Simply put single shot is a better option for the main weapon than burst is.
Single shot adds a level of consistency and skill that burst cannot. It’s more enjoyable for all levels of players. With single shot you either hit or you miss. It’s incredible obvious and leaves no room for misinterpretation; your shot hit or your shot missed. With a burst weapon it may look like you hit but only 2 out of the 3 bullets actually did or something to that effect. This happens constantly and leads to a feeling of inconsistency; kind of like what bloom does.
Do not add a burst fire main weapon to the game 343. I guess you could keep the BR and just make it single shot though.

Halo weapons were at their best with either semi-auto or full spray. A burst weapon seems frail and unsatisfying by comparison. I’m sick of the BR anyway, and all it’s offspring.

I see where your standing, but there are some downsides to this DMR.
The BR is more accurate in a no-scope view, plus the rhythm is nice and consistant. Not to say it’s a 3-burst and is nearly equally powerful as a power weapon.
The DMR is nice with each accurate shot instead of you just holding down the Trigger like in the BR. This is a nice feature if your enemy doesn’t know how to aim, but it’s bad when you hit someone in the head since it’s one shot and won’t paint your target. It also feels less powerful than anythign else.
But this is debatable…

Burst is better when it comes to limiting the range of a weapon. Single shot has extremely long range.

Everything bungie has done to limit range has been beyond terrible.
It’s the single biggest contributing factor to the decline of the MP in the franchise.
Why they didn’t do something like damage drop off at X range or straight up drop off after X range is beyond me.
GT for the win. Other then that, this is a good idea.

I dunno about the functionality of these weapons, but a BR would make more sense for Halo 4 than a DMR, at least canonically. The UNSC switched to BRs sometime between Halo 1 and Halo 2.

I never said use the DMR.

Yeah, I’ve noticed this in my days of moding Halo PC, I use to max out the seeings so there was not limit, made things fun, and funny, it was fun annoying people with a shotgun from a good ways away, I wasn’t trying to hit them, just fire off rounds in their area, to mess with them. Also, why is it that all of the hand held weapons have a limited range before they disrepair and yet the Tank shell doesn’t have a limited range, I’ve done some sniping with the tank on Forge world, me and some buds sniping some one in a falcon that was beyond the draw distance, so far that we had to use a sniper rifle to be a spotter.
Also Triple Kill, get some more posts under your belt before telling people to get out because they’re a troll, this guy isn’t trolling, if you don’t like it, you can leave.
Well they could probably keep the BR while making it single shot, or put in a new medium-long ranged weapon.
But yes, I agree, single shot is far better than burst shot. Less randomness and more damage when you aim properly, yet isn’t as effective in close combat as a burst. All good things if you ask me.
As long as my shots register and theres no random spread or bloom i don’t really care
I disagree CS uses fully auto weapons and the skill gap on that slaps H1 and any other halo competitively.
It isnt the weapons fire rate that matter its the way the devs make the weapons ability to use that weapon skillful.
I really don’t want the Battle Rifle back. Call me a scrub if you want, but all the screaming and whining the try-hards made about the spread was enough to make me never want to touch the -Yoink!- thing.
Spread, plus poor latency, was enough to ruin the Battle Rifle. I like it, but I doubt it has much place in Halo’s sandbox now.

I like how you didn’t read the reasons the OP wrote to remove the BR, and the fact that you think the most important weapon has no place in the weapon sandbox.
