Lets face it. The community is far better at creating maps than the developers, and 343i will do what any other developer out there does and put out as many map DLC’s as they can before Halo 5.
Let’s move beyond this stupidity. Obviously Halo 4 has to ship with ssome maps for a functional day 1 match making, but we the community should not buy any DLC. If creating 4 maps for digital download equals 20 bucks, then the multiplayer alone in any Halo game warrants a 60 dollar game. Yet we get multiplayer, campaign, forge, theater, etc… all for 60 bucks. DLC is a rip off.
Give us a full map editor capable of creating as high of quality maps that would come in a map pack, or as close as you can come on the Xbox360. It is time.

Did you miss the part where I said “Obviously this game has to ship with some maps…” or did you not even read the OP?
And the people who do not have internet would not be left in the dust, they can create maps too. And honestly, who the -Yoink- doesn’t have access to internet?

I read it. I’d rather they make base maps (dev maps) with things that we can’t do (elevators, dynamic events, ect.) than just have a bunch of Forge maps inputted into the game. There are always limits to Forge, which is why we have dev maps at all.

So why not give us a dynamic event creator. I’m sure it can be done.

I don’t know enough of the technical side of such a mechanic to say whether its possible or not.
> But how would you creat the skyboxes and the little things without investing significant time into it.
OMG it’s not like it would require a Bachelors Degree to operate. It would obviously be user friendly and eliminate unnecessary work like creating skyboxes.

im just saying your probably never going to get a great asthetically pleasing map with a map editor because everything is pre-set.

No, with Forge World everything is pre-set. Forge World is not a full map editor.

Even with a full out map editor there are going to be limits to what you can do that they can do with DLC
OP,
99.9999% of all community maps are utter rubbish, a few of my own included.
Your problem isn’t with Developer-made maps, but the developer making the maps. Bungie made all the maps that shipped with Reach. And yes, they were all horrible (With the exception of reflection, which is a Halo 2 remake anyway, so it doesn’t count). However, 343 is not Bungie. Many of the Core Halo team responsible for some of the classic maps are now working at 343, so there’s a very good chance that some awesome new quality maps will be brought out.
Regardless, though, you can’t ignore the players who don’t have access to the internet. The game will ship with maps, whether they’re good or not.
What you are asking for wont happen cause 343i like every one else likes money, but what they can do is make map packs like they have always done but for the last one give us something for the pc to make a map from scratch so people that would like to try and make maps can, just like with halo custom edition. if you get good at it you can make some crazy maps on custom edition.
Honestly, I can’t stand most of the custom maps in Reach (or Halo 3 for that matter). None of them are any good except for Affinity and maybe Select. I personally wish they had their own playlist so that I didn’t have to deal with them in matchmaking. On top of that, Reach’s base maps are overall quite poor. I’d rather 343 work on making good maps for Halo 4 rather than relying on the community maps.
On a side note, I can’t wait for CEA so that I can finally have some good maps to play on!
i think the developers on average make better maps than the community. most of the problems i here about maps are on the maps that are invasion maps and sword base.
