Do I need a Degree before understanding this game?

I dont get this game. I have played Halo all my life and I just dont understand this game, how to play it proper like where are my loadouts? Or Why does everything seem dumbed down and skill-less at some points. I want to love this game and I cant even like it yet and its pissin me off. Is it just too different from the past games for me? Anyone else feel this way? What are all these requisitions and points and they ask me for money at every turn when I click on something to try to figure out how to play it better. I am at a loss for words to truly explain how noobish I feel on a game that I have always played and never had a problem going to the next installment and figuring out my way. This feels like I will never figure it out completely or it just is so different from the past, that I wont want to play it and with that, i may as well as sell this system if thats the case because Halo makes up about 90% of my gaming time in the past. Any thoughts or suggestions or whatever welcome as long as it isn’t of the flaming variety. I just want to understand where my favorite game is now and is going in the future and I didn’t see this coming fro Halo 4. As much as some have crapped on Halo 4, I still think its the best in the series, especially for matchmaking. Is there anything I maybe dont get or understand about this Halo 5 game that maybe could make this more enjoyable for me because right now, it isn’t fun to me. Thanks for any help and/or info

Micro transactions have been proven to generate more money so this is how it’s going to be moving forward I would bet. It’s a bummer but you can get nearly anything in the game by playing matches and winning RP. Like anything else you will get used to it if you keep playing!

I disagree that Halo 4 had the best matchmaking in the series.

This game isn’t beginner friendly at all, campaign and warzone are probably the worst offenders for that. Arena isn’t too bad since it’s still like the older games minus the new mechanics.

Halo at its core is an arena shooter. Everyone has an equal start and this it is dependent on skill level, map knowledge, tactics and similar factors as to who wins the match. The loadout system from Halo 4 and to a lesser extent reach were deviations from that, in that respect Halo 5 is a return to form. I don’t understand how you can say that the game is ‘skill-less.’ The more skilled player will win most encounters as they always have. I personally am not fond of the req system, however it was implemented in a way that not spending actual money on requisitions while detrimental is not game breaking. It’s a bad thing done well. If you wish to avoid the req system entirely the arena playlists don’t use it. If you really just want to play Halo 4, it still exists as does the master chief collection. If you have specific concerns about your skill level we can help, but you need to ask the questions. You need to say, “I don’t understand x” or “I am having trouble with X.” If you ask the community will help. That is part of Halo.

Well Every other Halo before 4, you couldn’t run and I always thought that would be the biggest improvement they could make and when they put Sprint in REACH, I thought it was a step in the right direction and thought they nailed it on 4 but everything else that people thought was overdoing it in 4 I didn’t think so but now after trying to play 5 numerous times in frustration, I think they’ve just gone overboard in almost every other facet. Give me Halo maps of each generation and let me play them with Halo 4’s abilities would be my dream. Or I would take Halo 3 with Sprint added would work for me as well. I wanted the game to be faster but its gone completely and ridiculously IMHO overboard in all aspects taking away much of the skill that you had to have to be a good player in the past.

BTW, which Matchmaking do you like best?

Cheers

For some reason I’ve grinded this game more than any other Halo, I really enjoy it. I feel like there definitely is a wide skill gap in this game and the matchmaking doesn’t always compensate for that. I think this makes a lot of people frustrated.

Just seems to me the grenades damage easier now making a kill easier and everything in general seems to happen faster like killing someone, which says to me, easier so forgive the skill-less remark, maybe I could have stated it better. I also liked the weapons looks better in 4 and to me, in 5, they look more like REACH which I didn’t care for as much and doesn’t make much sense to me for them to do that. Then of course some things look completely different. Anyway, thanks for your input, I want to digest it all and then take another run at it tomorrow. Cheers

Hi and thanks for your post. The whole way you use requisites doesn’t make sense to me. It seems way to complicated anymore and thats problem the best word I could use. The entire game to me seems way more “Complicated” then it ever has or should be and I think that maybe whats buggin me the most. Cheers

Thanks, I think thats is where I will play tomorrow. in Arena instead of Warzone and I did go through what I think is most of level 1 Campaign today as well but the jury is still out on how I like that. Cheers

I found this game harder than any other halo to control but as of my performance in older halo games I’ve improved twice as much. It doesn’t feel beginner friendly I didn’t play 4v4 arena right away and it took me to now to improve and get used to it and before I was getting killed as fast as I spawned unable to even see the map.

What? You liked Halo 4 but are lost when it comes to Halo 5?

The multiplayer is the best part of Halo 5. Just play arena and get used to the spartan abilities.
As for the aiming, you should be fine with that since you liked Halo 4…

Are you talking about not understanding Warzone?
If so then all you have to know is that you’re basically capturing points on the map while also killing bosses for points to win.
As you kill you earn REQ points that you can spend on your unlocked REQ cards (that you get from req packs) to use on the battlefield. Loadouts and Armor mods are the only cards that can be used infinitely.

Besides that I have no idea what you are talking about. This Halo isn’t that far off from Halo 4. If you came from Halo Reach or before then I could understand.

Good Luck!

edit
Why post about the game if you only have 20mins played in multiplayer and only 1 mission completed for Campaign?
Kinda quick to judge…

You poor soul.

For H5, it’s too busy. You have to constantly input commands with abilities while constantly having your head on a swivel because of the swiss cheese maps with multiple routes into everything that were made for them. Then you have the cluttered rock-paper-scissors sandbox, crappy utility weapon, small radar, good lord I could go on and on and that’s only in Arena.

With Warzone, it’s a new player nightmare. You have a confusing REQ system, a game mode where the objectives aren’t explained very well, unbalanced weapons that a new player isn’t going to have and unbalanced teams where new players are put against people with a high rank. I almost forgot about Firefight which is heavily dependent on REQ’s and new players won’t have much of them.

I feel your pain.

Your argument is invalid.

What is an argument ?

So after only 4 games you’ve thrown up your hands in disgust? What in the actal -Yoink-?

Here I’ll elaborate, you haven’t had even remotely enough experience in this game to have an opinion. How can you possibly be expected to be taken seriously when your experience equates to half a day’s worth of playing?

To simplify things for you here’s the basics-

Arena- your classic halo experience. No Loadouts, no killstreaks. 4v4, everyone starts with the same two weapons, and you pickup weapons placed strategically around the map.

Warzone- a system where you upgrade your Arsenal by spending the Req points you earn between matches.

there are some nuances to pick up with Warzone that is more easily understood by just playing it. But if you are a long time halo fan you really shouldn’t be confused by anything in Arena… Unless ofcourse you started with H4…
