Scalpers are the scum of the earth and if your buys consoles from them you just as bad. I wish the people selling these products would do something about it. If there was a huge release when the game comes out that would be fantastic especially if they guaranteed consoles in stores. Stop making the scalping Buisness lucrative.
this is a worldwide problem, not only console but a lot of other aspects of life.
I think they will wait till November, holiday presents, when people are willing to spend a lot of money, and players are not the only ones buying, parents with no clue, uncles, grands.
agree with the -not buy just from anyone-
exact reason why i cant get my hands on a ps5 at the moment, they hoard every single console and later you see them pop up for absurd prices
this is common sense. anyone who buys from them are just as much of a problem as the scalpers.
I agree but alas, people are desperate.
There’s nothing wrong if someone wants to buy a sold-out item for way over MSRP from someone else who got to it first.
What you’re suggesting is no different from telling someone “Don’t buy a purple armor coating for $3. There are plenty of cheaper/free options to choose from.”
People have the right to spend their money how they wish. Either both or neither cases are predatory. It’s up to everyone to make that determination for themselves.
Microsoft and Sony and Nvidia and retailers have no incentive to prevent scalping, once a console or card has been sold at MSRP they don’t really care where it goes.
Though would be nice if there was a way to just get in a queue for a non-scalped console, even if the line is long enough that it wouldn’t get shipped for 2 months or something. Better than 2+ months of tapping twitter notifications just to see that nope it’s sold out again

I agree. The only friend in my group that has a Series X got it for over 1k with shipping, and he doesn’t see a problem with that… man, I seriously hate scalpers.
Got mine at msrp on the first day it became available for preorder. Got a ps5 for my nephew also a few months later and just picked up a series s for my stepson a few weeks ago. All for msrp.
Absolutely agree. If you buy from scalpers you are part of the problem.

Scalping kills the brand and people who buy from scalpers are promoting scalping and therefore the death of the brand. The Buisness exists to sell consoles and games to people who are going to open them and use them not turn around and sell them for 3x their value. It’s criminal and anyone who says otherwise is to young to understand the basic principles surrounding the problem
Never buy from scalpers. If stuck with stock, they’ll have to reduce prices. Unfortunately that won’t happen due to shortages and people will give in, fueling their profits.
Don’t give in folks
Either buy it at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, for a fair slightly raised aftermarket price, or don’t buy it at all. But whatever you do, don’t even CONSIDER buying from a scalper. Lining their pockets will only give them a reason to keep going.
As much as scalpers suck, this isn’t really a topic for Waypoint
