Do Spartans have Rank?

I bought a Halo 5 Limited Edition. In dossier, Blue Team, John, Fredrick, Kelly, and Linda have their ranks. Osiris, Locke, Buck, Vale, and Tanaka have no rank, it just said Spartan for their rank. I know Locke and Buck had rank before they became the Spartans. Now, they don’t have a rank. Do Spartan IVs have rank?

Spartan-IVs are now part of their own branch in the UNSC, I’m sure they have ranks, they just aren’t as significant as regular branches. Palmer is a Commander, so there’s that. And isn’t Thorne a Lieutenant?

There’s Spartans, Squad Leaders, and officers. You can reach Officer when you hit level 40 and squad leader is assumed for obvious reasons.

thats weird how Spartans dont have ranks anymore, never noticed that

But why the 343i is not showing Locke, Buck, Vale, Tanaka’s ranks?

All Spartans in the Spartan branch are considered equal and lack formal ranks. Sarah Palmer is the Commander, which is a title more than a rank, to show that she has operational management of the Spartans.

I think they’re working for ONI, so their ranks may be withheld.

Locke, Vale, Tanaka, and Buck are all part of Spartan branch, despite their former affiliations. Some like to suggest that Spartan branch is still a Naval asset, but the truth is they are their own organization within the UNSC.

Spartan is their rank. At this point in time, the Spartans are their own branch of the Military.

From Halo: New Blood

> Chapter One
>
> He also likes to say that , as Spartans, we no longer have formal ranks like they do in the rest of the military, which we’re supposed to take as meaning we’re all equals within the Spartan branch of the UNSC. Course, some of us are far more equal than others, and he’s the main point of evidence for that. So I don’t take his words as gospel.
>
> Don’t think I’m knocking inequalities, as long as they’re justified. I used to like being a gunnery sergeant in charge of my own squad.
>
> Chapter Sixteen
>
> When I couldn’t find her, I generally kept close to the bases and hung out with the Spartan leadership. There aren’t any ranks in the Spartans , as Commander Musa likes to remind me about once a week. Still, some of us are more equal than others. I might not have been a gunnery sergeant anymore, for instance, but I’d been leading Mickey and Romeo too long for them to not jump to action when I started barking orders.

But John and Blue team, along with most S-IIs are not technically part of the Spartan Branch itself and is still part of NAVCOM. Along with any other S-IIIs that where not transfered to the Spartan Branch, like Saber Team who were attached to Blue team after Onyx.

Master Chief is literally a rank…

SIIs and SIIIs do, SIVs don’t. SIVs are part of the Spartan Branch of the UNSCN so they’re all equal rank as others have stated above.

Master Chief Petty Officer, the rank that John-117 retains, is a rank he earned through service as a SPARTAN-II. SPARTAN-IIs are NOT part of Spartan branch. They operate within the UNSC Navy.

Is that including Spartan IIs and IIIs?

They are not like the formal military. They treat each other with the same respect. With that being said each team does have a leader and there is a leader above all of the spartans but they usually do not go with ranks.

No. Only those that are within Spartan branch. There are no SPARTAN-IIs in Spartan branch (Musa-096 is the director of the Spartan-IV program, not apart of the branch), and there are only a few Spartan-IIIs, such as Jun-A266, Lucy-B091, and Tom-B292. Those are the only known ones at this point. The rest are SPARTAN-IVs.

Only S-IIs and S-IIIs who haven’t Transfered to the Spartan Branch. For Example, all the S-III Headhunters and Several of the Remaining Teams like Noble Team transferred to the Spartan Branch.

But Teams like Blue Team, Black, Gray, Red and the S-IIIs are still under NAVCOM
