Yes. Look - the low is much higher now than the last couple days so it’s very likely the peak will be too.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you will see 700k players on steam charts any time soon (although one could hope) but seeing a lull midweek I don’t think would be representative of long-term population. Could it end up being that way? Sure but you wouldn’t be able to reasonably draw that conclusion from 2 days midweek steamchart population data (which is actually only a fraction of the total player base).
What’s your playstyle? But I would take the time to play w/ bots or custom solo and get to know the maps, then add in harder bots and figure out as much as possible the best sight lines in the map and the best for the situation and game type. I’d play controller if I were you tbh, many MnK players I know have switched and play much better. Adjust the deadzones at the lowest point you won’t have stick drift. I personally keep my horizontal sens at like 3.5 or 3, and my vertical and 4.5-ish. I’d rather trade for slower movement and better accuracy vs quick turnaround, IMO.
Pick your battles wisely, don’t be afraid to back out of fights to recharge shields. Don’t lone wolf. Halo is about team shooting. Set up plays with nades and finish w/ BR, etc. If you wanna play, hit me up. I’m not great or anything, but I like to think I play smart lol.
Also, I’ll add and say that at first I hated the aiming on controller regarding the lack of or change to aim assist, but now I like it because it raises the skill ceiling. Plus I’m used to my settings now. Don’t change your settings too much, give yourself time to at least get used to a setup.
dont play this game like youre playing a true halo game. Hide in cover, dont push much and dont traverse the map unless you know exactly where youre going and what for. Otherwise hunker down behind cover and hope a power weapon spawns beside you.
If you have a controller. use both mouse/keyboard and controller at the same time. go into settings and make sure all the settings for both are the same. because by default they are not. And then when you die alternate until you come up with your choice of gameplay. itll help with it. until you find the best gameplay. either way youll get better as you go. but key is make sure they are both the same settings because thats mostly where people get confused.
I kinda got used to it after playing a bunch of Siege and Apex Legends on console. Siege has no aim assist and Apex has very little from what I remember. Apex has similar TTK as Halo and is way more fast paced, so I guess I’m just used to it now.
Wow congrats, you are right - your coin flip was right. But look, the trend yesterday was completely different than any other day. I don’t think I made an unreasonable guess based on the available data.
After the last flights I had posted that I feel the game is very inconsistent. It’s as if the game itself picks a team to “enhance” before the match starts.
What I mean is the weapons including melee do different damage or preform differently. If your on the enhanced team they work a bit better.
I have seen this in my games both work for me and against me. Sometimes I can melee someone easily from what seems to great a distance. Or in 1 hit even. Other times it happens to me. I can empty a full clip from AR into someone and not even pop their shields. Sometimes I can barely shoot them and their dead.
It’s all over the place. Also explains why it so different for so many people. You have people say it works great and others that say it works terrible.
Also try adjusting your settings if you haven’t. I think it does help. Though not like a huge amount, but it does feel better.
But the point is it stopped following the downward trends on the low end and started rising. So it’s more than reasonable to assume the trend on the average or peak players could have reversed and start rising as well.
See I disagree with those saying everyone LOVES IT and HALO IS BACK!! Everyone who is loving this game is loving the idea of a new halo again. They are honeymoon staging over grapple hook and other neat toys. But the meat and bones of this game are in a lot of trouble. TTK IS A MESS. My wife and I always play some MCC and she pops off fairly often. I’m worried for her with this game. We might not play it because it is so unbalanced. The balance is there, but there is something big wrong with it all. My brother and a few friends were playing BTB yesterday and were fed up with it 3 games in. Left a huge sour taste in my mouth. Ranked feels okay, probably because of BR starts. One on one fights are a mess. If you don’t land the first shot you need to sweat to finish. If his buddy shows up to even look at you, youre done. Good luck winning that fight. Other halo’s gave you that survivable skill gap. Vehicles are a mess, weapons arent bad but that hit detection feels sweaty. Don’t even get me started on skins and progression. What a mess that is. I don’t know what to say. I’m also trying to have fun. ‘Trying’
The biggest issue I see with players who perform poorly is that they have no patience and just rush into fights. Being successful in Halo is about being patient.
Don’t be by yourself (save for certain situations to gain an advantageous position, etc.), don’t rush into gunfights, don’t shoot a guy just because he’s there without considering whether or not he’s alone, whether or not you have team support, and if doing so will compromise your positioning. Focus-fire enemies with teammates, don’t spread damage around; putting the enemy team a man down puts you at an advantage.
Practice against bots and in the shooting range to learn the weapons. How long can you sustain fire with an AR before the accuracy takes a dive? How many shots to drop a shield with a Sidekick or BR? Learn grenade trajectories and bounces; where do you have to throw it to get it to land at the enemy’s feet? Learn how spawning works and try to control enemy spawn locations so you know where they’re likely to be coming from and keep the game in front of you so they can’t sneak up behind you.
Most importantly: Learn from your mistakes. Ask yourself “why did I die here?” and try not to repeat the same mistake. Every death is a mistake, whether it’s poor aim, poor positioning and map movement, being by yourself, etc. Watch your games in the theater
Try adjusting your setting on both controller and M&K. I remapped my buttons for the controller because the thumbstick melee was throwing me off. It feels a lot better for me now.
You’re gonna have to go through a LOT of trial and error games to find that sweet spot that works for you, but you’ll definitely come out the other end better for it. Also maybe commit to one or the other, it is possible that the constant back and forth between controls is throwing you off. I’d still suggest rebinding/readjusting both, but honestly, if you commit a few days to one control scheme you’ll probably see better results.
I mean i’m not gona be rude and just say you suck lol but the biggest problem tbh is the Matchmaking in this game is troll af i dont play much normals except with a few buddies so i can’t really speak to skill level in there and how that all works but even in my ranked games it isn’t unusal for me to be vs like gold or unranked players (im onyx so theres quite a gap in ranking) and there is no reason for a gold player to have to vs my team of all diamond/onyx players it’s not fair to them to have to play against people who are spending all day practicing and playing when most are just trying to play for fun in more competitive format and it’s not fun when your the team they are on since if feels like you have to try to carry another player or two. So yeah i guess just pray to whoever you pray to that they can get the matchmaking figured out and adjusted.
