Do something about lack of communications???

Is there anyway that something can be done about the lack of communication in the game. Halo 2 was awesome because there was no party/private chat B.S. that keeps everyone from talking, and because almost everyone had a mic at the time. Is there anything that can be done such as a playlist requiring you to have a mic, or some kind of notification at the start of the game to switch over to the Halo 4 game channel or anything. It sucks going into games and losing because of the horrible randoms who you can’t even give instructions and advice to now.

They could take a page from (ugh christ almighty im going to get flamed for this) COD and have playlist were either it is game chat, or mike off. that would increase the amount of people using mics, or consequentially increase the amount of people who dont talk…

you can’t force someone to use their mics though

What’s stopping me from going into that playlist with a mic, then not talking or just taking it out?

Nothing can be done. And don’t say ‘remove them from the playlist if they mic is unplugged’, because we all have controllers that die or wireless mics that run out of battery.

^ This. I cannot, for the life of me, stand using that thing. All I want to do is play Halo, not hear all the idiotic chatter and trash-talk that gets tossed back and forth in-game. -_-

This, this, and maybe some of this.

I can’t seem to find a game without some 13 year old talking trash, or some immature MLG wannabe bragging about his past endeavours that he thinks everyone cares about.

No, you can’t force someone to speak and communicate, but if you can at least force them to hear instructions and suggestions coming from the team leaders, they might not drive off by themselves in that warthog and give the enemy free kills constantly. I think the biggest problem with Reach is the morons that make up a lot of the population, and even if they don’t talk to me, I know that I’d be able to enjoy it much more if I could have everyone hearing me ordering them around, and be like “hmm, I have 2 kills, that Helen Keller kid has 34, and he wants me to go chill in this cave with him. I think I’ll do exactly that”. Even a playlist that requires you to be on the game channel or have no mic at all is better.

And how are you going to force the ‘team leaders’ to talk? If there is any at all.

There is absolutely no way to force communication upon online players. End of.

woah. i pictured your avatar saying that too.

I’m all for a playlist that doesn’t allow you to join if you’re in a party. It is annoying as piss seeing everyone in a party and not able to hear you when you say something.

All you people against the idea act like it would apply to every playlist. No -Yoink- you can’t “Force” communication, but for people like me, and there are a lot of them, who want to be heard when they talk, obviously they would go into the playlist for a reason. What’s to stop you going in with it, then unplugging it? Nothing, but what would you want to do that for? To be a troll and ruin it for people who want to talk?

I’m in my underpants bellowing at my monitor.

Graphic enough, yet?

I can go into more detail if you like…

I pay to be able to use parties, and you can be sure I’ll be talking to friends rather than randoms.

You want to know how you get people to talk to each other more? Remove every single offensive word from every player’s brain, so no one is offended and no one is offending anyone else. People stop using mics because they much rather talk to someone who’s number one goal is to belittle everyone else in the group. Same thing goes with Party chat.

Forcing people to use mics you’ll run into problems. People will mute EVERYONE who squeaks, plays crappy music over their mics, SCREAMS, swear, trash talk, racist, sexist, Stat flames, and hits on any one of the other -Yoink!-. And you also have the people who have family settings turned on that mutes everyone but their friends. And then you have the people with this wonderful little software called Skype, mute the game/voices, and talk to our friends using Skype.

I’ve heard many different reasons why we need more communication between people, reasons to stop party chat, force people to have mics, and ways to make people talk with other players, and some of those ideas sound good on paper, but put it to use in the real world, you end up with a big mess.

The only real way to get more people to work together and talk, is to let people do things their own way, and let them group up with people who are willing to talk, and not be one of the those pointed out above.

PS: Before any of you start posting like I’m the one with “Thin skin” about what’s said above keep in mind that I’m pointing out REASONS why some people don’t want to talk/use game chat. I’m in the Army, I went to Ft Knox for Basic, and I live in Utah, there is very little that gets under my skin, but the few things that do, I have reasons for.

I totally understand that there are -Yoinks!- out there BUT first of all, its a rated M game, people who are easily offended or have famil settings on shouldn’t be playing it in the first place. That said, I stand by what I said earlier, it should be an option for the people who want it. One playlist. Call it Team Teamwork.

agreed!

my rules is: in my party chat with friends or -Yoink-!

I will never use my mic outside of party chat and if I’m not a in a party chat I will have no mic.

The silly excuse of having no mics makes you play worse is hilarious too. I do just fine without one and do not like hearing the random crap randoms probably say to me. In games like CoD that have no way to mute all players I simply go to the guide > preferences > and set voice to zero. I then hear no one =)

Varying levels of want…

> I totally understand that there are -Yoinks!- out there BUT first of all, its a rated M game, people who are easily offended or have famil settings on shouldn’t be playing it in the first place. Campaign/Single player is rated M, MP based gametypes are not rated.
Also, who’s to say those with family settings aren’t the reason they have family settings on? If a 17 year old, who works with people with fouler mouths than he, lives in his family’s house with younger kids who also uses the Xbox shouldn’t be playing Halo, just because the Xbox has family settings on? Also, believe it or not, but there are people who play Halo for more reasons than just to belittle everyone else just because they have a higher rank, there are people who play Halo because it’s fun.

But lets say you guys get your way, and there’s a play list that forces everyone to have mics, that play list is going to be full of people who mute everyone else for the reasons I stated in my other post, or be full of people like what I stated in my other post. a very small amount of people will actually go into that play list. How do I know this? Because that’s what happened in MW2.

I much rather there be a working filter that limits the search to people who have Mics, who don’t have you muted/are muted them selves by you, are not in party chat. That feature would be a 100000 times better than having play lists that force people to use their mics and game chat. You’re more likely to be matched with people who are willing to use their mics to actually chat and use team work using their voice.

And can you guess why it’s a better plan than using a mic/game chat only play list?
