Ahahaha but you literally said it wasn’t nostalgia…, and then turned around and described just that!
It isn’t as strong as the other weapons tho…
You guys have just been trained over the years to dislike or not respect this weapon.
It’s is the same argument against the lancer in gears for so long.
The weapon is balanced and had is place. The AR is not the side weapon… The pistol is!
Idk I’m slaying like crazy with the AR Sidekick combo… Like it’s amazingly smooth. I also have the Halo infinite elites series two and just use back paddle to switch weapons mid fight and begin to hit. And I don’t run Aim assist.
My issue is the inconsistency and randomness. It is probably yet another desync problem, but some games it feels useless and others it feels like a SAW, when I’m using it or they are.
FFA is especially frustrating. There’s no reason I should lose going 23 and 8 when someone went 25 and 18 trading kills rushing straight ahead with the AR all game because they had less desync. Its nothing new, and it’s really just a sign of what’s wrong with ffa, but jeez is it annoying.
Weapon sandbox parity between PvE and PvP is important if you want people to easily go between the two. Campaign can act as a sort of tutorial/training mode for PvP this way.
But then, the weapon sandbox is already different between the two in Infinite. The Sentinel Beam stands out because, while it’s good in campaign, it’s basically unusable garbage in PvP. It could be a glitch. But I have a hunch it isn’t. I still think weapons should be the same across all game modes, for the sake of consistency.
If I was in charge, I would rectify this by first changing the multiplayer weapon sandbox to suit the maps we have, and then using that weapon sandbox across new campaign/firefight/whatever expansions that would be designed around that weapon balance. The base game Halo Infinite Campaign would retain its current weapon balance and would be the only game mode with that weapon balance. Simply nerfing effective weapon ranges in the existing campaign would make all but a few mid/long range weapons useless.
Another option would be to balance weapons for multiplayer maps, add that weapon balance to the campaign as well, but rework the campaign AI (and even levels by adding a bit of cover here and there) so that you can get closer to them to still be effective with the newly balanced, shorter range weapons. This would be the much better, but far more labor intensive option.
See, the difficulty isn’t so much in balancing weapons for the multiplayer maps, it’s in balancing them for multiplayer arena maps and wide open maps that are more realistic. The open world aspect of Halo Infinite really has had a negative impact on the overall feel of the game across all game modes. Halo is an area game, and all of the best parts of the Infinite as a package are designed around that strength. The open world was tossed in as a marketing afterthought because Microsoft was trying to get in on the mid-2010’s open world craze. The entire development of the game suffered because everyone in charge of Infinite was reaching for things that weren’t actually Halo.
Maybe the real change to the assault rifle is it should go back to having a 60 round capacity. I would totally be down for that. Clearly, I don’t see much of an issue with Infinite’s assault rifle; I quite like it where it is. I am kind of curious which side is complaining more about the AR in this game, whether it be the mouse and keyboard group or the controller group. Not that I think it’s one over the other, I’m just curious about stuff like that.
Disagree. Sidekick beats the AR in everything but face range and you spawn with it. The AR is consistently swapped out for the BR, Mauler, Stalker Rifle and Shock Rifle for example. None of these are classed as power weapons, so the AR fits into its roll perfectly if it’s effective as a spawn weapon, but still thrown aside for the previously mentioned guns.
The weapons that are worse than the AR and that you’d never pick up are just bad weapons full stop. Ravager, Pulse Carbine, Commando, Disruptor etc. These things need buffs bad, and the moment they get them, the AR will be put down for them too.
There’s a plasma carbine variant in the campaign that increases fire rate and cools it down extremely quick after overheating. If they just tweaked that model to maybe keep the fire rate and uncrease the cooling time, it might be actually useful. No need to change the tracking just make it so that you can get quick shots off. Or even if they just increased the heat cap so you could fire longer. Or they could just abandon the “pulse” aspect of entirely and return to a regular automatic plasma lol
You think firing fully auto around the head takes skill? It’s a spray and pray gun and already takes no skill to use. Why are we rewarding little Tommy for holding down the trigger?
Same reason we give a trophy to spazes who tap tap tap on the trigger and get a lucky headshot. Out of 10, if the AR is a 2 for “skill” the BR is a 2.1.
Now this is the true weapon of a skilled player. Any Bronze noob can get a kill with a BR.
But the PC… The PC takes skill to use. #PlasmaCarbineStarts
No way! The AR is perfect where it’s at. We should NOT punish players for running and gunning, that’s at the core of Halo. This isn’t Valorant.
Believe it or not, having to move AND shoot at the SAME TIME requires more skill than moving, stopping, then shooting.
LOL wow. This is why the feedback 343 got needs to be filtered. Thinking the AR and BR are at the same skill level to use shows you know little to nothing about halo. You pretty much spoke for the entire free-to-play noob halo players out there with that opinion.
or he just isn’t spazing out about a difference in gameplay style and caught up about how a game HAS TO BE PLAYED that has been out 20 years!
let go man.
This is the real reason this franchise is in the shape it’s in.
It’s the community that simply won’t accept any changes…in a game…called…
HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED.
COMBAT EVOLVED
COMBAT EVOLVED
COMBAT EVOLVED
get it?
but you guys refuse to accept even type of change.
The funny thing is we’re both ranked Diamond. So if I’m a noob that knows nothing about Halo than you’re in that same boat with me. BR doesn’t dominate every weapon in the sandbox anymore. Get over it.
