Well, there’s nothing confirming that the jetpack is in matchmaking. We’ve only seen it in a Spartan Ops screenshot and listed as a possible attachment to the armor.
As far as we know, it’s only in Spartan Ops and maybe Campaign.

Never had a problem with the jet pack, but I’m strictly a runner.
Although I can understand what the guy is complaining about with jet packing I’d have to say that,
if you can’t shoot down a jet packer you probably shouldn’t even play the game.
But if the jet pack is being replaced with the thruster I’m down for that.
Sick of these ignorant threads. This is the most sensical way of going about the jetpack “problem”.
Only place it on the Map as a power AA pickup/ Ordnance AA
Than give it one playlist as the Default AA for all players. Just one, youd be surpirsed at how many would play this. Jet Pack is great for Halo the problem is, is that it changes how than game plays too drastically.
Standard Halo maps and reach disc and DLC maps are holding back jet packs true potential. Many of them end up being broken or just not that interesting because they are being built with both jetpacking and non-jetpacking players In mind. This median ruins what could be a great standard halo map and it also limits the possiblites for creating great jetpacking maps.
Maps can literally be designed so that if the user does not have a Jet Pack it would be impossible to navigate all the routes. This cannot be said about any of the AA’s unless you include evade roll jumps and sprint jumps. Even than, those maps would likely resemble a standard Halo map. As for a map desgiend completely around jetpack. Wouldn’t look anything like your standard Halo map.
When forging a MLG map that features 1 or possibly 2 jetpacks as pickup AA’s on the map, it can actually enhance the creative process as you could design certain area’s of the map around jetpacks strengths. Areas that would give players with the jetpack a natural advantage over an opponent.
The creative process is even more unrestricted if designing a map for a gametype that features Jet-pack as the Base AA’s. You would be allowed to explore more intricate, unique and vertical designs because of the amazing movement capabilities that the Jet-pack provides.
This is why time and time again I will say the Jet Pack does not need to be nerfed or removed.
What it needs is to be removed as a AA choice and only placed on the maps as a power AA pickup/ Ordnance AA
Than it needs to be given one playlist as the Default AA for all players. Just one, youd be surpirsed at how many would play this. Jet Pack is great for Halo the problem is, is that it changes how than game plays drastically. This can cause all sorts of problems when its being implemented in the wrong way. As is evident with reach.

I’m sick of all u who keep saying that jetpackers are easy to kill. YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED A GOOD JETPAKCER THEN! Stop thinking your so good and can kill anyone you can play against. I would say I am an above average player and I never looked at your stats but I bet any money I can beat you if I use jetpack and you don’t.

I’m aware of that. I’m also aware that people learn to modify what they do and how they do it or people will die… time and again… to the same tactics. In the end though, considering how much faster Halo 4 played for me, the least of your worries is going to be who has what AA…

Are u kidding me your reason for u to want the jetpack to stay is because it gets you easy kills?? And your taking advice from this guy he’s shooting his AR all the time and he flies straight up for the hell of it. You people make no Yoinking! sense. I am sick and tired of this bull **** if you people can not see its flaws I’m sorry to say but you are simply unintelligent. If you want jetpack to stay you are either just not smart enough to see its flaws, a casual gamer, or just some damn kid that wants to fly around the map for ****s and giggles. You are wrecking Halo and if Halo 4 has the jetpack without it being severely nerfed Halo 4 WILL FAIL end of story. If you want your dumb little jetpack play Halo reach and fricken stay there because you DON’T know what a good game is.
I know I may have gone a bit overboard but you people will not listen too me when I am being calm.
I don’t think it should be removed. Also since its confirmed, people should be talking about ways to improve it.
I think if it acted more like a jump pack (Brutes on Halo 3) it would be more balanced. The Jump pack is one burst use, so that you have to aim your jump better and also your flight pattern becomes more predictable. This is perfect for using it as a shortcut method but you can not dominate the sky with it. Also the initial burst of the jump pack would cause the player to not be able to shoot, such that they can’t shoot on the way up but can on the way down.
Also without proper use you would be able to kill yourself from falling damage if you land on a spot lower than your take off point.
That introduces more cons and reduces the current pros of reachs jetpack.
> Wow… first time for everything… I just laughed myself out of my chair because of DesktopBarrel’s comment above…
Lets just say every copy of HR should come with a mandatory Xanax prescription. If you’re a competitive player, it should come with a gun to save you’re self the effort.
> The Jetpack offers no unique gameplay…and just allows random people Flying around…no that is NOT how Halo should be.

