In my opinion all of the extra sound effects for things like grabbing a flag or charging a seed pod (whatever that is) make the game a cluttered audio mess. Do these noises actually add anything to the game play experience?
I find it out of place to hear noises that sound more like I’m playing a Donkey Kong game from 30 years ago.
I totally get that it’s better than Halo 5. I guess my biggest concern is that it just feels cluttered. There are times, especially in objective matches, when there are so many different sounds that it seems impossible to determine what sound is important.
I’m sure that some of it will just take time to adjust and learn the different sound cues.
Agreed, I have definitely noticed the audio clutter in games, a lot of times there are noises that sound like i should be paying attention to them and I have no idea what they’re referring to because there are so many
I love the power seed noises and flag noises and such. What Im not a huge fan of is the “juice” sound of killing someone is to high. I also hate my AI so much I want him muted, but I dont want to turn off the announcer.
Audio that I would turn off or tone down if I could.
AI- Off
“Juice” toned down
Callouts- Off (luckily you can do this one in the settings)
Big Team Battle Commander- I just want Jeff with his quick callouts. If she just said what Jeff says than I wouldnt care.
I totally agree with this. I hear noises that sound like they are important but there are so many other noises that also sound like they are important that it just makes none of them important and I end up ignoring them.
I think there are options in the Settings menu to turn of subtitles. I think it is under the Accessibility tab. (No guarantee they will work. If they don’t work make sure to file a support ticket.)
The sooner Jeff Steitzer is in BTB the better. I can’t believe they didn’t have him in it from the beginning. (Of course they are probably going to charge us $10 for his voice.)
I agree with the OP that the default soundscape can be overwhelming. I loathe that kill confirmation “juice” sound associated with all multi-kills or headshots. In my many attempts to turn it down I noticed it seems to be programmed into the Sound Effects slider while the “thump” sounds associated with all normal kills seem to be programmed into the Hit Detection Effects slider. I wish 343 Industries would consider programming all the hit detection and kill confirmation sounds into the Hit Detection Effects slider so that players have the option to turn them off completely, similar to the campaign’s soundscape.
I actually started a thread here about the soundscape this week :). I titled it “Kill Confirmation Sound Effect.”
