Simple solution for 343:

-Reverse the 10% decrease to Melee damage for all weapons
-Decrease spawn rate for Mangler (make it spawn rarer than common weapons like BR and Commando, but more common than Rocket Launcher I.E. Bulldog)

Excellent idea! Manglers a power weapon, so it shouldn’t spawn as frequently. Don’t increase TTK on all weapons with a melee nerf, especially if desync still persists!

The mangler is absolutely fine the way it is. Does not need a nerf.

I first thought Mangler was fine but I have changed my mind now. It is too strong.

Now I am happy with the nerf, although two months ago I would have argued against it.

Use the Bulldog and Heatwave more then.

The mangler won’t be nerfed. Melee damage will decrease by 10% and I am all for it. CQC is so boring in Infinite; melees are the only effective strategy.

Neither of those weapons can kill a sword user faster than a Mangler. I’m pretty sure that both of those are also one shot one melee kills, but as of this melee Nerf they will probably suffer as well.

You people are obsessed with the sword. Use the friggin’ repulsor, stop hanging around door corners, give yourself long sightlines. Use your brain to counter a knife with a spring attached to it, my goodness.

I agree with some of what you’re saying here.

Commando definitely needs something. I think less recoil and bloom would be enough.

Pulse carbine is terrible!! It needs to be completely reworked.

Ravager normal shot definitely needs a buff and it’s getting it so I’m interested to see how it will play. As of right now it’s not a visible weapon at all.

Sidekick…ok I have to massively disagree with you here. How the heck does it need a buff!!! It’s already super good. It’s pretty damn accurate you can shoot it fast as hell it has good amount of ammo… And you want it stronger??? I got to hear your explanation why you want this weapon to be buffed.

Disruptor I actually don’t think needs a buff at all. I think it’s pretty decent as it is. It’s an automatic pistol that can hit multiple targets and can disable vehicles. Sounds pretty decent to me.

Bulldog I think it’s pretty good the way it is. I think the problem with that gun is they called a shotgun and people aren’t used to this type of shotgun in Halo. The only thing I think that it might need is maybe an ammo buff, but even that I don’t know if it’s necessary.

One weapon I’m surprised that you didn’t mention is the plasma pistol. Unless you think it’s fine but personally that weapon needs a major buff. It is completely useless now compared to other halos. Before it could disable vehicles, can’t do that now… The tracking ability of it is utter garbage now too. So you can climb while still charging it… Whoopi!! :laughing: Personally I would just make it so it tracks better and at bit better distance, similar to Halo 5. Do this and me becomes a visible weapon. I’ve played I don’t know how many matches and I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen people pick it up and use it.

I am pretty concerned with this whole update And people keep forgetting that it’s not the mangler that’s being nerfed it’s every bloody weapon for melee. I do not like this at all! I also don’t like the fact that social is now going to play differently in ranked when it comes to weapons like the BR. So the BR is going to be nerfed in social when it comes to melee but it’s going to be “normal” When it comes to ranked… To me this is the wrong way to go. Social and ranked should play the same when it comes to weapons. Sure if you want to remove radar or not have certain weapons or equipment on the map that’s fine but a player should be able to go from social to ranked and things work the same.

Personally I don’t think the Mangler needed this type of nerf yet. I agree with many others that I think they should have put it up to a tier two weapon first. If that didn’t work very well then you look at other things. To me now this weapon is going to be utterly useless. Yes it still has a stronger melee than other weapons but that’s it. I’d rather have the sidekick or an AR.

I have a feeling this change for the Mangler is going to blow back and their face and something else will have to end up being done.

It doesn’t need a buff, just no nerfs at all. Melee should stay the same and the Mangler needs to be a red rack power weapon. This change will make people stop using the Mangler in higher level play, which sucks.

Exactly, the Mauler looks cool and can only be used at melee range anyways but the mangler is just a super beefed up ugly version of it.

It’s definitely gonna see less use. I’m curious if the pros will still pick it up. So many clips of them just running past racks not even bothering to grab a second because the BR is they need. I know they can still use the “Hold This Combo” but that’s just a tacky Noob Combo as far as I’m concerned.

I agree that the Mauler looks cooler than the Mangler, but I definitely like using the Mangler more than I ever did the Mauler. In Halo 3 Fiesta if I spawned with the Mauler I was instantly sad and just swapped to whatever my other weapon was because basically any other weapon was better. That’s probably how I’m gonna feel about the Mangler in season two.

The Mauler basically did the same job in CQC that the Plasma Pistol did by removing/damaging shields and then follow it with a melee, but didn’t make the same obvious hum to alert that you were ready/there.

For me the Mangler has felt like a good replacement for the Halo 4 Boltshot. A headshot capable pistol with CQC utility. I liked the H4 Boltshot, but it was op because it was a pocket shotgun that could one-shot you at close range when charged. In the same way I find the Heatwave to be a better replacement for the Scattershot. It serves a similar function, but does it better than the past version.

The real problem is that they let players spawn with it in the their loadouts. It also its alt-fire outranged the shotgun/scattershot. But that could have been tweak, but never was.

The alt fire was the charge shot. It was a pistol first, shotgun second. And yes spawning with it was the problem much like every other problem with all loadout Halo 4 guns.

As for the alt fire, (if you’re talking about the charge shot) it’s range was very short and the drop off was severe. Making it much more like a hyper charged Mauler. A Mauler that could still fire at range.

Huh… that sounds familiar. Now where have I…? Oh yeah the Mangler is kinda like that isn’t it? Fires ranged shots, but limited on range and capable of headshots with utility in CQC to compete with other off the rack weapons. Yeah in my opinion the Mangler is just Mauler/Boltshot evolution much like the Heatwave to the Scattershot.

This melee nerf is just going to big down the sandbox and guarantee that the energy sword sets at the top of a pile of bodies as the king of CQC, unchallenged and unbeatable.
