This is a question that I have to ask myself very often at the moment.
I know the challenges are part of the problem, but a CTF where someone just walks around and kills player on the other side of the map and the flag bearer doesn’t quite fit together.
Or ignores a dropped flag or skull and goes hunting in the enemy base.
This is the fault of 343 in my opinion. Players cannot select what modes they play, so those that want to play slayer cannot do so without getting it selected from a random pool. It is a serious and obvious design flaw. While it annoys me as well, I cannot be mad at the players doing it since they do not have a choice in the matter.
Absolutely, and also the fault lies with the battlepass, and the only method of progressing being the challenges. Players are more focused on the challenges than actually playing the game.
It seems to me like 90% of the time the enemy team players are able to play the objective despite them not choosing the game mode they want or challenges that progress ranks. I am 100% blaming the potato players on my team for what the OP described.
With one exception, I was the only player on my team to ever hold the skull and when I had it I couldn’t get the rest of the team to support me.
The exception was when me and an enemy killed each other at the same time. I watched as the respawn timer counted down as a teammate in the area looked at the my body with the skull then walked off and left the room.
I had to tell him several times to return to the room to pick up the skull, which he did, for about 3 seconds before putting it back down.
Several times when we killed the carrier on the enemy team members of my team would just run off, I’m assuming to try and find another enemy to kill rather than picking up the skull.
Yes this is a big flaw, a big one.
BUT this is no reason, to even try the selected gamemode. You can still fame kills while protecting the flag bearer. One possibility, if one does not want to play the mode, would be to leave the round, not necessarily in ranked, but a possibility social.
Yes, and that’s why I think it’s sad at the moment that nobody plays the game modes, but only collects kills.
I know that there is always someone like that, but at the moment I think it’s getting a bit out of hand.
Maybe they were focusing on daily tasks? I personally focus how to capture the flag but I admitted sometimes my teammates just killing enemies not capturing the flag.
The game is still fresh, some of the newer modes people will still be learning or adjusting.
Let’s not also forget this will be a lot of peoples first time playing Halo since it’s free to play MP.
Sometimes you just get teammates who aren’t objective focused. That’s just how it is.
