legendary because you just sit there in mid-air for like 2-3 seconds charging the punch–DOA. And the Spartan Charge may knock back an enemy, but then you put yourself in a position where you can’t move around fast enough to evade anything–DOA. And sprinting and boosting feel so lackluster that I don’t use them that often.

It does feel a tad sluggish, compared to what I am used to.

Yeah doesn’t feel quite as nice/responsive as beta. I couldn’t put my finger on it (ha!) but it must be this friction.

They nerfed movement and sprint speed because an over whelming amount of beta players including myself said it was too fast. I dont find it sluggish or clunky. Once I got the controls down and put my sensitivity up it played like a dream

I can’t seem to find the right control balance. I like having my ADS on left trigger, since unlike previous Halo Games in which I preferred the right stick for scoping, I use ADS as something that I switch out in and out of rapidly, without having to mess up my aim by pressing the stick (inconsistently, at least). But then I also really like having crouch as B, because for some reason I have an issue when anything other than sprint is binded to my analog sticks. Here’s the thing: I’m fine with the default controls, simce they are mostly what I’m used to, but having an additional button for the thruster pack forces me to use the B button for it and the classic right stick for crouch. I can get used to it, it’s just I have muscle memory that B is crouch when sprinting to slide, but now I keep thrusting forward instead of sliding.

Weird I didn’t have any problems. I find it far to slow now. Although I’m a die-hard twitch-arena fan from the Quake days so YMMV.

I dont have any problems. Have you tried changing up your control scheme see if you get better responses.

I had so much trouble with the Beta. It felt like I was playing under water and it wasn’t crisp and responsive.

This game, it feels a lot better now. I was worried that they wouldn’t get it right, but I think they did a good job for this one. We just need to get used to it and we can’t expect every other game out there to play and feel the same.

same here

Cuts me deep, feel so at home and natural with mouse and keyboard. Me using a controller is like watching a magikarp use a controller.

Idk It seems pretty fluid on my end…

Yes… something has significantly changed since the beta! 343i needs to fix this ASAP, considering the aiming is the most important thing in a FPS.

After playing Destiny for 2 years I think so. The controls and movement speed are no where near the same. If I am going to give credit to destiny for something it will be smooth movement speed and controls.
