Do I just suck at this game?

Honestly it’s like I want to hate this game. No matter what I do I can never get kills half the time or I always join on losing matches in quickplay. I know I’m not some godlike player but damn it even in older Halo games, including 343 ones I could at least do relatively decent, but no matter what I do I can never do well kill wise and my team always gets slaughtered no matter how hard we try in Infinite and honestly I’m just sick of it. Am I just doing something wrong? I get this one works differently but half of the time it’s just frustrating to me.

Edit: I mostly play on PC and I try using Mouse and keyboard and yet I’m having trouble so sometimes I have to resort to controller. Weird thing is back on MCC even Mouse and Keyboard I did relatively well with but this one is just frustrating beyond end. Even back in the previous flights I sometimes had trouble.

Are you on PC or Xbox? Sometimes it can be difficult playing against PC fourstacks. Otherwise, maybe switch up controls and play a lot of weapon drills

This game is awful on a controller so playing on m/kb would probably help you.

Think differently. Like instead of going into a game with the determination of must win, try going into a game with the thought process I just want to have fun. Start in BTB, hop in a warthog gunner seat. Kills are easy to get in that. It’ll boost your confidence.

Remember, many players have more experience than you b/c of the flights

I feel like I have an advantage right now

OP sums up my experience perfectly. I’ve played every Halo since CE, and played matchmaking since H2. I’m usually decent, middle of the pack and can sometimes pop off for an overkill or two…that’s my ceiling for the past 20 years.

I’m getting absolutely stomped in every match I play, in all playlists (except bots). Like 95% of the time, it’s a domination.

The odd thing to me, is I was basically playing par for the course in the second tech flight. Everything felt right, and I was settling in to a familiar rhythm.

This beta is absolutley rolling me, though. Told my longtime friend and matchmaking partner today that I really want to like this game, but I’m getting worn out being matched with folks that are stomping me for hours on end.

I have the same experience I’m a pretty good player usually positive in all halos. I play every day on H5 or MCC this game isn’t fun for me or my son. we are lucky to get a kill I just uninstalled and won’t be buying the campaign till they have multiplayer.

If you are using controller, its because 343i turned down aim assist by A LOT, giving M&K a big advantage.

Yeah, I was really good at h3 hardcore played wit some of the top players but I agree infinite is hard. The game feels way different than any other halo but I think everyone’s skill will come with time it took me like 9 games to finally get my formula down but eventually everything clicks.

It’s definitely not you bro the controller’s something’s going on with it where it feels like the aim assist is kicking off and on making the radical go everywhere. Where you have to sweat to hit that last shot. Sometimes it feels fine sometimes it doesn’t. To playing against PC kids who are running high-end PCS at uncapped 144 fps+. And if you’re playing on the old Xbox you’re running it at 30 if you’re playing on the Xbox One x performance mode running at 60. Not to mention the connection issues where it tells you that you hit the shot but it doesn’t register been having a lot of that going on.

Don’t solo que 4v4 and stick to BTB and always pick up a BR.

This game feels very sweaty in a non-halo way. Not sure where the casual audience is going to land. I’d love to see the devs try to play this game. Seems like the MLG folks designed it. Spawn, die, respawn, die, game over. We’re having fun?

This Halo reminds me a bit of a counter strike. If you’ve ever played it, then you know, who hit you first, usually wins. And even as important as battle is how do you get to it, use unobvious paths, etc. It is hard for me also, but I’m progressing, and also started to play KBM after a couple years of sticking to a controller.

Strong disagree with this comment. It feels immaculate for me on controller.

“works on my machine” is basically what you’re saying. There’s no way you haven’t seen all the people saying how bad it feels compared to any other game.

I’ve seen a heavy majority talk about how amazing it feels and only a few people out of them say anything negative. Usually that would be about TTK though. It seems like you are in the minority with this.

Well, I’m bad at this game as well.
If we’re to say that, and not that aiming feels extremely odd and is off putting for some.

The next question is then, why are we getting matched like this? What algorithm puts us against way better players, constantly?

Aiming on mkb is harder in this game than in mcc because of the faster movement and its still somewhat easy on controller. Despite what some people say controller is still pretty op if youre good, its just more consistent than a mouse because of the insane aim assist/bullet magnetism (yep mouse gets bullet mag too but it just works so well with the aim assist).

Also you could be playing against 4 stacks and that makes the games really hard/impossible. Another thing is that alot of the guns are pretty easy to use so unless you are making sure that the enemy cant win gunfights against you by positioning well, using equipment well, or using a power weapon; you’re kinda just coinflipping your gunfights. Anyone can kill anyone in this game it seems.

That’s the thing I’ve always loved about Halo. Even if someone hit you first, you still had a chance to turn it around depending on the moves you made. It’s one of the aspects that lent a lot of skill to the game. Running around a corner and getting lit up is not skill-based, it actually just rewards random chance… which is stupid!
