Do not paywall anything for those who bought game.

One solution to the ONGOING issue of armour coatings is to make it so that people who paid full price for the campaign can earn EVERYTHING by playing the game, and not requiring thousands of hours of grinding. At the same time those who didn’t buy the game can have some items paywalled because of the F2P nature of the multiplayer.
The update still does not address the armour coating issue and I think this is one way to do it. There is no reason for colours, textures, etc. to all be locked into “coatings” when other games like DOOM and Warframe allow customization of both.

I’m against paid coatings since want a complete game at launch but I’d be all for paid Doom armour in Halo Infinite.

I can get on board with that to an extent…BUT then people would just go out and buy the $60 game to avoid the micro-transactions and thus defeating their purpose and I don’t think from a business standpoint that that is going to happen. Furthering the point then micro-transactions would be void in the industry and we would go back to launching full content rich games…and we cant possibly have that when there’s so much $ to be made by doing less work during crunch time as opposed to launching some stuff now and working later. LOLZ

They have no excuse, 100% I’m down for being excluded from micro transactions because we’re effectively getting screwed as a consumer otherwise.

Make it to where if you pay 60$ you get full color customization of every armor piece, or you have to steadily unlock all the armor pieces and colors but you still get access to them

Strange assumption… seeing as we know nothing about what will be there at launch.

what I mean is armour coating has nothing to do with full game or not

Armour coatings are just as much apart of the game as anything else since there basically like colours that have been there since Halo 1. Regardless I’d rather have a complete game and not have a repeat of things like Halo 5 where BTB was missing at launch for a very long time till 343i listened to the complaints or the infamous drip fed of delayed armours behind an irritating gambling loot box system.

But what relevance does armour coatings have with weather the game will be complete or not

You’re just making statements that make no sense. Pretty sure I’ve made it clear that I rather have a game as complete as it can be at launch. When a game needs several updates to have more content…then that game will never be fully available on physical release because when servers go down it would become impossible to get the rest of the content. Right now for example I can play the entire of MCC on physical copy except for Odst/Reach and yet Halo 5 has the least amount of content in the series on physical copy while ‘downloads’ just seems to be a way for some fans to try dismiss these issues. I just simply want a complete game instead of a game that is patched in later.

It sounded more like you asked a question and I gave you a long reply about why I felt like I’m concerned about possibly being an incomplete game if they remove content for the sake of putting it behind a MT paywall.

The $ model has to sustain the game for a decade. Your up front $60 is only a fraction of what they need. If you even pay that… As a lot of people will be on game pass…

10 year service… That’s a lot of DLC and server maintenance.

And MTX are great in that you get what you pay for. It’s up to you to decide if it’s value to you. I’m all for it.

And coatings make sense. People will pay, and pay handsomely, for movie tie ins etc.

your buying the campaign and getting access to campaign rewards that carry over to multiplayer. Assuming those are campaign-specific, FTP players won’t have access to them. They will have access to all those included in the progression for multiplayer and then the paid for additions. All because you paid for the campaign does not mean you then get all paid for additions (honestly, they should make everyone pay for campaign DLC and i hope they do if it functions how I think it will)

I agree barely anything should be paywalled for the people who payed 60 for the full game… but at the end of the day, it is still a business. I’m conflicted with the entire F2P thing… it will bring more people, but then 343 has to monetize things, even for full game buyers to compensate. The best we can hope is that whatever is still paywalled for us(us being people who buy the game), it won’t be an insane amount of items or things that are better suited as a reward for harder achievements.

It is also a Microsoft Studio game, which means itll be on gamepass, and microsoft is rolling in the dough with that service right now. So maybe it won’t be awful.

I’m all for non-gameplay altering, non-random microtransactions. I hate grinding for my armor personally, all of my good experiences come from the gameplay itself but the gameplay doesn’t feel right if I can’t have my candy colored spaceman look the way I want him to. I would gladly spend like 60 dollars to purchase 4 or 5 armor sets, pieces, and skins to play virtual dress up. As long as the purchases don’t alter the gameplay at all.

Yep. Cosmetics only. If people want to pay money to dress up like Iron Man or in the kit of their favourite footy team. Power to them.

I paid for the announcer pack in Halo 5. Worth every cent.

I feel sorry though for everyone who puts so much effort into their armour choices and colours… I don’t give it a second thought when I’m playing against you. The only thing that matters is your K:D. And who T-bagged who. Not what you were wearing while you did it.

The only thing I can say that I’ve noticed about people’s armour choices… is that those who choose helmets with things sticking up/out of them - tend to be royal -yoink-jockeys.

Yeah they do. I use their armor choice as a metric on how annoying they’re going to be and target them the whole match.

I prefer subtle, functional armor sets.
