Sprint is a PROBLEM in many ways. This is because sprint causes bad game play mechanics for the over all skill in halo. Sprint works in a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield or a game that has a faster time to kill, this is because in a game with a faster time to kill you could kill some one and 3 seconds later find out someone is right behind you and kill them. But in halo this does not work because if your killing some one, 3 seconds latter the 1st person might not be dead by the time someone sprints up behind you and starts shooting you in the back and one kills you and the other gets the assist and you die. This has become very frustrating in a skill based game like Halo were the better skilled person is always suppose to win the gun fight but the better skilled player doesn’t always win when he is having to kill to people at once. This is proven to be a problem in Halo 5, I found that this happens a lot and it got really annoying in the higher playlist when missing one shot comes down to winning a gun fight. This problem has a lower possibility in the halo games with out sprint because its harder to get behind your opponent during a gun fight when your not accelerating at a speed witch is faster then theirs. Now this still happens but the less the better. Plus there is no contributions to sprint its just an illusion that tells you your getting to your opponent faster when really the map sizes are just increased. And proof of this is that you can walk across a halo 3 map by walking and its almost the same fast as running across a halo 5 map. If you still think sprint is a good thing and its not that big of a deal I have another reason to try to sway your opinion. Sprinting causes people to run away. In halo you should have to fight someone even if your loosing the gun fight, they should not just be able to run away and try to get there shield back some were else. This problem is almost fixed by the addition of not being able to recharge your shield while sprinting, but it still happens a lot and I have played a lot of halo 5 and that is just my experience and again the less stuff like this happens the better. So in my opinion Sprint really has no benefits and it actually benefits when it is absent. If you still think sprint is such a key part of halo then tell me why and try to prove me wrong, I am open to ideas.
I just wish sprint would go. It doesn’t belong in halo, with sprint we can never have our classic maps the way we know and love them. Truth is a perfect example. Go back to midship and heretic, there the map that truth is a remake of. In midship and heretic its all crammed but it plays well with the shotgun in the middle and sword with it. But truth has barely any cover compared to midship and heretic. Truth is super wide open and awkward and it’s just annoying to play. Sprint ruins any hope of us getting our classic maps in their full potential. Instead it’s just half as good as it used to be.
It is a big problem
But double teams happen in pretty much all shooters, even previous Halos.

Hush my child. Just let op rant about sprint so he can get to the frontpage…
Sprint is only a problem to a minority of old players who hold the aged and boring Halo 3 in high regard.
Sprint is awesome.

Slayer on midship vs slayer on Truth 2v2/4v4 what is faster?
This topic has been talked to death. --I used to hate Sprint, I absolutely hated it, especially in Halo Reach. – But then I came to the realization, that it’s in Halo for good. And it’s staying, and there’s nothing we can do about it. And now? I enjoy it. I love it. Halo has evolved, it’s changed in numerous ways. I love the game as is. Halo Reach, 4, and 5 were all built with the new Spartan/Armor abilities in mind and were designed to incorporate them in the gameplay.
The issues you’re having, are just like any other Halo game, with or without sprint. They can happen in any gameplay, and any Halo game.
It’s not a problem.
You’re welcome to continue to rant about it, but it’s in Halo for good. And complaining about it and saying that it’s still an issue won’t ever change it. It’s in Halo for good. If you don’t like it, you’re more than welcome to go play other games without sprint.

Keep in mind the map layouts have changed and have been designed to incorporate the new gameplay features.

Right, Simply showing the fact that sprint in halo doesn’t = faster gameplay , if anything its shown to enable longer matches, TTEncounter etc…
So, in the scenario you gave us, the person was out played… How does that reflect upon the games skill? You know, most people lose encounters against more than one person, it doesn’t matter if it is some obscure, vague scenario, where the presence of sprint wouldn’t have any effect whatsoever. I could literally take what you said and say: “Movement speed in Halo needs to go, because you can get behind people too fast”. How does this reflect upon sprint? The maps were smaller in Halo 3, so people would still get behind you at the same speed. Perhaps people just shouldn’t be able to move at all, because that allows them to get behind players, and we all know that tactical decision making and situation awareness don’t take skill at all.
You got outplayed. Deal with it.

Duration of match has little to do with fun mechanics.
I get your frustration; but you can chase up someone with low shields and almost always win just following them and calmly pacing your shots on them. The guy you’re chasing is gonna panic and shoot really fast to try and save his -Yoink-, and will definitely miss several shots when you’ve finally got him cornered.
Sometimes, yeah, they’ll get away. But you can get them back within the next 5, 10, 30, 60 seconds if you want.
He can’t get away forever.
If there was a solid argument somewhere in that wall I couldn’t find it. So I’ll say what I say to everyone on this subject: stop looking for arguments to legitimize a position that needs no other legitimization besides “I hate sprint and prefer the game without it.”
They should make it more skill involved and replace sprint with strafe jumping.
Tons of people agree with you bro but, the way 343 is making Halo games sprint is NOT going to disappear (sadly). Make a classic playlist with no “new” moves, if maps are a problem take the old ones or new ones the awesome community has made. Easy.
lets just play the game the way it is. I think it’s a great game. halo 2 was my game of choice I feel this is kinda getting back to those roots. Honestly it is what has brought me back to halo.
If sprint is to stay then maybe the time to kill should be less. Or faster as the Op said it. One thing I have noticed is the time it takes currently to kill someone is to long. And usually I never have time to recharge my shield before someone else is already shooting at me. Unless im just unlucky…lol. But if you look at who 343i has been getting there advice from on this game then you know why it is what it is!

You know, I think if we stay quiet they just might realize that we know that’s what they want but we’re just tired of their whining. Neutral people, like myself, and players who like sprint should just stop giving these click baiters attention. There are plenty of other threads already created where people could post their opinions on this topic. OP and others like him just want attention.
Sprint is not a problem. A lack of sprint would ALSO not be a problem. The only “problem” is a predisposed mindset that won’t allow someone to have fun, resulting in said someone lashing out at an intentional game mechanic.
