Do I get XP for commendations I complete?

I recently reached level 70 and I can’t progress any higher or get any XP until they unlock the rest of the specialization,“I only have the standard edition of halo 4”. I am wondering if I will still get the XP toward the next specialization I choose for completing random comendations.

so far no one has been able to say for sure. all i can say is that when i went from 70 to 71 some xp carried over.

Nope, I was stuck at 70 for awhile, when I used the code to unlock the other commendations nothing carried over when I picked my next one.
