Summary
I’m so bored of brainless idiots shredding me without any effort at all.
They just sprint around the map, jumping around getting free kils because the radar is so small and the AR is so ridiculously OP. I want to die because the enemy outplayed me or was more accurate…not because they’re running around like an idiot and holding down fire with aim assist doing all the work.
The AR is iconic in the campaign, I get it and I love it for what it is but having MP ruled by this weapon just isn’t Halo MP. Have 343 not played past titles?
Stop catering to drooling morons that can’t aim. The AR should be a last resort when you’re out of ammo for everything else, not the main weapon for Christ’s sake. it should be the least used weapon, people should have barely any kills with it, unless they’re literally so bad they can’t use any other weapon. instead it’s the main weapon of destruction in Slayer.
It removes the need for skill completely and utterly. You just run towards the enemy and get free kills. It’s beyond pathetic.
If the weapon requires the least skill, it should be the least effective…this is such a basic tenet of FPS games. instead we have this ridiculous crutch that is simply ruining Team Slayer. There’s no tactics, no thought, just mindless AR spam everywhere…it’s a horrible experience.
Why 343? Why are you so scared of making a Halo game, actualy be a Halo game? Why do we have to have this simplyfied, kiddies shooter where everybody gets a medal just in case it’s too diffiuclt for people?
For the love of GOD, fix the damn AR before it finishes ruining the game!!!

100% agree. Nerf the AR please!!!

At most the AR needs is a range nerf. Otherwise I think it’s pretty well implemented into the game.
The radar does need a serious buff though. 18m feels like 18ft.

A HUGE one!
…and sustained, running fire should have a much higher accuracy penalty.
Games should reward accuracy and skill. Instead, Infinite actually rewards you for being so bad that you have to use the AR. Can’t shoot? Don’t worry, we’ll make you more effective than skilful players.
It’s backwards…

Disagree. It needs range and damage to be nerfed, plus bullet spread to be widened for long bursts so players are punished for not feathering the trigger. The reason being is that the BR should not be outgunned by an AR at any range (particularly mid to long), and the AR/pistol combo should have a faster TTK than just AR. You should be rewarded for hitting headshots not punished by being drilled mindlessly by a long trigger press of the AR.

The ar is finally a good gun. Don’t nerf it

It’s not meant to be this good. It can still be good but it should not be out gunning weapons that actually take a bit of skill to use.
Example: playing customs with friends last night…I get absolutely shredded by my n00b friend at mid range drilling me down with the AR whilst I’m hitting him with BR shots. I crack his shields with 3 bursts, but I’m dead before my 4th shot…this should not be the case and he was amazed by how fast he shredded me from full shields. Basically a low skilled player can out gun a higher skilled player by using this n00b rifle…it is blatantly OP in its current state.

You’ve inadvertently proved my point
‘Finally a good gun’
…because it’s so vastly different to how it has been in every title thus far.
We just want it to be the same. Instead of being bike stabilisers or those things down the side of a bowling alley.
It’s solely there for kids who don’t have the coordination to aim and it’s ruining the feel of Halo.

Doesn’t need to be nerfed as it is fine. people just whinge about getting killed with it. If they nerf it then they will have to change the weapon layouts.

Care to explain a bit and in relation to the points I’ve made?
Why do you think it’s fine? Don’t you think skill should be more of a factor?
the AR needs a NERF?? we’re definitely not playing the same game here since on mine it takes almost a full mag to kill someone with it

The whole point of multiplayer is to shot the enemy. If your good with a certain weapon then great, over people we use over weapons to get kills. If your new to halo you are going to want a good weapon to use to enjoy the game. Me personally wont use it as I prefer the BR but if its not available I will use the AR. TBH the AR is crap as it basically takes nearly the whole mag even then your not guaranteed a kill with it. If you got shredded with it then its probably lag.

AR is fine. If you’re not a potato you can shred them with a sidekick from close range and BR and long/mid range.
They should fix the radar so you can read the map better and plan your movements around others. I find that to be the big issue since you right now can be ambushed very easily.
As for the aim assist. I think some people are playing a different game than me because I have yet to have the game aim for me. Aiming in this game is so hard that when I jump into MCC for the weekly challenges I end up hitting more shots than I do in this game. I’m still me, so that means MCC has a more noticeable aim assist.

But that’s the point I’m trying to make.
When I go back to mcc the ar is a joke yet it’s meant to be the main unsc gun.
When it finally competes with other starting weapons people want to nerf it back to useless again
Unless you mean you want it to be the same as the BR in which case I agree (wasn’t sure if you meant ‘be the same’ as in previous games aka useless)

You have access to the AR as well. So are you sure it’s the AR and not you?

Idk, there are definitely times when I feel the AR to be a bit much, but others where I can ask myself “how is this dude still vibing after a clip of ammo”.
The balance is there, I DO agree with the BR vs AR close range battle issue tho. If you’re popping with a BR it should win TTK against JUST an AR. AR/Pistol is one thing but just a trigger held AR should always lose to BR.
Radar is dreadful, and its coupled by the terrible audio issues where people can literally walk up behind you without a sound! No active camo, just regular running and silence. I run into that issue a lot and Radar would certainly help combat it.
Radar issue > AR in my opinion

But the sidekick out guns the AR… if you cant use the sidekick use the AR? I’m confused tbh. Only thing I hate is how some people fire the sidekick faster than me due to an input. At least I can use the AR the same as everyone else.
I’ll still swap the AR asap and keep the sidekick

no no no
this is terrible thinking. We should not have weapons like that if anything that would be what the pistol is for…
ahahahaha
im sorry but we have nostalgia just messing up our thoughts these days.
It is an assault rifle…it should not be the “last resort when out of ammo for everything else.”
that is simply ridiculous.
I get it.
If you want precision starts then fine but this same thing killed the gameplay of gears. People wanted the lancer to be a pea shooter that literally could not kill other players and only used to “lighten” players up until closer for the shotgun gameplay…just no.
Stop thinking about the past and think logically.
we should not have an assault rifle as some last ditch weapon…we got to use logic people…how will new players even understand that? it is illogical.
nonsense.
this certainly is not true.
perhaps the franchise is stale/outdated and can’t attract new players with that non movement style of gameplay?
Let us move man…are we living beings or tanks?
sorry but i just disagree so much with the elite premise of the concept.
this is the lancer from gears argument all over again…the “hardcore/old school” fans want this particular type of gameplay that they got used to but that gameplay is illogical.

but this is illogical as well. why would the BR win automatically when you are in the AR’s class range?
It doesnt make sense and breaks the logic of the game.
This though is beyond frustrating for me as well.
Not only can I not hear footsteps often but it is even hard to tell when an enemy lands their first shots on you. almost like the game forgets to inform you that someone has shot at you.

Kinda sounds like that’s the case here, bud. If they’re running in a straight line through the map holding the trigger down, literally any amount of map knowledge or cover usage will outplay them.
The only reason the AR is getting as many kills as it is is because nobody seems to know how to use cover. Now that the gun actually does an appropriate amount of damage, people can’t just run straight at it firing their BR and get free kills. Sorry.