>
> IN CONCLUSION: the Jetpack is a NUANCE…It has no purpose other to annoy people in Halo and does not belong in halo…as it completely breaks the fact that the better player will win a fight against a lesser skilled player
Not sure if mentioned.
But I think you meant NUISANCE, not NUANCE. On topic, I agree.
Yep, having to aim in the magical direction of up is so difficult that JP is wildly OP. Yawn.
What I’d like to see is some kind of legitimate counter to it. Like EMP using the rest of the jet packer’s fuel.
i agree. jetpack and active camo aa need to go.

cleeborp, #1, these forums are anti-insult. Please avoid that. #2, the jet pack exists as a tool to gain elevation and put someone to a place they normally would not have been able to reach. For example, countdown. take out all the gameplay and mechanics you want and ask yourself if jet pack is a smart option to take over any other AA and the answer is yes. Why? It’s a vertical map similar to Boarding Action from CE. Let’s now take Uncaged, a limited movement space map. Is it smart to take anything else besides Jet Pack? When in the right hands (the people who don’t commit suicide is who I’m referring to), yes. Now lets take a map which jet pack might not be the smart choice. A rectangle shaped map called Asylum. Now, if your a team with a setup of car, 2nd ring, sniper spawn, and insert any respawn area here what do you think is going to happen to the jet pack guy when he jumps off spawn? ring 2, and sniper have one half of the area locked down and car/ring 2 with an added bonus of respawn-anywhere-guy all cover the map. Let’s say you don’t have ring 2 or any of them, the jet pack guy is still going to face two or more guns because he has to elevate himself past ring 3 just to shoot at someone and heaven forbid the guy he shoots at has an anti-AA ability like sprint for example (sprinting away to avoid fire). Jet pack is fine when you know how to use it, and even better, when you know how to counter it.

Still laughing about that, but Halo: Reach isn’t that bad. I’ve had to play many games in my life already and Halo Reach isn’t that bad. It’s got its ups and downs, but like jet pack haters, the truth of the matter is its not in our control, therefore, I don’t choose to worry about it. Besides, I’ve had my fair share of bad FPS before and Reach is far from hitting those standards…

You just don’t get it do you. If we come face to face I have jetpack and you don’t I can hit my jetpack to evade from melee and grenades which are two from the golden triangle, but you also can’t hit me with rockets, sword, shotgun, hammer, concussion rifle, and brute shot so if I have a a precision weapon and u don’t I almost guarantee win and if you do have a precision weapon I get an instant height advantage. How do you people not see the imbalance here? You have to be Yoinking! blind, deaf, and dumb to not see it.

#1. I will always have a precision weapon. Even off spawn. How? It’s called the pistol and playing smart. hence my 1.41 k/d overall and over 2.0 with the sniper.
#2. Jet pack to the ceiling if you wish, in a 1v1, I’ll bide my time till you make a mistake and I kill you for it.
#3. No map, no AA, no anything is going to give a better advantage over me. No different then I over you. It’s how you play, that’ll determine how far you go with anything and everything you have in your loadout.

#1 All he’s saying is if you don’t have a precision weapon in your hands you will always lose to jetpack which removes a lot of the weapon sandbox against the jetpack.
#2 how are you biding your time, hes got the height advantage therefore a majority of the time he can see your hiding spot.
#3. This is a ridiculous comment. If I know the map better than you I have an advantage over you, If I have a rocket launcher I have an advantage over you. I like AAs but I see them more as a rock paper scissors, rock has an advantage of scissors, therefore my AA may have an advantage over yours in different situations.
You also didn’t address his main point that it destroys the golden triangle.
Asylum, Uncaged, and Sword Base are ruined by it. either map flow is destroyed (Uncaged and Sword Base) or the entire map is destroyed (Asylum).
Powerhouse, Countdown, Boardwalk, Zealot, and Boneyard are unaffected by it (so is Reflection, except for the beginning). it works great for Campaign, Firefight, and Customs.
nerf Jetpack a bit so gameplay isn’t damaged. make some maps better.
or make it as a map pickup/personal ordnance drop
it can work, it’s just got to be done good enough.

I feel that it is fine in Asylum where its such an open space.
Sword Base in my opinion is the one of the only maps that is actually well designed for the jetpack as it allows for shortcuts but not in any major fighting areas. Sword base is still a terrible map but not because of jetpack.
Powerhouse and Countdown on the other hand are ruined with jetpack.

Asylum allows every player with Jetpack to automatically shoot anyone on the map. especially with everyone with DMRs (which Halo 4 will allow you to do much more often).
Sword Base is alright with Jetpack. but if you don’t have Jetpack and someone else does, your forced to either spend 3 minutes running up ramps, or go up 3 death trap lifts. no me gusta.
Countdown allows small benefits; you have to be in the middle of the map when you fly up to the top. there’s 5 lifts, and quick ramps to get up top without it. not much of an advantage, nor any shooting/height advantage.
Powerhouse does allow height advantage; however, map flow is nowhere even neared destroyed, nor is gameplay. you get a height advantage, yes, but the advantage is not that much.
