I’ve been a little out of the Halo loop recently since I only just got my xbone a couple days ago. Now i’m all prepared for Halo 5, but i’m worried that there might be some stuff i’ve missed along the way like that Halo nightfall series and who this agent locke character is. Will I understand Halo 5’s story coming straight from Halo 4?

You said you just got an Xbox One right?So I am assuming you must have got Halo MCC with it?All the people who own MCC get Nightfall for free.So do watch it whenever you get the time. The show is nothing great though. But I am sure that if you like Halo, you wouldn’t mind watching it once or twice.
You really don’t need to know any of the EU to understand Bungie halo. 343 halo you need to know a little bit. They dropped the ball on halo 4 a bit with the didact (but if you paid attention to the terminals in halo 3 you were good). I think they will more properly tie the EU with the game in halo 5.
Being a halo fan boy, I encourage you to learn all you can.
nope. plus, nightfall was pretty bad.
boring location. characters were pretty bland. no good action.
all the shots of the broken halo piece in the world couldnt have saved this movie. (they show the same scene a lot)
Nightfall is probably one of the lesser EU releases for this game. (i.e, released to tie into Halo 5, like Kilo-5 was released to tie into Halo 4).
So far, for content unique to understanding Halo 5, I would say you only really need parts of Escalation and Hunt the Truth.
You’re probably better off not watching it at all lol.
not missing anything. i just hope that hunt the truth or reading halo escalations isnt needed.
i hope they learned their lesson from h4 about needing outside material to understand the story.
i think listening to hunt the truth will be a bit more crucial to the story of halo 5 over nightfall

You can get the nightfall armor by watching nightfall on the halo channel, but it’s also available in the standard req pool.
