I haven’t seen any replies from mods or 343 reps on these forums (aside from push pinned threads). Has 343 released any more information on a competitive skill ranking system recently? I’ve played a ton of Halo since the release. I’ve beaten solo legendary and I am a 99 rank, but I’m starting to get tired of the online play with a lack of a skill based ranking system. Anything new about this? Thanks in advance
Most of them probably see the threads, but if you saw 10 threads saying “X game sucks and this is why!!!1!” I’m sure you’d stop.
But, like Halo 3, it’ll need time. Ranking systems need testing and alternation. I’m sure that sometime in the future, an update will be released.
Hope so. I’m going to continue playing regardless, but hoping they’d address this sooner than later. I figured if so many have been talking about this issue and that the game has been out for almost a couple months, they would’ve released some news. I think H3 had the best multiplayer system thus far, but I know it wouldn’t be possible or ideal to mimick it for H4. No system goes without its issues.
Mhm. I’m just hoping that some amazing Multiplayer maps come out. With the new abilities we have, Flood, Slayer and Objective maps shouldn’t suck.
I’m waiting until I reach 100 to take a break from MM, atleast.
The mods can’t really help. They are volunteers and are basically subject to 343is statements if they ever do give answers. You are not likely to get employee responses either. You’ll just have to check the Bulletin.

Not true. The mods are volunteers selected by the admins, ie the real employees.
Thanks for the information regarding the hierarchy. I have been reading these forums on and off since the release, but I haven’t seen any real interaction from moderators or administration with players. This may not be how it works anyway, but I was looking for any updates regarding the skill ranking system. I too am looking forward to some new multiplayer maps. I appreciate all the work 343 has put into this game. Every game has its flaws, but H4 is very solid with the potential to be even better.
A ranking system will come early next year, but will only be seen here on Waypoint.
I think BS Angel replied to a topic once, but it is rare. Even then, it seemed more like a business response…idk. Something about the personality of the guys (and gals) over at Bungie made them seem more like they were just regular people playing the game, just like us.
No offense to BS Angel or anything like that, but she comes off as feeding PR lines rather than talking to us as a game player. It’s probably not even a conscious thing. Make jokes WITH us, ABOUT us…but don’t just talk at us rather than with and to us.
That being said, I feel like once the crew gets back from celebrating the holidays (late next week, mid-week after that since New Year’s is coming up) we’ll start to get more information…new TU changes and fixes, CSR, Specialization release date for everyone, Grifball/Doubles/MultiTeam updates, File Share, MAYBE a trickle about Majestic… and I seem to remember reading that they are currently looking at 4v4 forge maps to be added into MM and eventually 2v2 so we’ll see.
They are just enjoying life outside of hard work at the moment.
Yes, I have read that previously. I’m not getting my hopes up, but I hope they decide to add the ranking in-game as well. I fail to see the reasoning in not displaying the ranking within the game. In my experience with H4, I have barely used Halo WP besides entering pre order and Raider codes.

I can’t help but think it is some ploy by MS to get people to actually use Waypoint. They wanted it to be this one-stop-shop for everything Halo, but I don’t think I have seen a single person who actually uses it on a regular basis. Same goes for Smartglass, which I mean…tons of people have smartphones and tablets now so it’s not like you have to use dial-up on the one computer in your house to look up your rank, but it still is an unnecessary step that just makes things clunky (like the terminal vids)

Moderators review threads frequently and will typically post up when they close a thread. As far as 343i, not at all besides recently with BS Angels threads. I was searching the net the other day and found nothing new or “official”. Just speculations…
I completely agree with your points on WP. It almost feels unnecessary besides the ability to look up stats from past games; however, I have barely even used that function.
