This exactly.
AR should be stronger at close range while the Pistol is better at picking people at longer ranges.
To hell with realism and real life guns, this is Halo.

Disagree every time I go head to head with my at vs someone’s sidekick they melt me down with the sidekick idk why a pistol can beat an ar
Also tbh idk if anything can afford a nerf sense all the weapons are already nerf guns
IMO just play the BR start modes. Ranked is far and away the best game mode in this game.
AR/sidekick game modes are all bad.
actually the AR isn’t the issue - its the nade spam. We shouldn’t start with grenades, or at least not 2. This would solve a lot of problems currently seen, where the strat is “nade spam an area, then charge in with AR and melee”
its not just about the weapons that beat the AR. It’s the damage its doing at selective ranges. Even though you beat AR with pistol, BR or whatever, you’re left super weak after the battle despite the range it was shooting you from. Or, if you’re already weak, some noob sprays you down with AR across the map and kills you. There shouldn’t be headshot multiplier on an easy to use starting weapon.
This are how the forms looked when Destiny 1 came out…
Years later, Destiny 2, nerfed into the ground and they charge for seasons…
I already know you’re a KBM player just by -Yoink!- about AR. You’re only mad because we actually have to aim and it isn’t nearly as good for KBM. I get it but I don’t think a nerf is in order.
I think the AR is fine… And LOL at aim assist, there seems to be no aim assist if you ask me. Sounds like you just don’t like how you are being out played versus figuring out how to out play your competition.
You’ll never convince a lot of new/bad players the AR is overtuned, because it drastically raises the skill floor so they like it. Hopefully they add a br starts playlist that’s not just ranked, but 343 seems determined to kill this game before it has a chance to even come out fully
“It’s so vastly different”, you say, because you’re used to it being a useless gun. People complained about the AR in Halo 4, as well, because it wasn’t an awful gun you dropped as soon as possible. It’s actually a gun you can kill with, and now that it can, you hate it. The BR doesn’t rule the game anymore and people hate that for some reason.
I do agree the AR is overly effective, and especially that the radar is way too small.
Personally, I don’t think the AR is really any less skillful to use than any of the other weapons; if you can aim, you can aim. If you can’t, you can’t. Save for a few gimmick guns, I don’t really find any of the guns are “easier” or “less skillful” to use, and I also do think there’s merit to say the AR should have some uses.
The problem right now is that the other guns don’t provide real benefits when you pick them up, so people don’t pick them up. I think the biggest factor in this is the overly linear map design, but the AR also is too effective at range; it should have much more spread, I think.
It’s finally useful, I disagree with nerfing it.
I think the ar is fine. It can easily be beat at range and if they are closing the distance, switch weapons.
It’s like complaining that the shotgun beat the pistol at point blank. Learn the effective range of the weapons and how to counter.
So it does what every weapon does to a player with no shields.
So the thing that adds skill to the AR by rewarding precision shots should be taken out so “skilled” players don’t feel cheated?
Like Swat?
Buff all precision weapons, leave the AR exactly as it is. IM SICK OF AUTOMATIC SLAYER BEING UNPLAYABLE UNLESS YOU HAVE A BR!!!
Is this real? I honestly thought the carbine was the most unusable gun in the multiplayer
Unfortunately, this game is not made for those of us who play for skilled competitive multiplayer. It is meant to have every brainless player get kills so they will buy a battle pass and cosmetics. They won’t make the game more challenging. This is about microtransactions…
Remember when we could fully design and emblem and pick the color of our spartan when Halo 2 launched? No we get nothing unless we pay.
A precision weapon buff is pretty much the same net outcome as an AR nerf.
I mean it’s pretty good, but it falls short in long ranges which gets out classed by the BR or the commando… so I really don’t see the issue here
